Hello, about the soldier that raised his hand when they doubled his salary to be in the Airborne. To give perspective on the value of that $50-100.00 dollars.in 1940 one could purchase a new automobile for $800.00. Cars were discontinued during the War pretty much. Factories were making other stuff.
It's great to see that you're going to watch this show with your son. Hopefully it will give him a lifelong interest in learning about and understanding history. Just for the record the first time I watched Band of Brothers I thought that Sobel told private Gordon had 15 minutes to the top of Currahee and back but he actually said 50 minutes.
Think about the title Eisenhour had, Supreme Allied Commander. He was the most powerful man in the history of the world in charge of the largest force the world has ever known or probably will ever know..
This bears repeating because the truth never ends. If you're going all the way with this...be prepared to grow, laugh, learn and suffer with these characters. The first episode is in some ways my favorite, if only for the innocence and the fact that I know what lies ahead for these men. This was when their biggest threats were "Army noodles with ketchup." I love the power move Winters makes by literally grabbing the pen out of Sobel's hand while he was abusing his power...it's brilliant, and a true story. Hard to call this a TV show honestly, it's a 12 hour Saving Private Ryan in quality...CURRAHEE! ♠
I really like that you guys actually caught that Sobel getting assigned to jump school was the Army quietly dealing with the problem. So many people seem to think that he's being rewarded, when that's the opposite of what's happening
Dang guys... at this rate, you'll be reloading episode 1 clear into summer! 😄 Sorry RUclips is giving you such a hard time about this. I'm wondering now... is it an actual "copyright strike", or are they pulling it because you're showing it to your son, who is a minor? Shouldn't matter at all, but RUclips can be weird about things. Good luck, and hope this one stays up. We're all eagerly awaiting y'all's reaction to Ep. 2, and the rest of the series.
That's cool that you're introducing your son to the best TV series ever. Hope he enjoys it as much as you did when you first watched it.

I hope this episode, and all the following episodes, stay on here without getting removed again. Excellent miniseries.

saved his life and others.
i love that you two are watching this together. this is extremely important for everyone to watch. both young and old can benefit from seeing this!
Great series for a Dad and his Son to watch!
Nooo I keep thinking this is episode 2! Nah I’m joking, I know the pain of copyright - but can’t wait for part 2!
The value of $100 in 1941 is $2,176 in today’s worth.
Spaghetti balognese with garlic bread is the best! I also make my speghetti sauce with moose meat when I get the chance.
I haven't had it with moose, but I have had it with bison. I'd like to try the moose version eventually

Liked and commenting to match the first upload...YT stinks. LOL
You two should watch ..the dead poet society..
Is that an actual law requiring someone to be 15 where you live to watch mature content?
