    I can relate. I received a degree in Computer Science and ended up getting a "temporary" security job that lasted around 8 years because I became depressed and complacent. Finally shit hit the fan in that toxic environment and I got removed from the site at which I worked.
    Sounds bad, but a major weight was lifted off of my shoulders and I no longer had to deal with the situation, which allowed me to focus on getting my foot in the door of the career I wanted. I am now a software engineer.
    At the time I got removed, I was pretty upset about how it happened, but I quickly realized that God doesn't care about your ego/pride. If you have faith in Him, He will get you to your destination one way or another.

    I relate to everything that brother Mike is talking about. I used to be a producer for Black entertainment television BET, I co-created Spring Bling. I used to produce Rap City tha Bassment. There are so many rappers that we see today that I was a visual hand behind but I made the mistake of standing up in 2006 about sexual harassment. It happened to me and I spoke up about it happening to Black women in Entertainment, and I was blacklisted so fast and so hard by BET. I never had a moment to end my career there to correct way and it bothered me for years. I absolutely had to come to grips with that reality that I did NOT lose, I stood up for a cause that was bigger than me and yes, way before the Me Too movement. I spoke about what women were going through in the music & entertainment industry back in 2005 and 2006 in particularly with black women were going through an entertainment industry. The blacklist hurt, thinking I lost hurt...until I realized I ain't lose a damn thing... I def feel their pain & redemption.

    Often times people try to hold open a door that God is closing; it happened to me. I was released from a job with these words on a piece of paper: “Our production no longer warrants your position.” I had been at that company for 9 years at which I held and prospered in multiple positions. Then they said, “... and there is nothing else for you here.” It hurt at the time, but I eventually came to realize that there were greater things that God had for me. Those final words firmly closed that chapter of my life so that I could be about His business. Michael you are 100% right, it was a win for Jemele.

    It's just sad that regardless of the level you reach, the story is still the same. I'm happy for Jemele and happy that Michael was able to get through this TRAUMATIC experience. People have no idea the amount of trauma our culture takes on and yet still smiles, laughs and perseveres.

Then I watched this video and the black love, intelligence, beauty, confidence, growth, self assessment,truth and brotha to sista and sista to brotha caring and trust brightened my day and forced me to smile. Much love to the two of you, keep winning 🙏.

    Ya’ll used to talk about it all the time.
    You would even refer to this future moment, after you’d been fired.
    The real surprise was how it all got past the BigFourLetter.
    Excluding any non compete agreement, I strongly encourage you all to find a vehicle together. Your chemistry is still there, that’s so valuable.

    • @ParisTheGreat
      @ParisTheGreat 3 года назад

      Numbers Never Lie was where it started, His and Hers was more deep bc they talked about topics unrelated to sports, so that made that show the shit! I remember the last few episodes of His and hers and they looked so sad bc they were leaving the show but tried to keep us, the viewers, happy by saying the 6ix was going to be just as good....I knew they were lying 😓😢🤧

    I am so glad they had this conversation, awakening for us all who supported them through al the BS. I was not really a sports fan until Jemele and Michael. I loved the witty reparte between them on the show and they not only had me really look at and think about basketball but beyond that the landscape of sports, sports reporting and representation in sports. They are advocates for us all and that was what captured me about them in particular. Jemele demonstrated that there is no separation of what she does for a living before the camera and what she believes in, what's important to her and Mike did the same. They are thriving now and I am personally so grateful for that!

Be nice if both of you could merge your intellectual prowess and your charisma with that of Roland Martin, Karen Hunter, and Dr. Gregg Carr to form an impenetrable "Dream Team" of some sort. I have rooted for Jemele (and Michael) since the first day of _His & Hers_. I’ve always believed in Jemele’s talent and appreciated her work, and I enjoyed her book!
    And I am SO glad that she and Mike were able to have this public conversation. NO two sports anchors have ever enjoyed each other as much as they did-because they were close friends _before_ they started working together-and that joy popped off the screen and got into US! I MISS that, but I understand that it had to end, and Mike straight PREACHED about it for me to understand why!!! I am so proud of them both and so happy for them and the legacy they created, leaving room for others to have an important platform to pick up where they left off.
    And finally: Jemele is probably *the most unbearably and senselessly BEAUTIFUL woman ever to walk the earth*. ❤❤😁😁 (Yes, I respect she’s married, but I had to get that off my chest. 😅)

    It's funny. Espn at 6 is getting lower ratings now, after they left. Lol. Espn went full tilt conservative and now they're trying to swing back because they guessed wrong. Which is why they're pushing bomani Jones who thought he was on the outs also. Micheal Smith was and still is one of the best NFL reporters (he covered the patriots before Esspn) in sports entertainment. I like jemelle hill but Micheal was the "actual" sports journalist. He was a reporter and a writer. Jemelle to me is a writer. A great one though. But I don't and never considered her a journalist per say. Which is why the avenue her career has gone down fits her beautifully.
