  • This video shows the installation of the control board I used to create the lighted scanner effect at the front of the model and a look at the completed paint job and interior detail.

Looks awesome and I agree, not a perfect model of KITT by MPC but definitely a fun build and just cool to have. My son is enjoying it as his first build and looking to customize a little with the extra parts the model has with it. I appreciate you 'going first' on your video so I can guide him a bit from what I am learning from you...although no lighting for my son and I yet. We are still learning that piece.

The original issue has the correct body.
    Good job on the scanner.

Great job Boyd! Once again you have taken a regular model kit and turned it into a masterpiece.

It looked big until you reached in to remove the hood. I say it looks awesome. I love the lighting inside.

IIRC,the taillights were blacked out on Kitt, some Tamiya x-19 smoke should darken the lens just fine.

Actually Boyd I remember as a kid living on a military base the real 1:1 scale KITT would make at least 1 appearance at the Langley AFB Airshow back in the mid 80's complete with working light scanner going back and forth.

Question: Is there any after market parts to give the kit the front fog lights? That's one thing this kit is really missing.

Hi Boyd the model looks great . am i right in assuming this is the mpc kit ? i built one many years ago and had alot of trouble with the dash fitting in place . just wondering if you had this problem ? . Also have you built the Aoshima version of this kit ?

Aren't there suppose to be 8 lights on the scanner? 5 just seems too few.

For that scale it's still impressive.

Looking good so far Boyd. The scanner looks great. How about doing a K.A.R.R to put beside it. It should be easy to change to the yellow l.e.d's

Andrew Drabble That would be cool, they could argue and insult each other all day. :)

Question: how did you get the overhead control panel to fit between the left and right sunroof glass and the windshield? Because I have the same kit and it's too large and the sides of the panel shows slightly on both sides and the portion that is towards the windshield is too large and is exposed greatly and you can see the hallow part of the bottom of the overhead panel, it doesn't give enough room for the windshield to fit properly.

Can a 'remote control option' be added to these scale models by any chance?!

Nice work. I built a model of KITT in LEGO. I have a video.

very nice. although the cars used in the show did not have turbo, they were just Naturally aspirated with a sound dub(301 Pontiac V8 I think) the fiction is what I am interested in here and will definitely do the turbo as it is an option. noticed you do not use exhaust manifolds but maybe I am seeing it wrong. directions do not indicate putting those in with the turbo variant. the Tena Controls scanner requires lots of soldering I am guessing. am wondering if it is identical to this one.
