- I was asked to show the differences between the GRS-16 and the GRS-16PE. I published a video of the GRS-16 with a full demo. So here's one showing the PE version. Both use the same material and hardware and are made to the same quality. I hope this video is informative.
Website TSOproducts.com
GRS-16 $149.95
GRS-16PE $169.95
Both in a set $299.95
Thanks for watching MIke
Thank you for explaining the difference between these two guide rail squares. Very informative review! Thank you!!!
Thanks Mike! Great video. Now I know the difference and will be buying the PE. I really appreciate the detail you provided. Be well and thanks again!
Mike, when I have a wood working questionI am finding myself going to your page first. Unfortunately TSO has gone up in price but Ill get the combo set soon. Thanks for letting us know the difference in the two products.
Ronnie Kotler why thank you very much for that comment I appreciate it very much. The squares are great, I keep thr regular on on a 55 rail all the time. Mike
Ronnie Kotler thank you very much I truly appreciate the support. I did see there price increases, but they make a great product
I always enjoy your videos. I miss my cigars.
Thanks for your video, PE it is.
Thanks so much! That’s the info I needed!!!
Hi Mike, this is the first video of yours that I've seen. Very informative. you said that the GRS-16 and the GRS-16PE come in a set but, if you get the PE version, is there any reason to get the GRS-16?
Just recently bought the GRS-16, but it’s about $159.00 now I believe. Wish I had known about it when it was cheaper.
Thanks. Sold. Chose the PE for the flexibility in choosing my reference side.
Like 👍 your I idea of having two for two rails.
Dear Mike, I do believe that Hilti uses exactly the same profile as Protool/Festool & Makita. I often mix a Makita along with my Festool; you couldn't tell the difference if you were blindfolded. Your new device seems very interesting indeed & great deal better than Festool special kit that comes in a Systainer 1 ( I used possibly once or twice & never used it since). By the same token Incra's mitre gauge protractor is infinitely superior to Festool's pitiful one delivered on the MFT ( which unlike you don't think much of). Very informative video; keep it up. Kind regards.
ToolsConsumables I tried to use Festool angle kit once, after the first time I emptied the sustainer and used it for something else lol. These two pieces are very good products. I use the GRS-16 all the time.
Thank you for your feedback. Take care & se you next time. Kind regards.
What kind of clamp you using there bud? It looks pretty handy!
Given the greater versatility of the GRS-16 PE, which can be used from either end of a track, why would one bother owning both devices? Is there something the GRS-16 can do that the GRS-16 PE cannot? What am I missing?
dragonkubush that’s exactly rite, but some people like to keep the plane 16 locked onto a 55 rail and use the PE for other rails. In my case I bought the 16 just before the PE came out lol. Thanks for the comment
That's what I was thinking. I would purchase the two sided version. I could never really figure out the difference until this video. Even if I was going to buy two units I would purchase double sided one.
But if you were to buy only ONE, which one would you buy?
Hi Mike, I was just trying to work out the difference between the two when I came across your video. Thanks for the explanation. Do they fit in the systainer with the TS55??
Ian Harris yes they do fit, I leave my 16 attached to one of my extra FS1400 rails. Thanks for the comment Mike
That settles it, the PE is for me.
Jeff Stanley glad I could be some help. You won’t regret it! It’s a great tool to have.
Mike, I’m watching the work board slide around. You have MFT , throw a couple of dogs in to keep the board square and secure. You know better.
Is there any reason to get the non PE version?
Mike, Do you think one is more useful than the other? Been interested but don't know which one to get and don't feel I would use both in the set. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.
xfran4 I leave the GRS- 16 on a rail all the time, the PE I use a lot when I cut 4'x8' wood into smaller pieces outside my shop. So I guess both are very useful. I did not but both as a set I bough the GRS16 first then a few weeks later bought the PE. Thanks for the support. Mike
Watching your video something clicked and I realized the tracksaw needs to be used left handed when cutting long sheets. I have one on order and didn't realize that. I guess it will take some getting used to coming from a standard circular saw.
I guess you find the PE useful and use it on both sides of sheet goods? I was on the fence about which to order (or to order both!).
XaeroR35 yes the PE would be the most useful. I leave the regular one on a rail and use the PE when I go outside to cut down sheets of plywood. Mike
Hey Mike, can you expand on what advantage you find the PE to have for this purpose of cutting down 4x8 sheets? I'm trying to picture a likely situation where I would use it. Cheers!
As always Mike great video, just wish I had your budget for tools lol,i think I did just purchase the same saw as you,3HP 36" extension table...Did you have to do any aligning to it,mine seemed about spotted onion,I do however have some slop in the back and forth,if you did align it,setup that might make great video idea,or even what maintenance you do on your tolls, don't think I've really seen anyone do that..
Dan Johnson yes it was spot on out of the box. Besides aligning the wings it cut perfect. I will review the alignment procedures and probably make a video. Many thanks for the support did you e mail me you mailing address for a sticker. Thanks Mike
Mikes wood shop I did Mike, can't wait to get to one..
Do some plumbing videos
Lol I wish I could but there for Rinnai but thanks.
Hi Mike, have you use the GSR clamp on a long cut? Is it perfectly square on a 2.4m long rail cut at that length?
How about if all 4 sides of board are not square? Does this square it up like you said or you use another tool.
Hey Mike. Do u have an instagram account?
Martin Chavarria yes I do it's Michaellatronico. Thanks for the comment. Mike
I am more concerned about why you have a dummy stop tablesaw. If you are smart enough to keep your fingers away from the blade, you have absolutely no reason to pay for a saw like that. You could have a saw that is a much better quality, i.e. Powermatic for the same amount of money that trinket saw is costing u.
Bottom line is, if you don’t put your fingers anywhere near the blade it is physically impossible to cut them off. The only time people cut their fingers off is when they are stupid enough to put them near the blade. A tablesaw does not have feelings, thoughts or anything of the sort. So don’t be stupid enough to put your fingers near the blade and you never have to worry about them getting her off. That is just common sense..
