It looks like you guys have found it useful. And Matt , when did you start eating fish ? I thought you didn't like fish. And molly, did you eat the fish with ink or try it ? I loved your videos from Bosnia and so I am interested how you will spend your time in Croatia :) ... The Croatian Adriatic coast does have more of an Italian feel than the typical Balkan which you felt in Bosnia. And the inland of Croatia which actualy stands north from Bosnia is also different, more of a Hungarian mixed with Austrian influences, also in local cuisine there which might taste more simmilar to the tastes an English person is used to, like roasts and stwes, and river fish, plum rakija, oldest beer and 4 oldest/largest wineries in Croatia :)

    Great video but I have one tip for you. The Balkan region is named after a mountain in Bulgaria and includes the areas south of the Sava River that were under the control of the Ottoman Empire, which is more or less Bosnia and the territory east of it. Croatia and Vojvodina (a region in the north of Serbia) were an integral part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time that name was created, and that name does not apply to them. I would recommend you to avoid the name Balkan for Croatia because you will not make anyone in Croatia happy. Most Croats will politely say nothing and will not correct you when you use the name Balkan because we are used to tourists being ignorant of names, but that does not mean they are happy about it and depending on the context it can be an insult. Instead of that name, I would recommend you to use the word region or Southeast Europe, I would recommend the same advice for Greece or Slovenia.

    • @Mockbaboy
      @Mockbaboy 4 месяца назад +1

      While you absolutely right when it comes to history of regions on Balkan Peninsula, due to a primitive, savage-like mentality of people that come from Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo etc. most of ex Yugoslavia countries have became Balkan like in mentality because the natives that live in ex Habsburg countries were very mild in mentality and they were over run by Balkanic tribes

You have to be careful or they will rob you blind. Honestly the best deal you will get is ordering pizza or cevape. Even when you are in coffee shops you need to be careful because some of them have tourist prices and locals prices.

      @@briansimic2403 we have cevapi and rakija thanks to Turks, not because we're alike 💀
      And it's not my opinion, there are really 4 languages.
      Last names are similar due to us being Slavs and neighbors and also because there were many migrations and conversions to other religion.
      Yugoslavia as an idea was everything but good and the best way is to be seperate countries like we always used to be.
      Croats also share a lot with Slovenians, Hungarians, Austrians, Czechs and Slovaks, a lot more actually than we share with Serbs, Macedonians and Bulgarians, but I would not want Austria-Hungary to come back 💀
