Don't forget running red lights, cutting across 4 lanes of traffic within 50 feet to pickup and drop off passengers and adding to the congestion while spewing black smoke out the back. LOL!
Nice review 😊. Being a jeepney driver is very difficult. You're a master of multi tasking. Driving, computing the fare, while keeping your eyes on the street.
Agree. Sometimes napapaisip ako kc i'm driving a car and sometimes rode in a jeep, grabe multitasking talaga sila. You know being a jeepney has lot of stress like traffic, pollution etc etc.
@@malousoldevilla7807 yeah when i was a kid i took this ride for granted. never really appreciated the jeepney drivers up until i was in my 20s and finally left for california. the amount of multitasking and "pawis" steering 😂is something to be commended for.
I was a jeepney driver for some years before I came here to the States, James. Did the Monumento-Baclaran route via Avenida back when they were still putting up the MRT, and traffic was insane, and before that the Monumento Baclaran (night time) via EDSA, then the UP-Farmers' route, too. Pawis steering was the normal mode, then, I don't know about now.. That steering wheel design you encountered was not the mode then, maybe whoever designed that at Milwaukee motors was thinking of how jeepney drivers would normally seat with one part of the butt up from the seat. Tabingi ang upo, like you said about the wheel....askew or sideways...that is because when you're driving under that heat, in that traffic, on an often hard seat cushioned only by a pillow you brought which had become thinned by constant use, and you seat with the butt flat on the seat, before you make your first "round trip", your butt will be hurting like hell. So what we do is seat sideways or almost sideways. Now I've been here in the States 20-some years, so I hope MOST jeepneys are as comfy and sharp as the one you drove, and who knows, just for the heck of it, I might go back behind the wheel..
Jeepneys are on the process of phasing out. They will be replac by E-jeepneys and euro 4 + diesel jeepneys. In my city, jeepneys and multicabs are already retired. Replaced by Tojo electric jeepney or bus. Gonna miss our old jeepneys.
Not to mention the long hours of driving. I remember waking up my cab driver when he fell asleep while waiting for the traffic light. And also how dangerous their driving skills are. I had to close my eyes most of the time because they drive so close to each other. By the way, I don't think that they have car insurance either.
Then calcualing.... Is Bit harder too but you also.., Have to stop on stop line before you look be look carefully don't hit any poor Animals or also Ride Passengers only, 25persons maxx
I really wanna have a jeepney like this to drive around in Canada. Would be very useful in group trips, or even during camping. You can have 3 beds right off the bat. Maybe just some customization to bring the heaters, sliding windows and doors - due to winters. Though, I really like this one since it has a bar! My cousin's family used to have a long jeep, and we would drive it from Cavite to Baguio!
i was smiling the whole time.thank you james this made my day.subscribed shout out na din sa mga jeepney at bus drivers na ginagawang terminal ang mc arthur hiway malapit sa monumento mahiya naman kayo please!
Good job mr. deakin being a driver of a jeep all body and mind is working it’s a multitasking job. at least you drive with the power steering I drove the pawis steering and a hydro back break not a air break. it’s more harder way back then I’ve been driving for a long time in manila it’s more harder because it’s only a inch between all cars and people around you. I like your video 👍🏻🇵🇭🇺🇸😊

Wooo what a well dressed up Jeepney you got there I’m guessing it’s a manual transmission also I noticed them rubber tires are repacked hope I’m wrong lol..
Now you know how hard to be a jeepney driver. :) I hope most of jeepney driver learn to be patient and have also discipline the way they drive because most of them are reckless and texting while driving.
Thats a modernised jeepney....ganun sana ginawa nila sa mga jeepney dahil icon symbol yan ng pinas...diyan tayo nakilala...tapos rereplace lang nila ng mini bus or oversizred van dahil luma na daw yung jeep...?
The jeepney was born out of necessity only after ww2, it wasn't intended for long term solution but because of lacking in innovation by original junks receiver (Sarao Motors), this vehicle has never improved the important road safety features and had never developed the mechanical design since after ww2. What they have upgraded are the decorations for aesthetic looks only. Even the diesel engines are still second hand surplus imported from Japan. While in Europe, they are now replacing the old buses powered by diesel and petrol engines, and continuing the development of buses driven by electric motor, hydrogen and derived from poo gas engines. The jeepney was derived only from former "AMERICAN JUNKS", so shouldn't be consider an iconic vehicle. Just like the necessity needs after ww2, it is necessity now to adopt the modern HIGH CAPACITY electric and low emission engine driven buses for public transportation solution.
Hahaha...nice...I drove a jeepney for about 5 years and missed doing so...but alas it is nearing its end....I hopr our local jeep manufacturers would come up with SUV like designs that arr affordable and cheap to maintain that are also ECO friendly....

Jeepney drivers are masters in multi tasking.. Driving and calculating 200 minus 36.. counting change.. holy crap theyre virtuosos
You're pretty much your own boss. Having an assistant to collect the fare money is usually an optional choice
Don't forget running red lights, cutting across 4 lanes of traffic within 50 feet to pickup and drop off passengers and adding to the congestion while spewing black smoke out the back. LOL!
