What baffles my mind is they were given demobilization funds, and compensation for war injuries etc in the early 80s. Most got houses in the location and some got minda mirefu and farm implements in the late 80s and early 90s. In 1998 they got again payouts ma50K and got A1 offer letters. Now I ask myself kuti what else do they want. Clearly they didn't put their benefits to good use. Like everyone else in Zim we're all suffering. My parents got all those monies and I saw how it changed our lives in a big positive way (I went to school for free till degree level and inherited a few things like houses cars etc) and also saw their mistakes in terms of investment and selling their A1 farms or farm inputs but I can't say they were neglected by Gvt. Uku kwaakunetsawo uku. Zvinopera riinhi really.
I think the problem with many of that generation is that they were myopic. They didn't see themselves as stewards of those funds, properties etc for future generations - even the fourth, fifth etc of their lineage. There's a saying that "Blessed is the man who plants trees under whose shade he will never sit", and the foresight was sorely lacking here. Also, they took the properties, funds etc as a payoff, and it made them complacent. It was certainly well-merited welfare, but they should have remained politically and economically engaged from day 1 post-independence. By failing to do so, and feeling as if it was their role to prop up the regime in one form or another, many opportunities were lost to demand accountability and keep political leaders on their toes. You can even see from this interview how conflicted this 60+ year old man is in terms of talking about ED, access to ED, recent scandals etc. You can also see it from the way he complains about what politicians didn't do after independence (the spiritual stuff) - why weren't these guys asking questions at the time?! Finally, if people are receiving properties and funds without acquiring the economic or financial acumen to know how to steward those assets, or how to "read the room" when it comes to political or economic developments, it won''t last long. Part of the problem is that there was no "investment" in the people themselves (in terms of acquisition of meaningful and transferable skills), it was just about giving them stuff. And you can see from the way this man talks, and the other male war veteran from a couple of weeks ago, that these guys just became conditioned to that "handout" culture.
'Recently the NPA’s Prosecutor General made a startling revelation that Zimbabwe is losing over USD$1.2 billion a year in the gold sector alone due to illicit financial and mineral outflows'
Those leaders who are on top where also saying this on Mugabe saying there is no sanctions in Zimbabwe its mugabe causing the suffering and after mugabe they are now saying Zimbabwe is on sanctions which is which now muno zvipingirisha macdes muno nyebera vanhu
Zimbabwe independence was a negotiatedeal settlement. ZANU misleads people into believing that they marched to statehouse after a military/guerilla war victory. Kunyepera vanhu.
Chamisa was saying to you lets move together so that we remove these thieves through voting for change and you where saying he is a sellout now yiu are crying please think as a war fighter not like mujibhas
'Sadly, amidst this corruption is a deadly state of food insecurity and poverty, with the regime itself, in a recent Cabinet circular, indicating that 7.7 million of Zimbabweans are food insecure while 4.2 million school going children in the motherland are in need of school meals. To make matters worse, 70% of our people are living in abject poverty proving again the cost of regime corruption & misgovernance'
That man is annoyingly biased. One will never know what he really is up to. He is simply playing with our minds. He loves what's trsnspiring in zanu because he is a war vet. Really 45 years after end of war and still not able to see his leader hoping the Minister will now give him the opportunity to air his concerns. Blessed it looks like watenderedzwa musoro nemdara wako uyo. Hauziye peamire chaipo.
Blessed you are so selective, why are you not bringing mai Kore on this platform????? We need answers from her from what she's denying yet we are seeing her attending meetings with Tshabangu team ( the Ncube).
Dhara these old folks are after self enrichment not the mass of people. The interview was going well until you asking him about Chivhayo. Hapana zvemunhu apa
Perhaps you interviewed him before that audio that's apparently by Matemadanda started circulating. It would be interesting to hear some commentary on that.
There is a sad assumption that excombatants belong to zanu pf. They fought for democracy and through that democracy they can join any party they prefer especially when their mother party is not going in the right direction. Just join the progressive opposition and boot out zanu.
After being voted in positions in rural areas thats that letter to be seen again towards elections people are clever now they now want actions not sweet talks
What's up with with that pullover Blessing 🤔?. You should know that in Germany it's a common symbol that gay men wear, to identify each other on the streets , from time to time.
War Veterans must join Hands With the Change Champion Nelson Chamisa for a Better Zimbabwe that's the way Forward.....
