FPC euro is the best! Other than that one time I asked them to hold A 850 heater core hose connector for in store pickup and they accidently shipped it like 5 min before I arrived. Lucky me, it came the next day! 😂

Today you need a 500hp Golf GTI to have a "certain feeling" (danger on the curves?), when back in the 90's you could have fun with a Opel Corsa GSI with modest 100hp, or a Peugeot 205 or something like them. It's certainly not about power. It's about the feeling.
And if was before everyone put 20 inch wheels on everything so you can actually drive these cars on public roads and have a bit of fun with them. Not to mention better ride, quieter, cheaper, more manageable on the limit etc.

Loved this car when I was a kid! Back in the late 90’s, I remember going to Lee Volvo on the South Shore of Boston with my Dad to pick up his new black 1997 Volvo 850 R Wagon. It was an automatic. He loved it, as did I! The only issue he had with it that was somewhat serious was the windshield wipers at 100k miles came loose and had to be fixed twice. The entire driver side assembly came loose and flew off the car on the way to MV. In 2004, it became my car for college, and it had 109k miles on the clock. I got a Yakima roof rack and tinted the windows. I miss that car so much! Good to see one of these again!

This 850 r reminds me of my dad’s Volvo. My dad had a ‘97 Volvo 940. I remember driving around with him in that thing for ages. I learned how to drive in that car. I miss it so much!

@@iParty501 Yeah those 2.5tdi are pretty great to drive and also very reliable if taken care of. I had to sell mine 'cause previous owners didn't take care of it well and it was causing a lot of problems sadly.

@@iParty501 Well that's a bit cheaper than mine was. I got it for 1,7k and invested probably close to 1k in repairs in about 12 months I owned it and it still kept giving me check engine lights and kept shutting off while driving lol. Hopefully you'll have better luck with yours!

We had 850 glt 5cyl 170bhp. The turning lights sound the exact same 😭😍 I am driving a v50 2.4L gasoline. My dad is running a v70 2.4 tdi. The 5cyl runs in our blood I guess. This brings back memories. Thank you! ❤️

I used to be able to do this in my remote area of a very densely populated city. nowadays with more people moving in i can not anymore. but this gives me nostalgia. excellent work.
funny thing about the these there was a long period of time when their top speed was much greater than the speedometer could count up to in some cases you could bury the needle and still be accelerating up to 30 miles more. this was the case on the older ones since they used the same speedometer on the R as the regular model.
Nice car! But those raggedy roads can take a toll on that suspension, especially with those low profile tires.. I would not want to daily drive that thing on those roads...
As someone who lives in Metro Detroit (where this video is filmed) it is truly a curse to a gearhead. Makes daily driving the sporty cars we love far less enjoyable.
