If you say so. I live in India but travelled in Europe quite often. Places can be beguiling. I had been pickpocketed in Paris CDG and Rome terminii station.
Then last month my camera a canon 90D with a 1500€ lens got stolen in an ICE train enroute to Mulhouse and Freiburg . The backpack was intact , camera alone was missing, found out because of the loss in weight. The skill istoo good. So in a pretty decent train , hardly populated we get robbed. My late husband visited Mumbai and Delhi frequently back in the early 2000's. He was jarred by the disparity between the wealthy and the poor. There didn't seem to be any middle class . The people he encountered were always polite and helpful, but the cities were extremely chaotic. Best of luck navigating that madness

From Kolkata you should travel up north to the Jim Corbett national park.. There Wild Tigers roam and many cases of man eating tigers running wild .. mostly up north from there.. Many places in India has man eating leopards etc so as long as there is a lot of people around , they don't show. Jim Corbett is a nice place where you can enjoy the fresh air cleaned by so many trees and the sense of being in a truly wild place. You can read the stories of Jim hunting down the man eating tigers while you are there to add to your sense of reality. Just stay in a proper lodge at night .. Locals will alert you where the last tiger attack was by gesturing to you to leave the spot which could simply be at the road side or a scenic lookout area
