This is my favorite movie. I've literally watched it over 100 times. There are may be a few references that you won't get, but the vibe of the film, the subtle jokes, farhan's one liners, and the equation between the three friends is just awesome. 101st re-watch here I come..

This was one of the commercial modern films which was released when we didn't have any modern realistic films only Salman Khan films were popular and you know how his films were. It may not be so great movie for the west but for the Indian audience it was like a dream film which most people would love to do in their lives if they got rich only 2% of India has traveled in an airplane so you can imagine how dream like movie this was for Indians. You may not find it a "modern film" but 70% of people live in rural indian so you can understand why we find it modern film that gives us a dream to travel. The cinematography was amazing in this film also something really new in Hindi film industry.

I don’t know about deep sea diving but I’ve been scuba diving (I think there’s a depth limit for that) and I actually asked them this question because of this film and it turns out that you don’t need to know swimming, at least for scuba. So it’s quite possible.
I would also suggest you to check out movie - Wake Up Sid (2009) directed by Ayan Mukherjee, starring Ranbir Kapoor. It is a slice of life kind of a film. And it's a really nice movie and my favourite too. 🙂

Actually you can go deep sea diving even if you can't swim with proper training. To quote the internet (Trip Advisor UK) "you do not need to be able to swim to dive - you only need to be able to kick your legs to fin and your buoyancy jacket will hold you in the water. HOWEVER - make sure you go diving with a good dive centre and that they fully understand that you cannot swim."
You can still scuba dive if u don’t know how to swim as long as you are with a scuba instructor. Also depends on what the requirements are for each country.
Here are PADI's swimming prerequisites for Open Water Scuba certification (that's the first level of training and cert you get to go diving). Other agencies (SSI, SDI, NAUI etc.) have similar requirements: Before completing the PADI Open Water Diver course, your instructor will have you demonstrate basic water skills to be sure you’re comfortable in the water, including: 1.
