ITS NOT JUST A WORK SONG. its a chaingang song. like the songs sung by convicts in the us justice system working jobs digging ditches or mining gravel. Thats why the cadence seems so good and progresses to demand greater and greater. cause its INDENTURED SERVANTS of the corpus singing as they work off there debt desperate to be free but also knowing EVERYONE is in the same boat. So they unify in there singular purpose and SING for what they work towards. TO LIFT THEM SELVES UP TOGETHER!

Still sends chills down my spine. Not just a great reveal trailer, but also a great in-game introduction to the zone. The figure who drops down at the end is the player character, and their appearance will reflect the player's visual customisations. This amazing cutscene transitions seamlessly into the player walking around the space they've just been introduced to.

    • @delnite5825

honestly just the fact that they are able to render their cutscenes in the games own engine for smooth transitions like that is pure witchcraft considering how old this game is and an mmo at that.

@@thegrouchization yeah, but in game cutscenes usually arent implemented due to looking like absolute ass without substantial effort (especially not with older games like warframe).
its only more recent games with their insane graphics that can do it safely without it feeling more jarring than an advertisement.
but thanks to the fact that warframe is one of the only games that regularly gets graphics updates without them being sold as some cheap remake/remaster with no other changes, this mmo looter shooter thats more than a decade old can have in game cutscenes that actually look good and even comparable to something you would expect to see in a modern sony spiderman game. and that at the very least is not something that happens often (if at all).

    • @thegrouchization
      @thegrouchization 9 месяцев назад +1

@@delnite5825 Er... *most* games primarily use in-engine cutscenes, and this has been the case since long before I got into the hobby (circa 2007). Outside of CG intros (which Warframe also has), games typically stay in-engine from start to finish.
It's actually more rare for a game to use CG for the majority of its cutscenes. RTS is pretty much the only genre that uses them consistently.

One of the bits I loved about For Narmer is indeed the stark contrast between it and the original Fortuna reveal - when you first enter Fortuna you drop down from the ceiling in your Warframe, like some sort of angel with no concept of fall damage, and from then on you have mostly free reign of the place (I'm still not sure if this is just because you're a Tenno and the Corpus are scared of what would happen if they tried to apprehend you, or because they legitimately don't keep armed guards in the part of Fortuna that serves as a player hub).
Meanwhile, when For Narmer comes in, you kind of have to watch it play out (likely in a state of abject horror) as you slowly descend down to ground level on an elevator, no longer able to fall from the sky for fear of breaking your legs on the landing and no longer able to walk around freely because the enemy is everywhere and, plainly speaking, you're *not* equipped to fight them head-on at that point in the quest.

Even the more "mundane" music (the in mission background stuff players have heard endlessly) is good. And the feature pieces are absolutely magnificent! You've heard "This is What You Are" and "We All Lift Together," but there is much more. Strongly recommend checking out the soundtrack.

As I said under another comment, We All Lift and For Narmer are also opposites in how they're presented - namely, how the player is introduced to their respective scenarios.
We All Lift Together ends with the player dropping from a light-filled hole in the ceiling, like some sort of angel, and immediately after this you can freely walk around the hub and talk to the locals (admittedly, if you're loading in for the first time you won't be able to buy anything) without fear of being attacked.
Meanwhile, For Narmer opens with the player descending into Fortuna via a lift - this sort of serves a double purpose, because it both shows how you're effectively powerless without your Warframe (by forcing you to take an elevator instead of just jumping down) AND it forces you to witness what's happened to Fortuna in your absence following previous events in the New War, how a choir once full of humanity has been reduced to a single, harmonious voice singing a false king's praises.
Then, when the lift stops at the bottom, it turns into a stealth section - Fortuna is now enemy territory, and without your Warframe or a weapon better than your dinky little Void pistol you have no hope of winning in a firefight.
      I really like it.

Some people already explained context here, but I want to add, as story goes on, after numerous quests there is one very big, longest quest at the moment called *New War* that take 6 hours of playing where about 4 hours or cutscenes, in this quest a whole Solar System was enslaved included Fortuna workers, but it was not just that, they also brainwash them with their Narmer mask and hence there is continuation for this song when you enter Fortuna for the first time during the quest called: *For Narmer*
So if you want to listen next song from WF, this is a good choice.

The people working in the background are essentially people or children of people who are in debt to (im assuming) a faction called the Corpus. From what I understand, they are taken and forced to work here (potentially without being paid at all, but I don't know for sure) until they pay off their debts. The song itself is essentially their work song the they sing constantly whilst at work. If I correctly, whilst walking around in this area, you occasionally hear some of the workers whistling this tune.

Just for a small bit of additional game info, the reason these workers have robots bits and human bits is because their limbs get repossessed if they don't make quota. Super dystopian shit.

I swear I think the design process for warframe is someone throwing darts at a list of genres and whatever they hit gets adapted to the universe as best it can be and crammed in

The corpus faction are such a strange kind of cyborg. I don't think you'll see it elsewhere, it doesn't seem practical. They have robotic heads and human bodies. They talk about people being placed into storage for not being able to pay their bills, and it sounds like they rent bodies (similar to Altered Carbon) or have to pay taxes on their bodies, but if you're going to have a robotic head why not have a robotic body, right? The head is the most valuable part of a human's biology right now. It brings into questions about their humanity, I love it.
