It's crazy to know that I hear them since then! 2005 is literally the year I discovered their music, no ones of my friends knew the band at that time.
But do they know it now? You need to spread the word about Epica :)

I still cant understand why a lot of people hate simone, they said that she´s smug but I still cant find that face of her

***** I know exactly what you mean for putting it that way you are right I think she seems superficial and i 'm not saying she is a bad person but the whole point of the symphonic metal market at times seems like sex appeal marketing like any other type of music. I think a lot of these women's talent is overlooked or the bands talent itself is overlooked because of a gorgeous front woman. And then at the same time it's a bit discriminatory.... Because if a front woman is not deemed as beautiful enough people will just not take her seriously or at least at this point we know the band is popular as a whole. Like for example I'm not saying Simone isn't talented but she is over rated next to Dianne from Xandria or Tarja from Nightwish or Sharon Den Adel who we know is noticed also for her talent like the women I just named and many more. I think when it comes to the more operatic voices of metal like Manuela Kraller and Dianne from Xandria they are better singers and obviously they don't have all these fangirling men obsessing over them like Simone whom I think at best singing vocals are average. She doesn't even have the range of Floor Jansen who is a very talented woman as well but Simone is just there as eye candy it seems. I think it seems this way for a lot of women in this genre that prides women in looking like dolls. But she is the only one who comes across so superficial to me. So I do understand your comment
I know😊 people can be immature but it is about being adults and sharing opinions in a mature way
I had heard stories about the racism and that really turned me off from her...I hoped it wasn't true. As a fan of Epica of ethnic background I would be highly disappointed supporting them as a fan. Their music is supposed to come from a deep place and encourage the opposite of bigotry. So I would be disappointed that they write and sing about these things and yet there is a shallow person behind it all because it damages the effect of the message
Omg omg yeah I know I have had Latin friends in high school and I know a bit about the way you guys greet, I am African American so yeah. But I heard how she is to her South American fans one guy wanted an autograph waited in line and said Simone was snobby and rolled her eyes and even laughed and talked in German to one of her band mates. I'm not sure which of the guys it was not Mark I don't think but word is a security guard also overheard her saying racist jokes with another bandmate and he quit because he's a black guy and would not tolerate that type of stuff. I saw that on her website too about the food....and she also says she had a friend of "color" in Holland who moved away when she was a kid and she was so sad. So ummmm...I guess she feels these descriptions invalidate her from being racist. Most of the fans I have seen her take pics with are white. So I believe what you say.
I don't know how Mark could get over her.. like .. she is extremely and incredibly beautiful and perfect.
And he could forget her even tho they never stop seeing each other because of the band, and he actually seed her with another man and all .. awesome
I wouldn't like to be him... But hey, his music is amazing!

Met them at Electric Ballroom, Camden in December..nice people...Simone was lovely, signed some photo's for me as did the band..when we had our photo taken with the band, i was wearing a Joe Satriani t-shirt, and the whole band was like.."Wow..Satriani..well cool"..couldn't believe they were big fans of his..
