    I think he's a fantastically overlooked actor. He's like the British Sam Rockwell! He has a remarkable subtly about his performances.

      hes not overlooked mate hes well respected he receives rave reviews when he deserves it

    • @RyanHollinger
      @RyanHollinger 10 лет назад +11

      But consider it on the same level as Hollywood actors. We put so much praise on an elite group of actors that fantastic independent stars like Considine or Rockwell genuinely don't get the recognition they deserve. Overlooked doesn't necessarily mean not respected or getting positive feedback. They deserve to be higher on the public radar for what they've provided to the craft.

      So true. They both manage to 'be themselves' (or appear to be)- the dream of all actors, ironically

    How can anyone of any age and watch Deadman's Shoes and _not_ think he is absolutely brilliant is beyond me.
    For prep to see the new Borne film, I watched the original trilogy (yes we ignore the Jeremy Renner mess) and I completely forgot Paddy had a feature. It was a great surprise, which as a big fan of Paddy, filled me joy.
    Hello to Jason.

    Dead Man's Shoes isn't the greatest film of all time, but it's certainly my favourite. .."They all held your hand didn't they"

    • @antonydyatlov5651
      @antonydyatlov5651 3 года назад +10

      Absolutely - if you look on the RUclips comments for it, they're all talking about "righteous anger", totally missing the point that Paddy Considine's character is mainly driven by guilt.

    He blew me away in Red Riding: 1980. I must also say that by the time I got to the end of this review, I must have heard you say Paddy Considine 100 times! Ha ha! Great review. Thanks.

      +Ilan Pearlman Spot on. PC is the best thing about the movie. His deadpan humour is absolutely on the money; he's really, really funny, when you don't associate him with comic acting. Yet he can do it. His timing is perfect.

  • @paulie1vivaaxl

    People acting like Kermode has blanked Dead Man’s Shoes are totally missing the point of the video.
    That is such an obvious choice whilst this is based on roles/films that have been somewhat overlooked.
    I didn’t think Romeo Brass would be here as it could be interpreted as an easy choice but it is such a chilling and absorbing performance and all the more astonishing as it was his first time even on a film set.
    It will never be named in any mainstream “best debut performances” but for me,it had to be one of the greatest movie debuts of all time,mainstream or independent.
    Much as I love Tom Hardy as an actor,I’m sad he’s now part of (on of) the superhero franchises and while I realise that’s where the money is,it’s a shame that his Al Capone movie can’t get distribution or even a release of any sort and now it’s all about Venom.
    I realise those type of movies are where you make the money that enables you to do more interesting movies but I hope Paddy doesn’t go down that route even though the odd cameo is fine to feed the family and secure their future but I hope he sticks mainly to the more thought provoking films for the most part.
    Have to say though,didn’t love Journeyman and Paddy feels that it was ignored and rejected.He’s right but his original plan was to do a movie about a book that he bought the rights to (Day of the Locust I think) which was an excellent book and would have potentially been a far better film than Journeyman.
    But he is a true national treasure and deserves more respect than he gets.

    If we are going alternative, I think the performance in the Arctic monkeys 'leave before the lights come on' is a great one. so rare you see a good narrative in a music video and even if you don't like the music, mute it and it plays like a good silent short.

    I would put Submarine in there - I didn't love the film, but I did love every scene he was in!
    Also, The Bourne Ultimatum! Classic stuff. But yeah, A Room For Romeo Brass would be in my regular top 5 Mark, what are you talking about?

    Le Donk and scor say zee ,totally agree watching it you know it's not great and the films self imposed limitations mean it cant be as good as it could be ,but its so one off and his performance so brilliant that you have to admire it .Dont like it but I love it ..weird.

    Loved Considine as Rob Gretton, really matched what I'd read about Gretton's character. Funnily enough, I thought Toby Keeble was a poor Rob Gretton when he played him in Control, too comedic and soft, I thought.

      Not ignorant in the slightest ,I'm a fan of Simon Pegg Nick frost et al .Spaced is a landmark in TV and one of my faveourite shows ever .Shaun of the Dead was like an extended episode and pretty good .
      Hot Fuzz and Worlds end were both poor to say the least in my non ignorant opinion and everyone I ve spoken to agrees
      Unlike you I respect your opinion tho of course I think its wrong :~)

      I take it the movie was an improvement on the trailer .For me it was nt
