I have a '96, 5 speed running 31" but I put 2" blocks between body and frame all around. picked up some upper control arms on Amazon for '99.00 but they alone won't work because of the angle it puts the cv axles. I pointed out to the seller that they won't work without the rest of the stuff in the $500 kit and lowering the diff. too, that I'm 63, disabled and that removing, installing, then doing it again to put old control arms back was a whipping so she returned money said I could keep the control arms. Figure I'll get a correct pattern for the adapter mounts, cut them out with plasma, and then lower my diff. I will pick up these keys and shackles. I picked up this '96 for $600 3 years ago with a broken rev/5th shift fork, dropped the trans and bought a new shift fork for $52 and just have fun fixing it up. I've owned 6 and fixed countless in my shop near Denver over the last 20 years. I still have my shop out back, but just for myself and friends. I've done 350 swaps and really want to do an LS into mine. But this NV3500 5 speed behind this 4.3 has plenty of balls. Thanks for the key and shackle info. Also, I picked up some LED headlight on Amazon for cheap, but they are listed under Kenworth. Merry Christmas everyone.
Not for you my man, but yo viewers. With the plate forward the shackle can use that plate against frame rail rolled forward in a "tension" style, what THIS is going for is a "compression" style shackle lift....just an FYI, these are also used in trailer and car applications all the time. Just make sure you know what you are going before installing your "universal" parts! Hope that helps clear up the "pretty sure these are backwards " for the kid reading this
I raised my front by going to a salvage yard and buying the torsion bars from a zr2, however I can't level it to the back because I ran out of adjustment for camber. Torsion bars on a zr2 are thicker and gives it a stiffer ride like a 4x4.
I hate that happened to you but I've had great luck with it. I drive it offroad and on road with no premature failures. I'm not easy on the truck either.
Nonchalant 45 says what?, my P220 stays on my passenger seat as well ;) and you are correct, on 90% of Soa and shackle kits. The plate always faces rear
Is this all you've done lift wise to the truck? I already have shackles on my s10, but I need to get the torsion keys. Does the air shocks lift it even more or does it just even out the back?
So far I have had one axle go out but I am unsure of it’s age to begin with, so far ball joints have held up after 2.5 years. Recently got the drop bracket and control arms installed. We’ll see how it goes
I’ve got some 31x10.50 I’ve got a rough country lift kit but haven’t got around to putting it on I’m wondering if I can make my new wheels fit by cranking my keys up and cutting my fenders some
It's traditionally under the spring pack. Swapping the axle from ontop to under the spine pack used to be a common practice but on the s10 it's too much work to not swap to a better axle too
Make a noticeable difference in tire and axle wear? The sentiment seems to be that these front ends are basically made of glass, so I want to take every precaution to keep it alive
I had a friend doing frame repair and upgrades. He installed it during that time so I'm not sure. But if you didn't have trouble I'm gonna guess a hour or two.
Only thing is it leaves you with shitty ride quality and on top of that you blow through cv axles like nothing because your leaving them at a terrible angle I did the same thing to my truck and I wish that I just bought the proper lift kit as I have so many problems now
Yes but there is a diff drop down bracket you can get to correct the angle some. We don't have that and haven't had any issues, we have been very hard on this truck if you check out some of the other videos. We do have an CV starting to pop but its a old one that's been in there long before we had the truck, the axle we put in before the lift hasnt shown any signs of damage.
20 seconds in and I already love your channel. Bee seeing all your videos ✌️

Budget building buddy! The epitome of American hotrodding!

ha awesome- like how you drive that truck- just bought a 96zr2- the drive great !🤠✊
Thats awesome! Wish this one was a zr2 but it does the job

Very cool! That’s what we should do to our Bravada
🤙🏼 that intro
This thing is a blast!
@@s10life I bet , I love my 1st Gen it’s a blast too 🤙🏼
@@fuzion3506 same! Have you checked out our 1st gen? white on vette wheels 4.8 rear mount turbo 5 speed. It's a wild ride
Just a quick and simple explanation of how shit works. So many people would have made this an hour-long, boring video. Thank you.
So true! You’re welcome
I regret doing this to my SUV. My u joints always broke prematurely and the transmission went out due to added stress
I hate that happened to you but I've had great luck with it. I drive it offroad and on road with no premature failures. I'm not easy on the truck either.

Wonder how much different that is from the blazers
Should be the same for the Blazer
Is this all you've done lift wise to the truck? I already have shackles on my s10, but I need to get the torsion keys. Does the air shocks lift it even more or does it just even out the back?
I've got shackles and keys on here. The air shocks raise the rear up and stiffens the rear. They aren't necessary though.
If you use the keys say bye bye to your ball joints and cv axles. Just telling you from first hand experience....3 times.....on the same truck
So far I have had one axle go out but I am unsure of it’s age to begin with, so far ball joints have held up after 2.5 years. Recently got the drop bracket and control arms installed. We’ll see how it goes

They will probably fit if you trim the bumper and fender
wouldn't it work better to move the rear end above the springs?
The rear end is above the springs
It's traditionally under the spring pack. Swapping the axle from ontop to under the spine pack used to be a common practice but on the s10 it's too much work to not swap to a better axle too
By any chance do u have a video of when u installed the lift kit?
No but I can help answer any questions you may have. We have footage of up changing torsion keys in one of our Bravada videos
Did this destroy any suspension parts?
Whats that vulnerable. Red wire or cable just hanging there?😮
😆 it WAS a temporary jumper wire for the winch on my dolly
Your shackles are definitely on backwards Jarrett. Lol
Haha I thought something looked off
Does the base model 2001 s10 2wd have torsion bars
No they have coil springs on 2wd
Did you ever end up installing the diff drop?
I did!
I also added RC tubular upper control arms
Make a noticeable difference in tire and axle wear? The sentiment seems to be that these front ends are basically made of glass, so I want to take every precaution to keep it alive
What size are those rims and the wheel???
The wheels are 15x7 and the tires are 31x10.5
Why won’t this work on the crew cab ?
This will work on the crew cab. If I said otherwise I was wrong.
Will those shackles fit the zr2 ?
Yes. In fact, they will fit into any SSeries
@@s10lifethanks
I know this video is old but will these types of kits work on a zr2
These are for non ZR2 models
How do I find some wheels cause I found some 5x5 jeep lug nut pattern wheels but the s10 is 5x4.75. So they won’t fit right?
Correct. You need adapters to run anything different that 5x4.75
1 tip to buying wheels for 4x4 S10- use 2wd S10 wheels for a wider stance
Why not a 2" block?
On SSERIES trucks the leaf springs are under the axle, when you put blocks in it lowers these trucks
How long did it take to put on?
I had a friend doing frame repair and upgrades. He installed it during that time so I'm not sure. But if you didn't have trouble I'm gonna guess a hour or two.
Would this kit work on a 04 Sonoma?
Yes it would!
Did you ever get it for your 04 sonoma? That's crew cab?
Where is the link for this lift kit
Just added it to the description!
My apologies
When I looked on EBay, they’re all sold out! I was hoping to buy it for my s10, but does anyone know if this will fit a 1996 4 door s10?
Yes it will fit
@@s10life okay thanks man!🙏

Does this put a lot of stress on the cv axles up front

Does cranking up the torsion bar effect alignment
