In this video we cover the steps to update your Spektrum Smart Charger. While this is aimed at the Gen 1 to G2 firmware update, these same steps will work for all future updates as well. These steps will work on all Gen 1 Smart Chargers, however, the method of connection to your PC may differ. This focuses on using the USB to Serial adapter (SPMXCA100) which is the most complex of the PC interfaces. If you have an S120 or S1100 you can simply plug a USB cable from the PC to the charger.
Thanks Dave. Didn't want to have to invest in a new charger right away but have recently purchased a Horizon product that came with a G2 battery and the little S120. The S120 must come with the firmware update already installed because it charges the 11.1V 850mAh 3S 30C G2 Smart LiPo that came with the heli just fine. Just wanted to charge using an AC charger. Now I am a happy camper. Thanks again.

Hello Dave! I am able to load the device driver, as I can see it in the device manager under PORTS (COM & LPT) as USB SERIAL CH340 (COM 9). But when I run the SCU application, the application will not find the XPMXCA100. I have re-installed the driver several times and it always shows up in the device manager correctly, but the SCU program will not recognize it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Regards
here I am in 2024 with a like new s1100 smart charger I ‘ve hardly used and there is no update available. So my options are to try to find the “old” G1 batteries or throw it away bc it won’t charge the G2’s that are the only kind in stores.
I updated my s2100 charger so I can charge the g2 batts..ok I charged my two spektrum 6s batteries and took them out for a run. I tried to re-charge them and now they wont read or charge. it says balance cable not connected and they are connected. I plugged the batts into my spektrum smart checker and they dont even turn it on. Idk what to these batteries and they only have 6 charges on them. something is wrong any idea?? BTW all my other smart batteries charge just fine just these two???
Hope they’ll be back in stock soon. The new driver they have available should help with the issues people were having not being able to get them to connect
@@MultiDas123 I was able to get mine working. The problem was with the 'audio' end of the cable. It doesn't seem to plug in to the USB dongle far enough.

Are these Gen 1 smart packs you’re having problems with? Or G2 6S packs?
Just got an S100 and getting abnormal battery connection error. Can't find any fix. Any ideas?

Still wont detect. Even after driver update. 3rd PC tried on. Either cable is toast or a bad charger :(
i am having the same problem, my cable seems to be working fine. Going to have to call horizon hobby to figure it out.
