Damn why are all the comments so negative? This is great. Their chemistry is off the charts. I’d fallen out of the fandom for a while but this season totally pulled me back in.
I think the majority of people couldn't stand Jodie Whitaker's era and this new era is also divisive. It has the bones of being good but is just being weighed down by boring messaging. I think the majority of fans are just not interested in the doctor being romantic or sexual. Plus the script writing for this series has been very poor.
@@feffermickelso what you’re saying is people who criticise bad writing for gay characters is homophobic. Because guess what even gay people don’t like this season. People don’t like this season yet again because it doesn’t really give that feel of doctor who. Instead replaced with too on the nose political messages with lots of character development missing and a confusing story
I guess one thing is that the Doctor was always "above" romance. Previous romantic encounters were all circumstantial. Here, it feels like he is being actively romantic, and many people find it jarring. Also, this is a Bridgerton episode, but Bridgerton is an alternative history drama where Black people can live normally among white rich folks, and modern pop songs are played as quasi-classical music. In Doctor Who, I can tolerate the music part, but seeing so many people of color dancing around white people feels off. It seems like they conveniently turn the racism aspect on or off whenever they want to address it. Where is the consistency? That being said, I really like the interaction between Rogue and the Doctor, if the homoeroticism only floats to the surface near the end, and he kisses the Doctor right before sacrificing himself, then it would be good balance.
I know for a fact that they aren't. Moffat provided joy and whimsy sometimes in portions far too large back in the day, and the fans didn't complain then.
So crazy in love with Groffsauce, and he's SO not my type. But he's the total embodiment of generous selfless empathetic love. I'm so happy, amazed, and fulfilled that others appreciate him as he deserves. Wild to see him play villains. But he does it to perfection, as he does anything he undertakes.
3:24 - the start of one of the best parts of this entire episode and scene complete with the most hauntingly beautiful music I’ve ever heard in this new season!
I guess I’m just confused as to how the doctor fell in love so quickly, they knew each other for like 15 minutes, I don’t think that’s even a blink of an eye for the character who is at this point a thousand or more years old
I'm all for the Doctor occasionally meeting someone (have we collectively forgotten all about Ten's run ?), but he just ignored the Tardis' warning about Rogue there, and dismissed it as "indigestion"...
You are absolutely lying lmao. First of all, gay people wanting to declare their opinions don't usually qualify their statements with "i'm gay", that's a telltale sign of someone presenting themselves as such just to prove a point. Second: There is literally nothing wrong with this. It's a well written romantic scene. The doctor has had those before.
@matthewcalladine5894 It didn't have to make me cringe, it just did. It's cheesey and forced and like something we would have written as drama students in the 90s
Being asexual wouldn't make someone blind to age, and you can still develop romantic feelings for people while being asexual! It's a spectrum, asexual just means having little to no sexual attraction. The Doctor had feelings before for Rose Tyler, a few one off characters, and River Song as well, so Rogue isn't the first love interest he's had!
So they've destroyed the Doctor Who central character himself now? Its his complex cerebral and enigmatic aloofness - the other worldiness and sense of being an outsider that once appealed (I suspect) to its early gay fandom. You turn him into a giggly hyper-emotional school girl, subject to OTT camp whims - romancing and clubbing his way across the universe - and presumably subject to the other boring foibles and traits of the most vain, shallow Tiktok gen (with attention spans to match) where do you go with that? Looks like Bridgerton meets WIlly Wonka meets Wizard of Oz gay fantasy drama - with (for some reason) extra sci-fi elements thrown in (or rmeaining as hang over from its glory days). Imagine that Mr. Spock is next for same treatment. Hey Gen Z - instead of feasting on the carcass of endless past genuinely innovative and creative shows - and supposedly 're-inventing 'them ---and thereby destroying the original charm in the process --- why not produce something genuinely new and innovative yourselves. Because I'm not seeing it out there.
What are you talking about, the doctor is young and energetic in a similar way to how he has been in the past. And he’s not been ruined by rtd he’s been reinvented by RTD, successfully might I add!
i personally would love to have Mr Spock get RTD-ified. When I look at Ncuti I see Christopher Eccleston. It is not our fault you can’t see past the buzzwords and media to notice that this is still the Dr Who we know and love. This is not the first time The Doctor is queer, he is just proud and open now, and that is beautiful. Learn to love things ❤
I can't lie, except for a few bits of what you said, you basically described the 10th Doctor. Also, I don't really see this connection to the Tik Tok gen or whatever. I'm not a fan of Tik Tok, and find it quite annoying, but I'm still enjoying the character and don't feel alienated
@@vampire-rodeo I don't need to learn to love things are that are vacuous and without any soul. In fact I especially dislike such ventures when they build on the back of something that was genuinely original and engaging creations of the past. Not hijacked Dr Who. I know its a kids show initiallly but it always worked on multiple levels - including grown up. This is shallow and without depth - and if I was 9 year old I might love it. It's funny that The Doctor is singing Pure Imagination because Ncuti Gatwa told his agent he wanted a role like Doctor Who or Willy Wonka.
Towards the end of this clip, when both characters open their hearts, I started to cry. It brough back memories and lost loves.
