I fixed the problems with the italian voltage 220v 50hz and the broke idler wheel just with fews cent. Now spin 45 rpm, before was 38-39. It's time to connect the star wheel :) Thank You very much for this precious video! Grazie amico mio! Have a nice day

1949 was a big year for RCA Victor with its' introduction of the 45 RPM changers, and many radios designed especially for these 45 changers. Even other radio corporations included an RCA Jack for the specific use of the changers. They are popular today, just as they were popular with the public in 1949 when the company initially introduced them.

Hello Jake, If your changer has the original cartridge it will have to be replaced as the old cartridges stop working after 10 years or so due to absorption of moisture. I got a replacement from thevoiceofmusic website. Also, check the auto-short contacts to be sure they open with the tone arm moves towards the record. Good luck. - David

your thumping sound is from where the motor rested on the idler and over time dented it it would be best ti replace it

hi i just got one of these at a flea market. its cosmetically great but the insides were all taken apart and kind of screwed up. im no repairman but im handy so i've been getting everything working on it today but the rubber 'idle wheel' as you called it is quite warped like yours was. can you direct my to where i might be able to find one of those online? i'll also be in need of a cartridge or needle but i was going to worry about that last.

    hello, David Brown.
I have one of these exactly as shown in your video. It works and sounds wonderful except for one little problem. The arm stops and recycles about 10 seconds before the end of the song. In other words the tone arm does not move all the way across the record, only about 98%. It never reaches the run out grooves.
I know the adjustment on the rp-190 , but not on this rp 168. Can you help me? What i need is a screen shot from your 6 part repair videos with a red arrow pointing to the adjustment I need to turn.
Everything else about the player is perfect, played 100's of records (but never heard the last 10 seconds or so on any of them, except on some very short songs) :(...

You must bend the Trip Pawl backwards a little. oldtech.net/RCA/RP168/page5.gif
