This year I want to do my first Camino and it will be Primitivo started from 30th of June. I am afraid, with so many fears which I want to leave behind. I want to find myself and find my life way. Thank You for Your channel:)
This will be a magical journey for you, Camino Primitivo is special! Dont miss the Samblismo albergue of Jorge! Trust life and smile brightly, and if you have any doubts, write anytime :) buen Camino
For me, June 30th is also the beginning of this adventure. I’m leaving from Saint Jean Pied de Port. I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for and more. Good luck 🍀
i hiked camino del norte at the age of 16 we started in the south of france and ended in finistera a trek of 3 months. for the most part we slept in tents and occasionally in inns. very special experience
I agree with trying it on your own. This gives you such an amazing satisfaction. Everyone is different but I planned only 3 things before starting my Camino: 1) 8kg backpack containing my needs 2) A plane ticket and 3) A map. I travelled in the middle of September. Sometimes I stayed in the Albergue but honestly preferred to stay in a cheap little pension. I prefer the privacy and not having to worry about anybody else. Sure, you miss some of the people but you meet plenty of people on the trail. I carried the 8kg all of the way, no postal service required, and the map got me lost on many occasions. But that was just part of the adventure. Thanks for the advice. Keep walking, keep up the great work. Hope to cross you on the way one day.
Thank you Rene! It takes a lot of courage to fulfill the dreams nearly always seem to difficlut/distant to chase. But once the heart is there, the strenth is there too💚🙏 hugs
CANNOT WAIT! Walking our 4th Camino beginning in SJPP, starting 12 April. Have treasured every single step. You are so correct, the nature and simplicity are magical!
Muchas gracias, Ricky. I'm starting to plan my first Camino for June to July 2023 via the Camino Frances. Your videos on the Camino are very entertaining and a very big help. I'm very grateful to you.
Hello my Camino Friend! The French Camino is a great adventure that is Impossible to describe! I hope you will take the most out of it and if you need some extra info, now I ll be posting some videos also from French Way that I did this year. Hugs 🤗 and maybe see you next year on the Camino
Although i can not walk well enough to do this now, i would like to have but now i enjoy it vicariously through your videos. One of my favourite movies is "the Way", produced by Emilio Estevez (not his brother Charlie Sheen.) MARTIN SHEEN plays the father in the movie, who is struggling with the loss of his son (played by Martin's real son Emilio.) He does it very touchingly. In struggling with his grief and loss, he decides (although mostly unprepared and uninformed,) to take on the challenging journey of the Camino on behalf of his late son, inadvertently, taking his grief out on fellow walkers, who all have their own reasons and issues. A heart-wrenching story with fabulous views and interesting information. There are many amazing walking tracks in New Zealand, but I have missed out on them too. I hope your readers/watchers get out there and have these amazing experiences while they still can, and most of all be well-informed and prepared from watching these videos. Thank you so much for including the part in one of your videos about taking care of the feet. SO IMPORTANT!! Bless all!
Lyn! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. The Way is deffinately the movie worth to watch, and for many, the first meeting with Camino. And from what I see, when talking with many pilgrims on the way, they all have an important reason for their Journey. Stay connected and accompany us in our walks on Camino Portuguese and French this year, we will post many personal content! Big hugs for you
I am planning to do the Camino del Norte in October 2022. I have only done the Camino from Sarria due to time available. I have since listened and watched many RUclips Camino comments and advice. This is one of the most structured and comprehensive I have seen and listened to. A very good prestation and good advice especially on the financial side.
Thank you Albert! I was preparing this video for few weeks and I m glad it can be of some help! The Camino del norte is a unforgettable experiance, and there is also the chance to take the Camino primitivo or follow the coast! You will enjoy it sooo much :) btw, be prepared as the first 6 days in vasc country are a phisical challenge and its better to prepare before :) any time you have any questions, ask without doubt! Buen Camino

Hi this is Ian from England you may or not remember but we met on the Primitivo last year (I was chased uphill by the horse haha). Loving this video it’s informative and funny. I plan on walking part of the Camino Levante from Toledo this year from June 6th. Good luck on the Camino Frances and buen Camino

I m happy with you, as this is an unforgettable journey :) thanks for a feedback, it motivates me to share the love for Camino with others , buen Camino
Welcome! I ll be posting videos of Camino portuguese this summer as I m currently on it, maybe it can be helpful for you :) hope to see you on the way, hugs
Very enjoyable, your humorous practical presentation was great. There is so much information out there, but yours was simple and reassuring. Thank you for your knowledge and sharing with us. I have walked Camino(s) but always love to hear others thoughts. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
You are so kind Christine! I m glad ypu got this reassuring vibe, as It was my hidden purpose. You ve been there, you know that Camino takes care of all, nothing to worry about ! Buen camino
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am planning my 1st Camino for April 2023, the Portuguese Way. I have completed a few international backpacking adventures and feel like I have a good base to support me, but understand that there is much to explore and learn.
You are always ready for the Camino 👌 if you walk a bit before you will be fine! Keep the eye on the channel as tomorrow I’m starting the Portuguese way again and will post some useful tips ;) hugs
I truly enjoying your content and your funny way of storytelling. Could you please share some meditation that you used on the Camino? I’m curious about it. I’m actually in saint Jean now, starting tomorrow and I want to build a routine for this journey. Some insights will be truly appreciated 🙏🏻 Greetings!
Big hugs to you and I’m so excited for your journey… the few options I could suggest would be to observe some silence while walking(in some parts not all day as talking to other pilgrims is also a part of Camino), meditation 10-15 min just when you get to the albergue( just observe the tired body, and the let go), and as well, what could be a interesting practice, conscious eating… The walk itself will bring you many answers on what is necessary if you pay attention… hope it give you more ideas, if no, write me an email (sometimesnotalways9@gmail.com) and I can explain myself better, hugs
@@caminotellers thank you so much for the kind thoughts, Ricky 🙏🏻 And for taking the time to answer me. Conscious eating sounds pretty interesting. I try to be careful with what I’m eating during the Camino so this will fit perfectly in my plans. Btw, I was talking with some other pilgrims in the albergue about you and they also watch your content, so you are pretty popular on this Camino generation. 😁 Thanks again, Ricky, for the great content and the energy you put on it. Hugs from us! 🤗🤗
I'll be starting the Camino Frances in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on August 1st! Thanks for this awesome Video, I can't wait to experience being a pilgrim myself!!
Emma! One thing that I haven’t mention in the video is the “stone” tradition … if you have any purpose, problem or worry, put it all in the stone, and once you walk the French Camino, there will be a place that you can leave it, a pure transformative moment! Hugs 🤗
I loved your video. Sound advice especially the socks! You can have the best boots in the world but without the best socks they are worthless! A merino wool does not smell much! Take care and stay safe 🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing. I am trying to arrive at St Jean in France on April 7. Taking the bus from Madrid and train to St Jean. Planning 40 days to get to the ocean. Are there places to stay at after Compostella to the ocean? Looking forward to your next video.
@@RichNock1 we'll be crossing our paths, amazing! Same as you, I ll be heading till ocean (Finisterre) and there are plenty of places, including algergues, as it is a popular Camino (santiago-finisterre). I hope you ll be healthy and persistent, buen Camino
Did the Camino Frances in 2015, the Camino Portuguese in 2018. Forever in my heart and soul. Want to do the Via de la Plata on another trip. Love your channel!
Thanks Liz! Who did a Camino is an eternal forever pilgrim :) I' m actually thinking about making the Via de Plata just after I finish the French Part, from Cádiz! Hugs for you and Buen Camino
That would be amazing! We are heading for the beatiful spring time ❤ so lets enjoy it, and if you see me there, call my name and "ricky" and lets celebrate!
Hello Ryan, I intend to start the camino last day of April of first week of May, this year from SJPP by Camino Frances .. hopefully our paths crosses some where,.. Cheers ! Buen Camino.. 🇨🇦
@@jagdevdosanjh4611 it’s possible we will cross paths if we catch you up, my wife and I will start our Camino from St Jean on 29th April. Buen Camino. Ricky, we will be following you to see what we have to look forward to, this is our first Camino.
@@anthonydeakin3834 Thank you Anthony, for the very nice encouraging message, I’m also thinking that try to avoid the rain in early April and try to start late April or the first week of May, I’m also in contact with Pilgrim Camino , company in Spain to pre pay for 7/10 days at a time to see how far I can walk, or if I have to abandoned the walk and then go back few months later, I also need some health related material and they will will carry my small bag day to day, they will also make my reservations in Private albergues etc. I’m 72 and widower, need to know where I will be sleeping etc. God willing ,hopefully I will be. Able to walk as much as I can at this age. This will also be my first walk on the Camino. It would be pleasure to meet you on the Camino, till then Buen Camino, keep well. Cheers ! 🇨🇦
That would be magnificent to meet, btw, this is a great adventure for the father and the son... its a great thing to share something with your close ones, and something so special as Camino even more! Sending you big hugs an hopefully see you soon, buen Camino
@@grantlong5540 likewise, your journey with the son will be one of a highlight of the trip for everybody, so I probably will be able to recognize you. Buen Camino
Love your work, thank you for sharing! I've done the Via Podiensis and hope in the next couple of years to do Chemin d'Arles, Camino Frances, switching onto the San Salvador and then Camino Primitivo :-) .....
Started from Moscow. I made my Camino Frances from Pamplona to Santiago on my folding bike in 10 days in 2014. It was wild! I don`t think i will do it again, but...you saw some crosses with names on your way? These people snored...
Thanks for the tips. To me personally any camino without people present would be simply a crime against humanity. The hidden ones would love to isolate us but we shall persevere.
Thank you so much! It is a dream of mine to go back to my family’s heritage and experience the land this way, and I plan to embark 2023. I would like to research which way is the way for me. Your videos help a lot!
Nowadays, no vaccinations necessary! I did the French camino 2monts after posting this video and I had only few episodes with the vaccination regulations … so, now is only a personal choice rather then the government case. Hugs
I have been toying with doing my own pilgrimage but have so many questions. This will not be my first long distance trip. I did 200 miles up the Cumbrian Coast and across Hadrian's wall last year. My first and biggest question is, I'll be doing it by off road wheelchair. From the snippets in your video everything (except maybe the beach) I could manage, though the forest would greatly slow me down. How much would you say is well compacted earth/ surfaced and how much is rougher ground? Is one route or another better for easy surfaces? I've got about 2 weeks available with me covering 15 to 20 miles a day (my average speed is generally under 4 miles an hour, though I don't know how much the heat will slow me down) Is it possible to camp along the camino? Many thanks, I'm just starting to investigate this so will go and watch lots of other videos and read more
Hi! How are you? Let me come back to you with satisfying answer as there is lots of subjects to be considered, for the moment I'll tell you that it's more then possible for the bikers, shouldn't be a problem for you, espetially with the experience that you already have. Big hugs and text me on sometimesnotalways9@gmail.com to continue the conversation
Hi camino traveler, my son and I are going to do camino at the start of May from sarria ,feeling a little nervous but looking forward to seeing all the sights, and of course the food. BTW great video.
Hi Barry. My wife and I walked the mini camino from Sarria during May 2019 (our first) We are now in the planning stages for our second camino which will hopefully start at the end of April this year. My wife will turn 80 this year and I will turn 83 in November this year. We are also feeling nervous, but this been planned since we completed our mini camino and we are looking forward to it with enormous enthusiasm. It really is infectious Regards, Graham & Heather
Hi traveler . Thanks for sharing great information about El Camino de Santiago. I'm planning to walk from North Coast in July and wanna know if it is still necessary to bring wool fleece and rain jacket as I believe it will be hot on that time. any recommendation?
Hi Sanam! Rain, yes, it will rain, doesn't really matter the season. The woolen fleece.. take a long sleeve jacket and if you feel cold, just walk faster ;)
Camping in Spain is not legal, if not on the designated camping spots! you can find many of them along the way. but probably you will still have to pay for them, so sleeping in albergues is advisable... Join our Thursday Q&A and ask any question: ruclips.net/user/livee4dHf2sb_Zs?feature=share
Completed Frances in 2019 and coming back to do it again this month. As a veteran of many Caminos, do you bother getting more Compostelas? It was fun getting the stamps before but not sure I want to bother again. Concentrating on my spiritual well being is my goal ❤️ & 🕊
Hi Liz :) the action is always guided by my heart, so whatever I decide I always make sure these both go hand in hand. I hope you will enjoy the Camino 💚💚
This year I did two of the most popular 100km, From Sarria and From Tui. I ll making comparative video about these two and each of them separately, stay connected ;) hugs
Gracias, me encanta tu mensaje final. Creo seria un gran video. Piensalo....Will be doing camino Frances starting 30th of September this year 2022. have 30 days to walk and was thinking starting in Pamplona to be safe. This is my first Camino and I might be going by myself. How is the weather in October? Are things more relaxed with covid now days? Thank you so much for the information will watch more of them Love and Blessings Peregrinos...
October, take a feather jacket with you as it will be coldish… sleeping bag and rain gear is a must! But it’s worth it, it’s a magical time to walk the camino. There is no sigh of COVID any more, all open and ready for pilgrims! Check what date the albergues are closed in November? Hugs
hello my dear: I dream about doing the camino but i am afraid to leave my two kids behind at home. Do you think that walking with a 9 and 13 y/o is doable?
My friends from @GettingLostOnTheTrail would be able to share with you the experience as they just walk the French Camino with all the family!!! Check their videos -all is possible! So pack your bags and come around :) hugs
Wonderful video, thank you - just at the right time for us as we start to get ready to walk C Frances in April. After the delays because of Covid, we cannot quite believe it's going to happen.
Dreams come true, sometimes timing is an issue :) tommorow I ll post the video about the shoes if you still havent decided which one. See you on the Camino! Yupiiiii
Great video! Such an inspiration. I plan to do the Camino de frances (Leon to Santiago). I am not sure where to start. I want to bike and stay in hostels. Any advice?
Thanks Joseph! Check the principal camino apps (I did video about it) for the albergues and hostels and …enjoy the trip! If you have a chance, do it till Finisterre ;) let me know if you have more questions.. Hugs
Many people do it, in the wild and in the desígnate places… many albergues have a camping side. I can’t give you a definite answer now, if I get hold of someone who does know, I ll let you know :) hugs
Yes, they are fully equiped places, similar to the hostels- kitchen, bathrooms/showers and some great vibe too! Many have washing mashines, or there is one no far from the place.
There are a few organized trips (accommodation included) tackling only the last 120 km of the journey (I guess it's more beginner friendly?). How much would these tips apply to that?
I would recommend… to do it without the company that organises all, it’s made easy for pilgrims to DIY… but if you decide to do it with the company, similar knowledge applies, please clarify with your agency for specific details… P.d. Do it on your own ;)
Donna! how are you? May is a busy month, so if you see to many pilgrims on the way, maybe it would be worth considering Camino de Invierno afrter Ponferrada, to avoid busy Stages of Sarria-santiago... also you can take some sun protection with you, as it will get hot and sunny! and the most important, ENJOY ;) hugs
Thanks a lot! I've been walking the French way for last 9 days and I' ve been asked for the vaccine certificate only once. On the 20th the Spanish goverment cancels the mandatory mask usage... this are the current facts of the Camino. If anything changes, I ll be updating immediately:) hugs
Thank you so much! I’m doing the Portuguese Caminho Lisbon to Santiago June 1st. I want to make sure everything runs smooth. I will be taking with me plenty of rapid tests just in case. I did the French Way in 2017 and it was unforgettable. I have the Camino in my blood now. I came across your videos a few days ago and wish I had seen them a long time ago. You are funny, witty and so, so informative. Thank you so much! I have subscribed and I don’t ever do that. God bless you and Bon Camino!!!
@@anaormonde9720 💚💚 thank you so much! Thats a camino fever, once you do it, you never stop! Hi Jenny! Normally pilgrims would say - all the months are good! But there are some buts.. spring time is beatiful in northen spain, summer time is amazing but it can get hot, autumn could get rainy and winter is... winter! The summer months will be definately the bussiest option, espetialy the french Camino. And if you include the news that the pope is coming in august, this can get really busy... i dont know if it is a helpful answer, but there is no one type of responce. Hugs
We plan to travel one of the Camino trails in 2023. Is March or April a good time of year to travel. We are from USA. We are currently working to build our hiking skills prior to traveling over seas.
Hi Debbie! Sorry for the late answer but I was walking the Salt Satyagraha in India and just finished. the season for camino starts in April- all mayor Albergues/hostels open at this time… the weather is already nice, could rain a bit but it’s nothing close to the unbearable august summer. Frequent walking anywhere would be enough for building the muscle resistance and getting them used to prolong efforts. During my preparation we were going for a long weekends, where we would continuously walk for 3 days(each day 20k) and sleeping along the track, so we could see how the body reacts to this long effort. Any questions , please, let me know, hugsssss
I don't usually leave comments but I love this video so much I couldn't resist! Laughed out loud to myself when you looked to the side camera and asked if pilgrims from centuries ago used agencies then stroked your beard 😄 Thank you for reminding me to be brave. Hoping work will allow me to take 6 weeks off and I'll be able to do Frances this autumn by myself, meeting people along the way.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am planning my 1st Camino for April 2023, the Portuguese Way. I have completed a few international backpacking adventures and feel like I have a good base to support me, but understand that there is much to explore and learn.

I truly enjoying your content and your funny way of storytelling.
Could you please share some meditation that you used on the Camino? I’m curious about it.
I’m actually in saint Jean now, starting tomorrow and I want to build a routine for this journey. Some insights will be truly appreciated 🙏🏻
Greetings!
Big hugs to you and I’m so excited for your journey… the few options I could suggest would be to observe some silence while walking(in some parts not all day as talking to other pilgrims is also a part of Camino), meditation 10-15 min just when you get to the albergue( just observe the tired body, and the let go), and as well, what could be a interesting practice, conscious eating…
The walk itself will bring you many answers on what is necessary if you pay attention… hope it give you more ideas, if no, write me an email (sometimesnotalways9@gmail.com) and I can explain myself better, hugs
@@caminotellers thank you so much for the kind thoughts, Ricky 🙏🏻
And for taking the time to answer me.
Conscious eating sounds pretty interesting. I try to be careful with what I’m eating during the Camino so this will fit perfectly in my plans.
Btw, I was talking with some other pilgrims in the albergue about you and they also watch your content, so you are pretty popular on this Camino generation. 😁
Thanks again, Ricky, for the great content and the energy you put on it.
Hugs 🤗

I did NOT vaccinate and I did the camino 2 times and perfectly fine.
I've got about 2 weeks available with me covering 15 to 20 miles a day (my average speed is generally under 4 miles an hour, though I don't know how much the heat will slow me down)
Is it possible to camp along the camino?
Many thanks, I'm just starting to investigate this so will go and watch lots of other videos and read more

Thanks for the great content. Do you have to be vaccinated to go do Camino this next year 2024? How would I find out this information?
No, no vaccinations needed no more.
Hugs
Wondering if tents camping is aloud along the trails?
Many people do it, in the wild and in the desígnate places… many albergues have a camping side. I can’t give you a definite answer now, if I get hold of someone who does know, I ll let you know :) hugs
Do the alburges have showers?
Yes, they are fully equiped places, similar to the hostels- kitchen, bathrooms/showers and some great vibe too! Many have washing mashines, or there is one no far from the place.
There are a few organized trips (accommodation included) tackling only the last 120 km of the journey (I guess it's more beginner friendly?). How much would these tips apply to that?
I would recommend… to do it without the company that organises all, it’s made easy for pilgrims to DIY… but if you decide to do it with the company, similar knowledge applies, please clarify with your agency for specific details…
P.d. Do it on your own ;)
I’m looking at May/June 2023 Camino France, have you any tips specific for this time of year?
Donna! how are you? May is a busy month, so if you see to many pilgrims on the way, maybe it would be worth considering Camino de Invierno afrter Ponferrada, to avoid busy Stages of Sarria-santiago... also you can take some sun protection with you, as it will get hot and sunny! and the most important, ENJOY ;) hugs
Hello, thank you for this great video. My question is do we need to have the vaccine to do the Caminho? Or just a PCR negative test enough?
Thanks a lot! I've been walking the French way for last 9 days and I' ve been asked for the vaccine certificate only once. On the 20th the Spanish goverment cancels the mandatory mask usage... this are the current facts of the Camino. If anything changes, I ll be updating immediately:) hugs

Hi! What’s the best month to go?
Laughed out loud to myself when you looked to the side camera and asked if pilgrims from centuries ago used agencies then stroked your beard 😄
