Your report lacks some context. The UMC holds its General Conference every four years (2012, 2016, etc.). The last GC was in 2016, so it has not yet been a decade. The 2020 GC was thrown off by Covid, but the current 2024 GC happens by schedule, not because the church needed an emergency meeting, even if current agenda items are more urgent than usual.
The Bible doesn’t change for the people the people need to change for the Bible. EVERYONE is welcome at our church but as a church it’s our job to make sure you know the word of the Bible and don’t attempt to manipulate the meaning to fit your lifestyle… Read Corinthians and it’s a clear picture of what happens when you begin down this road. It’s simple. Love god and love your neighbor. I love everyone and pray that they can build a relationship with god and repent.. not continue down their path of sins. In the end god judges, not man.

They haven't followed the teachings of the Lord Jesus for many years now. They can no longer be considered a Christian church.
Denomination is a mathmatical term. The lower number in a fraction is the denominator. Not a whole, broken. Christs prayer in John 17 is for HIS church to be one.

A church that simply reflects its surrounding culture be it right or left wing is largely unnecessary.

Tax churches, they are just businesses like any other, its the only business that is tax exempt and that makes no sense.

@@SolemnseraphThe Constitution only meant to prevent a church being mandated from government. In no way did it suggest someone can't run/be voted in based on religious beliefs.
There's a UMC church in my town and the steeple with the cross on it fell off. Appropriate.

I used to like getting inside the UMCS where I was baptized and my parents were married and exploring them over and over. But both of them defected last year. Now I can't even stand to look at pictures of them.

The Bible does not alter to accommodate the desires of man. Do not be fooled. The Lord warned us of this. Read your Bible. We are not called to follow man, but God. Do not be fooled. Eternity is forever.

No one is required to be a member of a church. If you don't like your churches teachings, just go to another church.
It would be a bit like doctor shopping, but whatever makes you feel right I guess.
It's actually pretty ridiculous. Denominations will cherry-pick the Bible pretty hard as they see fit, so it basically isn't really Christianity anymore. It's "ooh, I like what it says in this part, so I'll just use this to justify how I want to live and pretend the other parts don't exist" even though the Bible itself is pretty darn clear not to do that. It ends up being really divisive, which doesn't help anyone.

The military has standards that must be met to join. By definition, that makes it exclusive. The idea of inclusion has gone way overboard.

@@skyyyrose These "churches" are businesses/marketplaces. Jesus said to stop making His Father's House a marketplace. These are NOT the church. The Church is in the believer who worships in the truth and Spirit (John 4). God says true believers MUST worship in the truth and Spirit, not in Jerusalem or a temple, which also follows not in a cathedral or any other church building. What regular place was given to early Christians? They were being slaughtered because it was illegal to be Christian. These are the prostitute churches that bore out of Babylon the Great (Rev 17), the harlot catholic church. They are not God's church. They continue in her prostitutions to the world.

None of the churches of Christendom ' live on every word from Jehovah's mouth ', but rather set their own church doctrines and standards, such as acceptance of the LGBTQ community, as Jeremiah 5:23 stated of the nation of fleshly Israel: "But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; They have turned aside and gone their own way."

99% of homeless help comes from churches. Anyone who thinks we should tax churches are ignorant and have no idea what that actually means for the world we live in. 99% of churches can't even pay the bills they have. Let alone giving money to a government that increasing works against the mission of the churches.
