Hey, nice Mooney. Funny, I recognized Eddie as well as your airport... small world! I have a J model based at Owens in Columbia- KCUB since 2005. I fly into Summerville every now & then to visit my pilot friend Hans, who owns a Comanche.
NICE brother. I live like in the flight path of Berkeley County Airport. Been a LOT of flights the past few weeks. Thanks for sharing man. I love all to do with Aviation! God Bless..
I know the feeling in forgetting to film the wrapping up. It always seems to happen so quickly. Looking forward to seeing you get your aircraft back safely.
Such a cool video, Tom. Your videos are such an inspiration to me. I am STILL doing my PPL at the moment as I got to two hours before going solo and then got hit with a big medical bill which has kind of sapped funds for flying training for now, ha! Still, all is good and hopefully I will be able to continue soon. I am very envious of the small airport infrastructure in the US which is far superior to that of the UK. Most of our runways are bumpy old grass strips! I do hope that the Mooney repair doesn't end up costing a fortune. Keep up the great work!
Love your channel, I'm learning so much. That was so smart of you to work with the mechanic. I hope your catastrophic issue isn't a biggie and you make it back safely.
Yeah, a bit of sticker shock on our first one in the 150. Nothing major, but had to replace some parts and they are pricey for sure. We also had to pull the interior to do some inspection there.
This was a good opportunity for you to learn a lot about airplanes in general and yours in particular. You are lucky to have a mechanic that allowed you to participate like that.
I think most A&P & IA's have more than enough to do so they don't mind that an owner does some of the busy work of just turning screws removing inspection plates & covers etc.
I know you have the same prop AD as I on my Arrow. What are your thoughts, keep doing 100 hour prop inspections, new hub for $3,000-$5,000? Or are you goin to go big with a 3 blander for $15,000? What was you compressions?
You and I are thinking the same. Nice compression. Mine goes if for annual on January 18-20. My last annual and first real one my plane had in 17 years was $39,600, no engine just a ADSB xponder and LED lights all around. And catching up on AD’s that showed completed.
Fun video. I guess you jinxed the aircraft by saying a super easy annual hence the grounding. Hope lesson learnt. In all seriousness hope the repair goes smoothly.

Glad 11W is in good hands, Tom, and happy to hear that you didn't have any surprises!
Eddie is a great guy. He has always been super helpful to me when visiting KDYB.
Good video good aircraft

Any mechanic who is good will allow an owner assistance as it teaches alot of how it works and how to better maintain the plane
Starter huh? Bummer!

Tom has an engineering degree, it's his life at stake, and he's the one paying. A mechanic shouldn't have an issue, I wouldn't think. But I dunno.

Man, what brand 12 string hanging on the wall .?
Sorry to hear the plane is now grounded but was glad to hear that the Mooney stuck in the power lines wasn't you lol
What was the green oil filter change canal / no drip thing called? Changing the oil on my Cherokee 235 is a beating. Oil everywhere!

where is videos with paragliders which I subscribed for?)
General Aviation pilots follow the Rules
Fully Aerobatic Quadcopter Fighter Pilots break them.
What kind of savings to you get when you do most of the work? I imagine 40-50% less than not helping.
I am a contractor and I charge more if the owner helps 😂
