Your video is the only one that helped me. I have the type with the clips and you showed both types of clips. Thank you so much. After a lot of aggravation, after watching your video I have finally replaced the bulbs. THANK YOU!!
So appreciated that you made it 'simplez'... that's after watching other videos and trying to remove the whole lamp unit from the ceiling..Great work THANK YOU so much.
Hi, my ceiling lights dont have a twist or rotation feature to remove it, it can only be tilted on single axis. Do you know how i can swap a globe? Thanks
thank you for the informative diy vid,,one question and its probably silly,, do you switch off the mains power to do these globe replacements? i understand the light switch should be off, but is there a danger
You should switch it off to be 100% sure because there would be some power there in case someone messed up the wiring (and the switch cuts off the neutral) or your switch has the backlight function. The current would be low but still could be dangerous. Even if you would not be killed by it, you can fall of the ladder
Great clear, concise video. Quick (and possible dumb) question - can you just swap them like regular bulbs or do you have to power down / shut breaker off?
gazza listermint. ...Mine is stuck too...I'm going to have to replace the whole thing. No choice. Mine is 3 inches wide with just a frosted glass cover. I can't get to the bulb at all. I think that some may be made that you can't remove the lid. I see no other solution. ??? It's a pain. Mine is in our RV.

Great video, just moved into a new house and i have the exact same spot lights and just couldn't work out how to replace the bulbs as i have only been used to pushing the ring wire together to release the unit.
Does it matter what type of GU10 led bulb is used for recessed downlights? I've heard there is some risk of fire but I can't find any information regarding which ones are best and what not to use. All I have are Philips 410 lumen.
Thank you so much, I have removed the LED light easily. in my kitchen cabinet i have a little sensor just beside the led light, which probably act when the cabinet is open and close. when the cabinet is open its act to switch on the light and when the cabinet is close its helps to switch off the light . May be that sensor has a battery which i need to change, can you show how to replace the battery? it would be more clear if i would show you in the picture.
I'm in the same boat as many of the folks here. I've got a recessed bulb I can't seem to "push and twist" (at all), and if I try to take the cover or can (or whatever the thing the bulb is in is called), it seems that I'm going to pull the drywall down with it. It's not clear what comes out -- the bulb or the cover or the can (if it's a can). Honestly, I can't tell. What to do?
@Fuckoff Google I had to pay an electrician to come out, and it turned out to be a good thing that I did. The recessed light had a halogen bulb in it that was burning through the electrical wires thus it was a fire hazard. I paid $100 but my townhouse hasn't burned down, and then went to Home Depot for a replacement. Some of these recessed lights are not at all like these RUclips videos, and there was no video that covered my situation. In general, I do think they are installed and taken out as indicated here, but with so many difference, sometimes we just have to spend the $$$.
Hello, in the United States do you use lamps with a gu10 socket? Could you explain what is appropriate? What spotlights would you use to illuminate the interior of a hotel in the USA?
Are the sockets different for regular halogen and LED GU10 bulbs? I think I have a bad socket because the 110v GU10 50w halogen bulb only lasts a few weeks; I've replaced 5 of them in 8 months. The other 9 GU10 bulbs haven't burned out. The replacement socket I bought on eBay from China says it's an LED halogen GU10 socket. My bulbs aren't LED.
I would try to match up bulb with a home depot product. Don't know if that would help. Home depot products overall are made for American circuitry. Ebay may be selling for European circuitry or just not be up to USA codes... not certain... just a hunch...
Oh, I wish ours came out of the ceiling like that. It's all fixed so we have to fiddle around with our arms in the air hoping to get the pins exactly in the holes. Took me just over 9 minutes for the first one I tried then half that for the second.
Your video is exceedingly helpful but a groaner... I didn't see the twist of the inner ring and managed to pull the whole trim/bulb assembly from the can. Now I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to get the four clips to hold the trim. Any video or insight on how to do that? I've seen lots on RUclips but not this kind of downlight. Mine has four clips right at the bottom of the can. They are currently bent in a < . Many thanks, keep up good work.
Bear in mind there are different types of fitting, and different types of bulb. I watched 3 videos to find one that worked for me. Sometimes you press and rotate the bulb, sometimes you pull it. Sometimes you rotate the inner besel, sometimes you pull out the whole fitting. It's misleading for each video to just say 'this is the way you do it'!
Mine too, and when I tried to change the bulb, I found out that the inner ring is joined to the outer one with pair of rivets. I was able to release the bulb from the inner ring, but just deeper into the ceiling and I couldn't get it out. I thought that I would need to change the whole fitting anyway, so I tried to pry it out and surprisingly it worked. :-)
Hi kahlo, there are many different types of LED globes, some do flash when the power is turned off. This is generally a discharge of the capacitor and is not a fault of the globe itself. If you are concerned, I suggest taking the globe back to where you bought it as they may offer some solutions.
The problem I have is that the socket is stuck. I try to turn anti clockwise but it doesn’t move and there’s no grip - I have several bulbs stuck in the house at the moment 😩
Hi Emilio! For more stubborn sockets we would recommend using an assistive tool, such as this GU10 suction cup. www.ebay.com.au/itm/332015745572 Cheers
The led bulb in my bathroom is part of the extractor fan. It pushes up and twists to come out. I tried to replace the bulb, but the bulb is so fragile, it just disintegrated! Way too fragile! This means I’ll have to get an electrician in to change the bulb every time it goes out. The first bulb didn’t last very long at all. I’m very unimpressed.
I bought my house a couple years ago and didn’t pay much attention to the lights in the “newer” bathroom although I did notice they were not as efficient in lighting the space so there were four lights when the space should have had only two. The light above my toilet recently blew out. It is much more complicated then what you show here. 58 years I’ve lived in houses that never required anything more then twisting a bulb. I am so furious over this crap I may pay to have all of these psycho earth lights removed and replaced with normal lights. No one who doesn’t have a full time house manager at the mansion wants time and money inefficient bulbs.
@@AndrewsLightUpAUSthanks for replying I really appreciate it, on my mouth it would turn indefinitely at least until the wires got tangled up on the inside but there was a notch on the sides to shove a screwdriver in and pop one of the clips loose!
The fitting refuses to move and now the damn thing is chipped because i had to try and force it with a screwdriver, i've injured my hand now and the bulb can't be removed and the fitting is damaged. Jesus christ, of only things were simple.

Thanks. You are the only helpful person I could find to simply change the bulb. Much appreciated.
Thank you. Took less than a minute thanks to these simple instructions.
Much appreciated, my first attempt at changing down lights went smoothly 🙏🏻
Great to hear!

Push and twist - literally saved my life in 3 words😂

Brilliant. So simple and quick. Thanks so much!

Simple and sleek video. Thanks. It was helpful
Great video. Easy to see what is done and what the parts are.
Thanks so much mate, your a lifesaver. Earned a new sub.
Thanks for showing the different types of spring clips, etc.
No problem!
Great but how do u get the actual bulb out when it's stuck in its connection holder mine is stuck cheers
gazza listermint: did Andrew ever answer you? This sounds like the same predicament I’m currently in.

That’s my problem too
Supposedly a suction cup is needed.
Any tips on how to remove the trim if it is stuck and won’t move?
Thank you for this very clear explanation. You’re a lifesaver ! 🙂
Or a lightsaver - whichever, very helpful 😁
Quick and easy, thank you!

Thank you for this. How to you replace the bulb from the fitting two along to the right on your video? These are in my bathroom and can’t do them
did you figure this out? i have the one to the right of the one he’s showing
Same problem here :(
Do you have video for the light beside that one?
Wonderful explanation step by step

Should I shut down the power b4 replacing the bulb? Please let me know Sir!!!
turn the light switch to off
You're risking if you don't. Your question even implies you know there is a risk. No way I would take.... that chance...
No need to turn your home power off, but as Gerald said, make sure your light switch is in the off position.
Clear and helpful. Thank you!!

Can you show how to change it with the one on the right?
Thank you, I had a faulty light that needed changing but I had no clue how
Did all this but the bulb is stuck and it won't turn. Any suggestions? This one is in the bathroom shower.
Helpful for me. Thanks
The one in my ceiling looks similar to the 4th one over in the beginning of the video, that's almost off-screen. How do I get that one out?
Mine too, and when I tried to change the bulb, I found out that the inner ring is joined to the outer one with pair of rivets. I was able to release the bulb from the inner ring, but just deeper into the ceiling and I couldn't get it out. Mine has metal springs on the sides and there is no socket, just wores going directly inside the beige tip.need to find another video
WEAR GLOVES! There are some very sharp edges around the housing and I cut through my calloused right hand twice
Wow awesome. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
How do you identify which Bulb is suitable?
Good explanation
How to remove square pin light assembly? Not the bulb but the whole assembly? Cant find any screw.

Now i know how to replace my bulbs
Mine wont twist, It's like it's siezed or something, i really need help. it wont turn either direction at all.
Thank you 💋I fix my self by watch yr video..
Thank you!
Switching out gu10 halogen to led and the lights flash when turned off at the switch why would this be and how to rectify?

Where did you get that housing? What's the part number?

I do not like this kind of lamps. they are beautiful but they are not easy to change..thank you for your explanation.

Good thing I seen this because I would’ve tried to force twist it
Tks 💪🏼💪🏼
informative! thanks
Dunno mine will not unscrew... If I push the bulb in towards the ceiling it will not in a little but that's it, turning it both ways stops it
Hi James, there are many different types of down lights. If you're able to send us a photo of yours we may be able to help.

Great! Thank you so much!

Andrew I got a question.. it did not work.. SOS! 🚨
UPDATE: the lightbulb is currently in the roof/floor... send back up..
Hi Chaneil - not sure what you are asking, so not sure how we can assist.
I’m having a job twisting mine feels completely stuck
Same, did you get any luck in the end ?
Thanks
It didn't work for me. Why???
Thanks so much

Why the bulb change
🔥👍
Thank you
Lamps light bulbs grow
Cunterclock wise
Anti-clockwise. Counter-clockwise is counter intuitive.
