I honestly think that Cheetah Hint is an underrated coaster. It has some great airtime moments and I think the fact that it’s less intense is not a bad thing due to more people being able to ride it.

The nice thing with Sea World Entertainment is they will work with just about any manufacturer. They have the budget for a B&M, they would work with Intamin, RMC, Mack, and Premier. So the next coaster could be several different options, but since SWO is getting the first B&M Surf coaster next year, BGT might go with a different manufacturer...my guess Intamin since BGW got an Intamin.

My late dad worked at BGT as a manager from 1999-2009. Honestly, that's the era I remember best of the park, because I went there more times than I can even start to count. There was a point in time where Sand Serpent was brand new, and it was known as Cheetah Chase; because he worked there in management, him and I got to ride that, as well as Sheikra, during the press ridings (we were literally among the first to ever experience these). Both of them were absolutely awesome to ride, especially with me being an 8 year old kid at the time, who had just become tall enough to go on the roller coasters.
I know that a lot of my favorite rides there, rides I grew up with, are getting up there in age (Kumba turns 30 this year, Montu, which was the first big roller coaster I ever rode, is almost the same age I am, and Sheikra turns 20 in a few years), and eventually, they'll be taken down. It's gonna absolutely break my heart when those rides go away, because they've had a huge place in my life for the entirety of it.
On a side note, I have to mention: there also used to be another small rollercoaster, with a single loop and (I believe) a corkscrew, called Python (it closed in like 2006 or 2007, somewhere around there. Rest in peace to it), as well as the original Gwazi (I've ridden both sides of it, many times); I've yet to ride Iron Gwazi, but I'm sure RMC did a lot of justice to a lovable classic.

I finally got to BGT and got to ride its coasters for the first time just a few weeks ago. Great park, but such a confusing layout and they don't give out maps anymore.
1, Iron Gwazi. No surprise. Great airtime, the death roll, the wave turn. Wish it didn't have that shin guard though.
    2. Montu. When they say this is the best inverted coaster they're not kidding. The batwing is so intense, the trenches add so much, and it's so smooth.
    3. Sheikra. The smoothest ride in the park. The 2 drops are incredible and the whole ride is just pure fun.
    4. Kumba. This would be higher except I got a little head-banging during the cobra roll. But the first loop, zero-g roll, tunnel, and ending helix are great intense elements and most of the ride was smooth outside of the cobra roll and corkscrews.
    5. Cheetah Hunt. A great coaster, but the restraints were pretty uncomfortable. The the quick turns and airtime moments were still fun.
    6. Cobra's Curse. Unfortunately I didn't get much spinning during my ride, but otherwise it's a really good family coaster with good theming.
    7. Scorpion. Another good Schwarzkopf coaster, but I've ridden better from that manufacturer.
    8. Tigris. This hurt me more than any other coaster in Florida. The restraints really hurt my chest on the transition into the slow barrel roll at the top, making this the worst coaster and the worst ride I went on in Florida this trip. If the restraints were better I might have enjoyed it, but I didn't feel as much pain from Kumba, Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket, and Rock'N Roller Coaster combined as I did on Tigris.

Here’s my (slightly) controversial list :
    1. Iron Gwazi (for obvious reasons)
    2. Montu - truely the best inverted coaster in the world
    3. Sheikra - just a fun, re-rideable machine of a coaster (and has great views)
    4. Cheeta hunt - again, a very fun launched ride
    5. Tigris - (this may suprise you, but I loved it when I last rode it in 2019, rode it 6 times in a row lol)
    6. Scorpion - suprisingly great coaster, really smooth and intense
    7. Cobras Curse - great tame childrens ride
    8. Kumba - (controversial, I know), it’s this far down in the list as when I last rode it I had one of the roughest experiences I’ve ever had on a coaster and had a headache for ages after (sorry kumba fans)
    9. Sand serpent - bit rough but alright
    10. Air grover - meh
Edit - with kumba, I only rode it in the front row, was they maybe why I found it so rough?

I've never ridden an inverted coaster besides Montu (I've been to every theme park in FL, but that's the only inverted coaster in the state, unless you wanna count Manta at SWO, but that's a flying coaster technically), so I'd say the bar is set pretty high for me lol

  • @zacg_
    @zacg_ 2 года назад +2

My list (it's a bit unconventional)
    1) Iron Gwazi (easy win)
    2) Cobra's Curse (this is such an incredible family ride with fun elements, great theming and a near Disney level queue line)
    3) Montu
    4) Cheetah Hunt
    5) Sheikra
    6) Kumba (sorry but while I like it I don't quite get the hype)
    7) Tigris
    8) Scorpion
    9) Sand Serpent
    10 Air Grover
What should they get next? I think they need to finally get a dark ride. There's a lot of material to work with given the level of theming in the park. Or if not a dark ride, they could do a slow moving boat ride through an exhibit like a real life Jungle Cruise but I'd still like an indoor dark ride section as well.
But if it must be a coaster then let's get an Axis coaster (since S&S 4D seems unlikely any time soon.)

    • @chrystianguerin6370
      @chrystianguerin6370 2 года назад

Fun fact! They actually used to have a ride that was mostly a dark ride, but that was waaaay back in the 80s, and they actually closed it to make room for another ride (I wanna say that ride was Montu, but I may be wrong on that. It's before my time lol), and once they started doing Howloscream there, they actually had plans on the drawing board to add a dark ride with scary/horror theming, one that would be open year round, but obviously experience a spike in popularity (and of course an increase in theming) during Howloscream. The idea was ultimately scrapped because they didn't think it would have consistent attendance throughout the year, but it still would have been really interesting to see that happen!
Addition: they also used to have a walk-through dark attraction that was a scale replica of the tomb of King Tut from ancient Egypt, but that has since become the queue for Cobra's Curse (which explains why that has such great theming). And, as you may have seen from my comment above, my late dad was a development manager there for 10 years, and was on the design/consulting team for Howloscream for the first 8 years it was at the park, so that's why I have this insider knowledge lol.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is an amazing park with one of the best overall coaster lineups in America. But, if I have to rank each of the park's different coasters, here's how I would see it:
1.) Iron Gwazi (This is an easy choice)
    2.) Montu
3.) Kumba (This coaster has the perfect layout and doesn't have the guts to being removed. We could see the park rebuild the coaster with some new trains)
    4.) Cheetah Hunt
    5.) Scorpion
Honorable mentions: Air Grover (a good solid family coaster that we could see at other parks, I'm looking at you Cedar Point), Sheikra, Tigris, Cobra's Curse and Sand Serpent

I was in BGT last month and rode most of the rides before a storm practically closed the park early. I pretty much agree with you here, but personally, Cheetah Hunt was extremely underwhelming. I was hoping for more airtime and forces on those fast transitions, but maybe it was running slow that day, plus the 40 minute wait time where everywhere else was almost a walk on probably didn't help its case in my eyes. I would like to give it another go if I visit the park in the future and hit up the other rides I couldn't make before. Great video!

@@TP_Recommendations i went yesterday, it’s a great park! unfortunately kumba shut down because of technical difficulties 3 times and i was with a group of people, none of which wanted to ride IG, so i didn’t ride that either. really unfortunate, but i’ll be back in tampa eventually since we’re looking for properties in florida. air grover was elite, sheikra was my first dive coaster, the drop was good and it was pretty good overall, one of my favorites in the park. cheetah hunt was really fun, the airtime was pretty surprising at some parts and the inversion was whippy. montu was great but i think it’s overhyped, maybe because i got a ride at 11 so it was probably running slow. the corkscrew at the end was really whippy, it had great pacing, and the batwing was whippy and unique, though the corkscrew was much whippier. part of me still likes alpengeist better, but i got a ride on that late afternoon in august. the cobra roll was something else. scorpion was nonstop intensity after the loop, it was absolutely hauling. every turn was forceful. ridiculous that there was a 4 year old sitting right behind me. tigris was, well, a skyrocket 2, idk what else to say besides the fact it’s short but sweet. sand serpent was pretty normal, though the trims were off after one of the drops (i think the first?) so the 2 hairpin turns after that were pretty crazy. the slight turn into the next drop tossed us in ways i didn’t remember any other wild mouse doing. not my favorite wild mouse but that moment was kinda crazy.
