Had a 71 350 lt1 Vega in 79 with 456 s and a 350 tci trans. Green and gold and centerlines. Fast and really made my high school days memorable. Local fuzz hated that car and I ended up selling it and bought a new 81 Z-28 to get them off my back. Racked up a revocation with the Vega, but Id do it all over again. Nothing like it.
I had a 72 with a 327-4 speed. Roll cage and wheelie bars, narrowed 12 bolt 4.56 gears, mini tubs on centerlines . just out of high school early 80's. Car was a blast. I ended up in an 84 Z-28 bought new.
I call these Pro Street Vegas, mini-Camaro's. Other than it's cool look, the Vega was a colossal failure but that's why it always warms the heart to see one preserved and Pro Street modded. Every last well preserved stock Vega should be Pro Street modded. It's what the Vega was dying to be but the stupidity of the U.S. auto industry of the early 70's wouldn't allow.
I graduated in 71 Come to think of it I am 71 This month, Never could figure out what Chevrolet didn't do more with the Vega in a beautiful line it was a beautiful car. When you think about what Ford had pintos, Mavericks, Anyway I won't go into all of that but I had some hot rods I had a 63 split window coupe Corvette but I was too young to know what I had at the time. But I'll tell you what the only thing it's missing on that beautiful piece of machinery is Wheeler bars, I bet that thing will stand right straight up and talk to you right in your face. Well I'll shut up an old man tends to carry on, Beautiful ride I hope you still got it.👍👍👍⚙️⚙️⚙️🚀🚀🚀
Very nice build. Good choice of color also. The only thing missing is split front bumper. I always wanted to build up a 4.3 V6 and a Vega would be a perfect car to put it in. They are pretty scarce here in Ohio. They didn't have much of a chance against the road salt. I haven't seen one in years. My girl friend had a new 74 GT with a 4 speed and it was a fun little car with no issue's for the 3 years she had it.
There is no better engines than old school , gone are the days of REAL ENGINE TUNERS !!!!!! Today’s tech is all push button and wala instant presto !!!!!!
I had a 72 GT in 75 in High School. It was a neet car. Plenty of room for a V8. It was like a small Camaro except for the engine. I had a 4 speed, green with black stripe.
Its a tight fit but a sbc and turbo 350 trans will go in perfectly without any firewall/trans tunnel modification using the correct engine and transmission mounts
Beautiful car and great sound! Would have loved to here it running open headers! I had a 75 Ford Pinto that I had put a HP 289 with boss heads and a 410 rear gear! Great street car! Ol how we wish we could go back in time!
i had a red 73 GT that i couldn't wait to get rid of.. lol.. junk original aluminum motors.. it looked cool parked next to the garage though.. orange carpet, black seats, red paint, not running lol
v8vega383, the fans I'm running are 14" Perma-Cool with a 2950 cfm rating each. They can be installed as pusher or puller. Been on about 8-9 years, love them!
It's a back half car. Front suspension is rebuilt stock components. Back half is square tube frame, roll cage with ladder bars, adjustable Koni coil over shocks and narrowed gm 12 bolt, 373 gears
Building a 385 also after the 383 messed cylinder walls up, I see it idles around 800 to 900 rpm. Sounds real good. Could you tell me which camshaft your running

Cool tell the haters ....
Well said , it’s a mini Canaro , I did one up in the 80s and got a kit from motion in New York … my friends thought I was nuts , but it was cool
@@lawncuttingplusdelta I bet it was cool. I remember hearing of Baldwin Motion and have seen a Cosworth Vega.
@@JT-SE-OHIO I got a fro t spoiler they wouks mould and it was just a Quik little thing
Like the way he built the gauges into the dash did same thing on my 65 impala very cool looking 70's street car !🚛🇺🇸
Nice car. Clean, straight, very well done.Would like to see it with the hood on also.
a god damn beautiful car you got. I had a 71. miss it. looks like a 911 posi what I had till I flipped it in greensboro
Beautiful car! I miss seeing the wild pro street jobs of the 70s. Get a video of a burn out!
Pretty smooth idle. When I had my tunnel ram topped with Holleys and velocity stacks, the whole car shook.
Pretty clear that the engine in this car is pretty mild.
If it shook because of induction it was because it was flooding
Love the car 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I've watched this video at least 10 times. NICE BUILD 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Damn the car I always wanted to build .
Wow! dual eclectic fans! Impressed

Sweet ride.

I hope you have subframe connectors on it. Vegas have a bad habit of torque twisting and popping the doors open
Very nice car
Im luvin it
Puurrrrrrring so sweet!
so awesome
Nicely done very cean
All we get is a fucking walk around ! No burn out or drive down the road
Cool ride! What electric fans are you running? They're pretty loud, but sound like they would keep it cool.
v8vega383, the fans I'm running are 14" Perma-Cool with a 2950 cfm rating each. They can be installed as pusher or puller. Been on about 8-9 years, love them!
Awesome, what do you normally run for engine temp during a pretty warm day?
v8vega383 engine temperature is pretty steady at 190°-195° on hot days
What type of Front and Rear Suspension you're using for this 1972 Pro Street Vega GT?
It's a back half car. Front suspension is rebuilt stock components. Back half is square tube frame, roll cage with ladder bars, adjustable Koni coil over shocks and narrowed gm 12 bolt, 373 gears
Great car.stance is perfect! What is the tire/rim combination
Sweeet Ride. What radiator/fan set up did you use, and did it do the job? Swapping in a 383 this next week. Thanks
Its a Griffin radiator. The fans are Perma-cool 2250cfm
Nice!!

NICE VIDIA!
The Car is immaculate but my opinion is that it is shy a Spoiler. Rear for sure maybe front as well.
I've seen them with front and rear spoilers, just not the look I'm going for
What's with the truck tailpipes
I would not want to drive it, would like to go for a ride though.
Drag race any body...any body? I think the compition is a little nervous.
What’s your timing set on ?
Do you still have the Vega ?
Yes I do
Stacks on a tunnel ram is the way to go. Some put on a hilborn scoop not the way to go.
It's got plates how about some air filters .
Drive It
Tiene un parecido el frente al Camaro del pero es un auto semi compacto😅😅😅

Abandoned super car in the car park... what a waste... it over heated
385!!!!! more like uh 355.
to much electric fan noise. takes away from the engine sound
Better than a fried motor !
