I like that she's so into this being this early in the anime already. This anime brings up a lot of topics of discussion on morality, it's great.

I really like these kinds of reaction, people get to like mental and psychological anime, there is a deeper analysation here, where one has God complex and where do you stand in terms of morality because everything is not just black and white.
I like that people also appreciate mental warfares not just flashy anime or they bring the same level of excitement :D

The thing about that, is that society works by putting someone in charge for that.
Judges are the ones on charge to decide punishment, policitians are the people on charge to decide for the rest of the country about laws or economic decisions, society literally works with putting someone else to decide. At the end, even laws are written for different people.
So, being against Light would be being against of how society works, society works by putting people to decide about other people's life honestly, that why I'm not in favor of that argument. Someone needs to be on charge.

I honestly had no idea people ever considered Light to be a 'moral' character.
In most societies, no one person is in charge of the creation of laws and the execution of those laws. There is a peer reviewed process. Judges may pick the sentence but a jury decides whether they are guilty or not.
Light represents a narcissistic authoritarian dictator view on justice. One where death is the only solution.
I have a hard time understanding your logic for why you don't approve of society deciding groups of people to be in "charge" but find it ok for one self-prescribed 'god' to be in "charge".

Light is more of a narcissist than a psychopath. He couldn't bear to judge himself evil, so he went full on delusional about being a god that is passing righteous judgment to evil.

I know it is too late to comment, but in the first chapter, he said that he wanted to make himself known so that people are afraid of doing bad actions, thus putting order in the whole world, he did not do something stupid, he just wanted to stop the rotten of the world that nobody fixed.

hey! dont know if youll see this but i hope you do. while Japan doesnt have a lot of christian peopl, japanese people looooove the bible but like in the same way we like fantasy or shakespear so there are a lot of motifs and allusions to biblical ideologies. its in soooo much of their media(just look at evangelion or jrock music) and thats why i think they made Ryuk love apples, because temptation and all that jazz

Hi Suzy - Following Marina De Castro Gonçalves comment down below. If you like Death Note consider giving Code Geass ago. It's very similar in feel but also different.- I just found Lelouch from Code Geass a more likable person where Light although I like him as a character its hard to agree with him since his own justification of what justice is but this is what makes the show enjoyable to watch but after this, I would recommend just to give it a shot.
