  • MY FRENCH after learning for 3 MONTHS...
    In this video, I talk in English about changes to my life, for example starting college and studying French and Spanish for A Level. Then I speak for a while only in French, to see my level of speaking after learning for three months. I make a lot of mistakes, but I am happy with my progress, and so is my college, it seems. If you want to know how I learnt, or if you want suggestions of language learning apps, let me know in the comments! :)

      Yeah, as a native to Spanish, I can say that it is a very useful language (depending on where you live, or travel of course). And it shocked me when I had little to no problem when pronouncing different words I've never heard before. But I still mix up my french words for some of the Spanish I know 😅. Anyway, have fun studying!

    • @ispeakmucho
      @ispeakmucho 8 месяцев назад

      At the same time, I'm a native english speaker who learned Spanish to fluency and then began french and i found the relation between english and french words made me learn very fast. I could more easily guess new words based on our english spellings of words that we borrowed.
      With that said, the order of the french grammar was certainly more like spanish, but for me, with closely resembled words found also in English as well as spanish. Entourage is entourage. Savoir-faire was exactly said as how English speakers say Savoir-faire or coup d'état etc etc.
      Now that I also am dabbling in Italian and Portuguese, im finding all of the language help to learn each other. Going from AU restaurant to AO restaurante feels natural. Or Du and D' compared to Do/Da.
      Especially the placement of me/Te being different from what i knew in spanish.
      "Je vais TE dire la chose" feels just like "Eu vou TE dizer a coisa" in structure and i can remember looking at portuguese in my early spanish days and being lost on why it wouldn't be ordered like "te voy a decir" or "voy a decirte", and why it was showing up in the middle somehow 😂.
      On the other hand, Italian is being helped by both Spanish and Portuguese and vice verse. Nella, della vs pela, na/no. Molto and Muito, la sua/a sua.... SO MANY similarities. I also know a tiny bit of swahili and amazing latin grammar had given me a boost on using their versions of melo/selo/nosla etc etc
      Cheers to all my fellow language lovers! Stop by my channel to check my speaking videos from way back. Im an oldschool YTr!

      @Circe_of_Aeaea 4 месяца назад

      Hello, im a portuguese native speaker as well! I study english since I was like seven so it wasn't very hard to me, even though i only studied seriously two times a week. But with that I also kept in touch with the language a lot, reading things on the internet, knowing the memes, watching series and films with subtitles and etc. I find that the more you immerse yourself in the language the easier it gets to learn it and grow used to listening people speaking in it.
      I am now starting to study french and I agree that it has a lot more similar vocabulary to portuguese than english (probably because portuguese and french come from latin whereas english has germanic roots).
      The first thing I did when I started learning languages was to find content that I liked in the language, mostly to grow some curiosity towards it. With english it was Percy Jackson (i was a kid) and it was just funny to read all the funny memes and imaginary monologues of my favorite characters in the internet. With french it was music and a specific film. I listened to everything by Édith Piaf and watched Portrait Of a Lady On Fire five times lmao. It was really enjoyable. I'm sorry, this wasn't meant to become this big, I just miss talking to people about this stuff, it really interests me.
      Good luck on your language learning journey!
