As a former associate of the Polonaise Dance Group, and a weekly attendee at Polka dances at the Port Washington Starlight Ballroom, these wedding videos are a real blast from the past!! While I was not at the wedding there are so many faces that I recognize. Trying to remember all of their names is the hard part [ha ha]. Those were the days, weren't they. Every Saturday night the Starlight Ballroom was packed full of folks Polka dancing to one of the many dozens of Polka bands at the time.
When around Ocala, FL on any 2nd Sunday of each month visit the Gen. Pulaski Polish Club in Belleview.. We have Brad Turk's Northern Sound Polish Band. They are terrific. You won't be disappointed.
When I was a kid, I attended a traditional Polish wedding. It lasted three days. On Friday, everyone went to the rehearsal dinner with dancing. On Saturday, everyone returned to the venue for a huge breakfast. Later, the bride and groom were escorted separately to the church with bands (and the "vodka abduction"). Then there was the wedding and the feast and dancing afterwards. The next morning, everyone was fed a huge breakfast and went to the bride's parents' home for more food.
The world needs more of this right now. Thank you for making my night!
I had a Polish Wedding it was great.
I enjoyed this video and the first two as well! Thanks for posting!
