Hi, Roger! That Blackjack bloom is stunning! 😊 Those Disas will put on quite a show when they bloom! The dehumidifier is much less noisy than Huracan Hector.😁 I am re-watching your videos on Dendrobiums: after a couple of years, I finally managed to get a Dendrobium Victoriae Reginae!! It is rather small, with two canes, one of which is still growing. I hope to keep it happy and get to enjoy those beautiful blooms!
Hurricane Hector will probably never get used again here as I'm rarely trying to keep the heat down. The small home humidifier is all I need now. Most of the time, the de-humidifier is used especially overnight when it's cooler.
Maybe look at restaurant supply stores for dish pans. Like bus boys use. Very strong and plenty deep for the disas. In the meantime you could put a board under the seed tray for ease of mobility.
I love your videos man, so cool! I’ve been obsessed with epiphytes of all sorts but bromeliads and orchids are my favorite! As well as some very interesting ferns like the pendulum looking ones like Ophioglossum pendulum! There are a couple different ones, some with skinny leaves and some with wide leaves but fairly long! I once made my own bromeliad branch supported tree-like structure in my north facing room and had all sorts of orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and tillandsias hanging and resting on it! The branches and main stem were made out of PVC Pipes and I ordered sheet moss from a company out of Washington State called Mosses Unlimited! And using some plasticy chicken-wire-like mesh (flimsy plastic) and sandwiched the sheets of real moss into square sheets and wrapped it around the PVC and Zip-Tied it to the underneath portion of the “branches” and then once the entire tree with three branches were covered I put the plants onto the branches and using fishing line, I tied all of the plants, some with soil and some without, to the branches and it looked amazing, this was several years ago and after like 5 months of diligent watering to keep the moss alive, It was sort of getting difficult to keep up with the watering because of the warmer weather the moss would keep drying out so quickly that I couldn’t keep up with so it ended up drying up (the moss) and I gave the “tree” to my Aunt in New York and she put it into her bog area of her property! The point trying to get to, on a tangent, was that I put the “tree” in a cement block to keep it standing upright and I put the bottom water-collecting tray from a washing machine under the tree and cement block! It works really well! Sorry if this is a waste of your time to read, hopefully it might inspire you to do a similar type project for some of your orchids and as a suggestion, because I really wished I had done this but it was an after-thought and I was kicking myself that I didn’t think to do it, I wished I invested a little more money ahead of time in order to put in a MISTING SYSTEM, underneath the mats of moss with the little nozzles sticking out for the plants and moss! And then put it on a timer, but I guess that’ll have to be done next time I’m felling wealthy! Love ya man, oh and I love the bonsai channel as well!
lol as I have a pain in the a s s Den. Lindleyi would like a recount on that one. I am EC of Au and it dumbed all it's roots some some months ago and has now decided to chuck up 4 flower spikes.
Hey just a quick suggestion maybe for a tray you could use the bottom tray for a washing machine, they sell them at hardware stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot! I’m assuming that you have these big box stores by you I’m from the Vermont in the U.S.
@@YnseSchaap they are now at least 12 cm long and leafy so guessing they are growths. Looking forward to Roger’s spiking so I can tell the difference 😆
Have you considered experimenting with leaving your cymbidiums out year round? You have a likely virused one, use that to experiment... if it dies, then the loss is less painful.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai I was watching you move that over the bottom of the door frame grimacing at potential back issues. I'm sure you could rig up some wooden boards (same width/slightly wider than the castors) with hinges connecting each piece that you could lay over the base of the frame for a makeshift ramp. Seems like it'd make moving the trolley much easier? You could also make a pair of parallel 'tongues' on the board that would go over the bottom of the door frame that'd stop the ramp itself moving forwards/backwards. Relatively easy to deploy & remove & seems like it'd make life easier?
Just when you think you have things organized, reality sneaks. Hope you enjoy the archery.
Thanks.

I’m looking forward to seeing all those disas in bloom!
Me too - let's hope.
Thanks Roger!
You're welcome.

I've already ordered some larger stronger deeper trays.

Sorry for writing a book!🍁
No worries.
Great channel, Roger. Must watch everyday.
May I suggest “we” give the Disa-man a proper name, in lieu of just GUY.
Others I mention by name have given their permission, the 'Disa guy' hasn't.
So be it.
He shall be, henceforth, be Disa Guy. Ty
If he's at the Bmth show in a couple of weeks, I will talk to him.

The one with the probable virus IS staying outside.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai Aha, interesting test then!
Beautiful table but seems big, out of scale in your conservatory. Maybe just putting the cymbidiums on the floor would take up less room.
@marylalone7104 individual plants on the floor will be far more 'in the way' and more difficult to move - also, it would mean bending all the time.
