Just discovered your channel and really enjoying the content and getting to know you. Really like the car content and the alternative vids too. Thanks!
Absolutely! I found your channel looking for reviews of the SLK55, but have enjoyed lots of your other videos too. Hope you keep going and keep enjoying putting them together!
Interesting video thanks and I can see you have an interest in more sporting cars so you may be able to help with some context. I test drove one of these recently but forgot to test sport mode. I thought performance was ok but difficult to tell too much on a short urban test drive. Can you advise on how much difference it makes to performance/throttle response? I guess it gives most of its performance from quite low revs but doesn’t necessarily give much more at higher revs? Another future video featuring some more driving and commentary on the driving experience, performance, ride and handling would be great. 👍 Possibly a camera angle over your shoulder so could see both driver inputs and the road would be good? The dealer told me that you need to update the maps before you can update the stereo for Carplay/Android Auto so possibly a small extra cost but would be worth doing.
The sport mode makes the throttle super-sharp and the car is on boost immediately. From what I can tell, nothing else really changes. I drive in normal mode 99% of the time. Eco is pointless. The engine is best for performance above 3k rpm, keep it below 2k and it barely uses any fuel. It's a great drive. The full independent suspension ensures that is the case. Think the new Civic is the only other car in the class which is also fully independent. Smooth ride, plenty of grip, very impressive. Really enjoying the car, doing 1k miles/month in it at the moment, perfect daily driver.
What's the true fuel consumption like in this model ? ..I do roughly around 200 motorway miles per week & I'm around £50 per week in diesel just now for my Lexus is220d commuting to & from work & have you noticed any problems or perks with your car since your video upload ...thanks in advance,I really enjoyed your review 👍
I do about the same mileage in and out of Glasgow each week. The car has settled at 44.7mpg. About £50 to fill up and that gives a range of just over 400 miles. A tank generally lasts me 2 weeks. If its pure motorway driving though you'll improve on that. On a decent run the car will get well over 50mpg. No issues at all, only negative is the eco tyres, can't wait to change them!! Superb ride too 👍
I have a 1.2t manual hatch '19 engine pulls well in standard mode !!! What do you think of the manual gearbox, i think it can be a bit notchy going from first to second occasionally, heard its fairly common with a Toyota box ,apart from that it's great
With you on the gearbox going 1st to 2nd although as the miles go on it’s getting less noticeable, or maybe I’m just getting used to it. Great car, very comfortable and massive mpg 👍
@@midlifemotors5050 glad it's not just me noticed it from 1st to 2nd , doesn't do it every time but it's a bit annoying, I'll get used to it as only has the car a month .
@@ThePetermira I'd like to know the actual cause of it , one minute it's really smooth , the next you feel the notchy bit , can't be the actual gear selector because it would do it all the time , cables same as selector , possibly hydraulic side of things , it's definitely not crunching the box
It’s has more torque than the 1.8 (turbo v na) and isn’t carrying any batteries so it deffo feels quicker/stronger than that. Haven’t tried the 2.0 but that’s just too ££expensive imo.
BIG car, SMALL engine - the SLK in reverse 🤔
but nothing like it 🤣
@@justgetoutanddrive correct. Was out filming in it today for its 8th birthday 🎂
Quite a nice looking car. Toyota design team seem to have upped their game over the last 10 years!

@@midlifemotors5050 Very helpful, thank you. A car I will consider and glad you are enjoying yours.
Hi from Portugal! I have a TS 1.2 t too and its a nice car...
Hi there, thanks for tuning in 👍 The car has been a nice step up from the Yaris. All the best from sunny Scotland 👋

Wheels are 16 inch not 17 on the Icon Tech , design spec gets 17 inch and auto folding mirrors
They are small!! Probably keep the 16s for the winter, currently looking at some 18s to snazz things up a bit 😀

My 1.2T HB with same issue in gearbox! Notchy going from first to second gear in the majority, some times smoother
@@ThePetermira I have noticed that it's worse when the weather is cold

You said it was quite dark inside and that came across on the film, you might want to consider changing the interior bulbs for LED's?
Good shout. Off to check out Amazon 💡
Toyota told porkies on the power, they're really around 127hp and 165ftlbs
Ah, makes sense. Does feel strong 💪
does it feel like its lacks power going up hill say compared to the bigger motor variants?
