1:54, when you get set on fire, throttle down to zero% and turn your engine off to stop the fuel from being drained. This gives the sealant in the fuel tank time to seal the holes in the fuel tank and put out the fire. If you keep WEPing while on fire it just makes it harder for the fuel tank to seal/less likely that it will seal and your fuel might all get burnt or your plane will burn up (whichever comes first).
To this day I wonder how can War Thunder players spot a single gray pixel 14 miles away in the midst of a forest, but I can’t notice that the tank right next to me is an enemy.

The bearcat Is probably my favorite prop plane right now. It compresses like shit but the guns are awesome and the climb rate is great. I liked the corsair before it but, you know, 15k repair cost and all. I have the General Lee skin for it. Sadly I hate prop combat and much prefer jet combat now. Sadly again, the A4-E cannot research rank IV vehicles, so I still need to research the tigercat and one more bomber to get to the jets.
@@snottytoe6957 I'm not a huge fan of american 20mils... Somehow they just don't feel as powerful and accurate in my hands as their british cousins. For grinding rank 4, I'd recommend go lower in br to play something like p51d5, p47d28 or that f4u4 without 20mils with a premium account. since 50cal is better at knocking out small pillboxes, you can fly out to fight enemy players first and grind a good amount of sl and rp afterwards

I personally hate 50 cals, because my initial shot is good, but my tracking is usually pretty bad, which is why I much prefer jet battles. As for grinding out the lower tiers, alot of the planes at the point just dont feel nice to me. The thunderbolt can barely keep itself up and no matter what I play, im gonna get out matched by a zero or a bf 109.
Btw, tip for plane fuel economy. Set throttle to 50-60%. Below 40%, props range from negative thrust (engine braking) to neutral. 50% throttle usually works to about longest range speed, and for most props that's around 300kph.
This is mandatory for rocket planes, too. Their fuel usage isn't linear, around 75% throttle you're already halving your consumption. You can easily get 10 minutes on station in a 163, not even including climbing and returning.

I don't have a ton of time in the ZSU-57-2, but with the 40mm Bofors guns I've noticed that its easier for me to actually aim in through the scope than use zoom in 3p. Especially helps when they're coming head-on

I have zero clue why so many people skipped the naval line in the US tree. F4U-1a is great at 2.7, F4U-1c has great guns, the F4U-4's have great performance + the 4b has excellent guns. The F8F-1b is also another great that comes to mind. Sadly the jets are lacking until the F-8 Crusader pair, but its still all worth it

Can you imagine playing this game so much that you memorize exactly what every single treeline looks like so you can instantly spot hidden tanks from across the entire map? Yeah, neither can I, which is why I quit playing. Tired of being sniped from 1200 yards away.
This reminds me of what snipers would do in world war two, they would observe the tops of treelines for any cut-off sections, since the tops of trees can be used to make some ground cover and "fake trees" on the ground to hide in. A sniper was supposed to be acutely aware of nature, observing every little tree and area they could see for anything that looked at all strange. They were basically trained to stare at bushes for the one bush that sticks out.
