Another Japanese tree festival (they gave us one for free!)

- Since buying our land we've planted somewhere around 130 trees on it, and we just added 3 more. Turns out yards can fit way more trees than you'd think??? Next up we really need to get a walkway in, and we haven't even started on our Japanese-style front garden. We're only a tiny part of the way through our plans of turning our yard into a forest garden paradise and we're seriously loving every moment of it!! 💚 Except for the mosquitoes. And the summer humidity. And okay maybe not every moment but most of it. I have totally gotten used to the spiders, though.

These are the same people we bought trees from before! The previous maple tree we got from them has EXPLODED into life and is doing fantastic, and now our new red maple brightens our whole garden every time we look outside. We love it so much!! Jun is already planning the next maple he wants to get, but we'll probably have to save up again for a while first. Ganbarimasu! 💪
wysteria at least the kind we have here in America is a weed it will take over your yard and kill everything in its path and it is nearly impossible to get rid of! please be careful with that thing! it likes to climb a tree and take over that tree and what its doing is killing it. its pretty yes it is but it will run underground and then show up in spring covering your entire yard and killing anything next to it. burning it doesn't get rid of it, cutting it up or down doesn't kill it, its a menace so if you're keeping that one outside you need to keep a close eye on it. that might be better as an inside plant so you can make sure it doesn't sneak up and take over your lovely garden! we fought that thing for years and finally got rid of it but not until it killed so many trees!
ganbattene 😊
I'm gonna be honest, I completely forgot to read the whole first sentence for more context because I got too caught up in the idea that maple trees could explode... not my proudest moment 😔
The red is fantastic! Enjoy such a fantastic garden! Hope that the critters are also enjoying your more naturalistic yard :) any more frogs/lizards?
Are the kitties allowed outside or are you keeping them as indoor cats? 🐈
Mr. Koga is a very smart business man. He definitely knows how to keep his customers buying only from him. It's amazing that they will deliver and help plant that beautiful tree. You need to name the tree MR.Noga in his honor.
A happy customer is a repeat customer.
Agreed! Sometimes at the farm I work at, repeat customers will get a freebie so they know how much we value their business and they keep coming back.
@@moonstruck8245 As long as you can maintain a friendly rapport with your customers, let them know that you value them and appreciate their business they'll keep coming back.
Rule of Acquisition #57: Good customers are as rare as latinum. Treasure them.
R&J & Star Trek, I'm a happy person.
At this rate the garden is going to become an entire forest of beautiful flowers and trees where Rachel and Jun will just be searching for spots to plant their newest additions 😂
That is 100% the way it will go.
I've got a tiny garden in my front yard that started with a few bulbs and now I've got like 7 new plants sitting on my porch needing to be put in... but there's no room anymore
They're going to have to replace the house with trees.
@@Kristenhas3catssounds fun tbh 😂 tiny forest
And I am here for it! You guys are doing such a wonderful job with your home and garden!
I don't know if someone mentioned this already, but in the victorian language of flowers, Wisteria means 'welcome', so if you find a wisteria planted at the front of the house, it is a silent way for you to welcome you. Of course, this is your garden and house, do whatever you wish with it, but I thought the wisteria was a very appropriate gift to give to you two. :D
Yes!! It’s one of my favorite flower meanings - I learned it as “welcome, fair stranger” and it has welcomed me to many lands. England and South Korea for starters! I love seeing it
And for demons it is the opposite Hehehehe (Demon Slayer reference) 🙂
You guys knew you already wanted the Japanese maple but when he gifted you the wisteria he sealed the deal. I loved his reaction to your comment that he “ensnared you”, such a lovely interaction of kindness and good-will between strangers.
These small slice of life/shopping videos are so fun and relaxing! Thank you ❤
As someone without a garden but with PLANT ENVY, I would adore a garden tour! Just showing off all your beautiful plant children and all the flowers and trees and life you have brought to the garden
"Plant envy" is such a mood.
That wisteria looks so pretty! My mom (rip) got one, and turns out it was white...in spring and summer it looks like it's snowing when it flowers, and it's really sweet smelling too.
Hope this wisteria grows a lot and give you years of beauty and joy! 😊
Rachel's really living that fairy, cottage core life us girlies have always dreamed of 😻😻😻
With a handsome Prince Charming, to boot! 🤴
Since Nagi is probably a Norwegian forest cat you guys are building the perfect enviroment for him.
The cats in the window look so pretty with the new maple...definite nature cats.
Rachel and Jun are honestly couple goals, their vibe together is heartwarming
Haha I was gonna comment the exact same thing
Couple goal and cat family goal
Definitely. They are best example of healthy relationship to me who don't know how it looks like. All I know, love should hurt you. I never knew love could looks this beautiful. 🥰
Goals. Couples. Good. Me like. You like.
Red must be jun's favorite color; red cats, red trees, red Rachel.
We also have both colors of Japanese maple tree, they're both so nice and the green version has greatly outgrown the red
I don't know why but I love hearing Jun calling Rachel "My wife" ❤
Wow. I call my wife, "my wife ", also. What a coincidence!😏
the transition to poki at 6:43 had me cackling LOL
Haku & Nagi sitting together admiring the new tree warms my heart ❤️ 🍁
u don’t understand how much i love your videos, even what u might think is mundane ❤
Thank you so much 😭
@@RachelandJunAdventures A lot of people feel this way. This is so comforting in my life
I got exceited just seeing there was video! Watching was greater still!
@@RachelandJunAdventures yeah it’s so cozy!
The wisteria is so beautiful.
I'm disabled and haven't been able to work in my garden for many years. Enjoy this time. You will be very happy in the future with the views out your windows. I wish we had planted a few more flowering trees. 😍
Mr. Koga must have recognized you! And since that other tree you bought from him is doing well, I’m sure he might think deeply about giving you another gift when you come back!
You take care of his plants!
Mr. Koga is a very smart businessman. But he also seems like a very nice man who loves his trees. I can tell he was very happy you bought this and are giving it a home. The color is beautiful. My neighbor growing g up had a huge Japanese maple tree in his yard. It was stunning. May yours growing strong, and I can't wait to see how that wisteria grows also. Bright Blessings you guys, you're awesome.
Oh, to be a cat staring at a momiji tree with my cat brothers and sister.
Rachel won't be happy until their yard is so filled with plants actual fairies live in it
loveeee the red momiji and the wisteria! just be careful when planting near your house as roots can cause an issue down the track, dont want the foundations of the house being compromised (not sure if the trees you are planting are the type to have big surface roots though)
Something to keep in mind is that what is healthy for a forest is an "open forest" which if you have all young trees must be maintained. The under growth, trimming branches that block too much sun. Where I am from First Nations people practice Cultural Burning which is how we maintained the Rainforests here. Cultural Burning eliminates ticks, rodents, tree disease and fungus and supports growth of berries and other medicinal and food plants, otherwise they would be choked out by too much tree density. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! I love getting Spring Time News from you guys
Haku and Nagi mirroring poses at the end is too cute!
Also Poki's stare when he's on the cat wheel lmao. "I'm doing the thing, gimme chicken later, don't forget now."
He says, 'I'm ONLY doing the thing to get the chicken!'
I'm so envious of your plant options. Many of the Japanese plants are invasive here in America but they're the prettiest stuff in the world imo.
Make sure you give that Wisteria plenty of support on a Trellis or pergola because they grow very fast and very heavy. It will be absolutely gorgeous and makes great shade
I congratulate you for your awareness, a lot of people don't realize you should plant only local plants wherever you are, it's better for the fauna and the environment
I loved seeing the old Japanese men chatting with you. Thankyou for having great CC on the video. The wisteria is so gorgeous and the maple is like getting to have autumn all year round!
I love how Poki gets on the treadwheel and immediately starts yelling at you two (even when you're outside and can't actually hear him). "LOOK! I'm EXERCISING! Give me TREATS!"
I love these Japanese garden grandpas that are still out there delivering trees. I hope I'm still able to do things like that when I'm older
It's a bit off topic but when I considered adopting cats I was really amazed at the great bond you have with your cats. The two boys moved in in December 2021. The shy and traumatized Mikesch is now regularly napping on my lap, even letting me trim claws. Thank you so much for being an example of how great people and cats can live together. The other one more like poki but not quite as bad with stealing food
I love the trees in my yard. I've lived here my whole life, except for a few years where I lived out of home. My Mum owns this house and I moved back here 20 years ago when I got sick with psychosis. I have lemon, walnut, apricot, plum, apple and pear trees! And a tiny lime tree that isn't doing very well at the moment (it's only young).
Our wisteria loves full sunlight, so definitely make sure it is planted somewhere bright. They are very slow growers until they get established with a big root. Ours flowers every year and you don't need to prune it, as it flowers on last year's growth each year.
My mother has a weeping red japanese maple here in the southern US and it is beautiful. It has more delicate leaves than that one, and sometimes it gets a little burned in really intense heat but just the edges of the leaves. It’s been planted about 15 years now and I can't help but stare at it every time I see it. I have to get one of my own one day but it is hard to find the weeping form here. Beautiful selections! I also love lady banks!
Wisteria are my favourite plants, and I nearly died of happy envy lol. I'm so glad such a beautiful plant will have such a beautiful home with you both. I love these videos so much.
That was a pretty good selling trick, 😂 but awfully sweet of him. The tree is absolutely gorgeous.
That wisteria is absolutely DREAMY~!
It's gorgeous, but be mindful with the wisteria! At my dad's house it has found its way up all the trees, and spreads its roots in thick cords along the garden. I am tackling it now, but it is crafty!
that momiji you bought from the man who gave you wisteria is stunning. Both will be so stunning in your forest. I am reading a book in which one of the two MCs is the Crimson Rain Sought Flower - and he wears momiji red outer garments. And the bumble bee is truly ecstatic with the nice wisteria you got for her.
we have a patio area that shaded by a whole wisteria tree, and its AWESOME, the flowers all fall down at the same time and the floor becomes purple too~
Those tree market oji-sans seem awesome
I always have a cosy feeling watching your videos. It's my way of decompressing... made easier with a cup of tea as well.
I can't wait to see more of your garden progress! Watching the interior take shape has been fun, of course, but I am fascinated by the challenges of the wildlife and land there (and your amazing neighbourly neighbours!).
If someone gave me a free wisteria I might legitimately break down crying and pledge my undying loyalty. 😂 Your yard is looking so wonderful!
Same! 😂
What a sweet old man! That's a sneaky business trick! 😍
I love, love, love red maple! What we have on our land now are sugar maple, mostly.
If a red will thrive here, I might just have to get one. They are so beautiful, and I love their energy.
The wisteria is beautiful and provides a clear, calming vibe. I hope you'll plant it where it can grow up a trellis around the entrance.
I never thought I would get so excited to see people buy trees😂
Please let us see your local botanical garden, if you can! I'm being inspired to visit my local botanical garden (in Santa Fe, NM) and seeing what I can grow around here! You're doing amazingly well with your land, and I'm so proud of how much you've achieved!
That red tree is GORGEOUS. 🤩
Ngl if I was gifted a wisteria I'd be "ensnared" too lol (the interaction with the arborists/tree fellows was wonderful and I hope to see them again next year! they seemed truly lovely and their plants are always so beautiful to look at!!)
Thanks!
Your new tree is superb 💓 Joy overload in your garden. 🕊💕 🌳 🍁
I LOVE wisteria. We have a really large one at the side of our front yard...stunning. But I’d give my left arm for that maple. Wow. That red is beautiful.
Love the supervising cats in the window!
YAY! NEW GARDEN VIDEOS! Glad to see you guys having a great time making your garden. Also more kitty videos as well please and thank you!
Love your trees, garden, house & cats Jun & Rachel!
Mr. Koga is so kind!! That wisteria is very beautiful. Also, the red maple reminds me of Rachel’s hair 🍁🍁
The man who sold you the tree just warms my heart ☺️
If I ever own a house, I would love to grow a wisteria tree. They are beautiful! That older gentleman was so sweet giving it to you for free!
I'm sure all the plants and trees will prosper in your yard! You both take such wonderful care of your yard!
I live in NC in the US and we have many Japanese Red Maple trees. It's very popular in NC and very beautiful
carpenter bee!!! i love those guys (even though they're living in my porch rent free LOL) they're so cute and only ever sting if you squeeze them (at least in my case)
you might want to be careful and keep an eye on any exposed wood you have outdoors though, they can do quite a bit of damage.
(I was actually anticipating a sakuraco moonlit sakura on this vid🤣) love Kouga-san's gift (he especially selected a gorgeous flower tree!!) and the red-leafed tree Rachel and Jun ended up choosing
The plants you got are beautiful! That man knows what he is doing and is so kind and knowledgeable. Can't wait to see how they grow!
I've always loved the Japanese maple.
I hope we can get a garden tour after you're done planting for spring!
I do love wisteria. We used to have a beautiful one at the house I grew up in.
That's one gorgeous tree.
Careful where you plant the wisteria. It will need a trellis and they grow really fast.
Thanks to Mr Koga's purple wisteria gift, the Rachel & Jun residence is now fully protected from demons, although I'm pretty sure those demons can be chased away all by hearing Poki's loud meowing for food.
Absolutely gorgeous, the red is amazing!
Definitely my comfort channel💜
OK, now I want all the trees!
Awww, they were so nice! And I loooove when you two go to plant markets and festivals! It's so fun to watch you pick your new friends and plant them.
Aww what a wonderful garden! Loved the kitty crew monitoring the situation lol
I remember watching you two when I was around 8 or 9 (6-7 years ago) and I just got this video on my recomended.
I'm so glad to see that you both are still so wonderful and kind to eachother and to the people you meet :,) Thank you for being a part of my childhood🥲
Haku & Nagi look SO ADORABLE looking out the window!! ❤ Rachel & Jun, maybe you can sell prints of this (especially when Haku looked back to you) to support your burgeoning garden.🪻🌳🍁 Have a great week!
I have that rose! It gets really big, it’s a vigorous grower. It is so pretty in the spring, just covered in buttery flowers ❤
wow, this is where the patreon 💲💵 goes, supporting you building a brand new house and your extravagant lifestyle. 😆
That red maple tree suits Rachel so much, I can picture her with kimono under that awesome tree.
the red tree is soooo beutiful! what a sight to have right in front of the window!!
That is a beautiful tree!
Jun and Rachel. Normal people doing normal things, just like me. I go shopping as well.😅
That cat wheel has to be Poki's wheel of fortune or something. Every time he's in it, he's expecting something in return.
Here is a fun fact for you! Carpenter bees absolutely adore wisteria, so you might be seeing more of them in the future!
my phone background right now is picture I took recently of red momiji with the exact same stage of little red seeds as yours, feel extra connected to this video haha, what a lovely momiji and wisteria-san❤❤❤❤
aww, so lovely! and the cats wanting to go out. maybe you need to build them a catio (a cat patio, where they can go outside in and enjoy some outdoorsy life without disappearing or getting directly into touch with the wildlife or the street cats in the area)
amazing Video the Plants look Beautiful .
Love the maple trees !!
I wonder what the cats are thinking every time new foliage is delivered. Are they like, "Here we go again." They seemed pretty interested in the new tree and in the process of panting it.
Just goes to say what Jun's favorite color is :) (I mean, look at Rachel and the cats...and then there's the tree)
🍁 花 咲いたでぇーーーすか?
種 可愛いーーーですよね🤣
I love Rachel and Jun videos because they teach me how to like new things. I was never a plant or tree type of person before nor did I care about our backyard either but seeing them get so excited and happy about these things, showing how fun it can be to personalize your backyard (or even start your own DIY home projects), it motivates me to try doing different things. I'm so happy we're getting more frequent uploads from you guys again. Like you guys are literally a breath of fresh air that I needed.
Omg love these two.
Such beautiful trees! it's looking amazing already!
Poki is funny 🤣
i love momiji so much, they are so expensive here in Quebec, Canada. i have been looking to get one since i moved.
YES! I love the gardening videos. Indulging in my vicarious living.
You guys need to make a catio for the fam! I think it would be the perfect addition to the garden 😊
your yard is gonna be so beautiful~!
Omg these are always so much fun to watch 😭💗💗
We need a full garden tour 😁
More trees, gonna be a forest next time you guys post
We hope so!! I want enough shade to lower the temperature of our land in the summer. Is that possible? I don't know, but that's my goal!
@@RachelandJunAdventures it's totally possible. We used to live in very hot place and big trees in our yard helped a lot. We also planted grapes and some flowers which grows claiming on walls around our glaass terrass doors to create shadow. Best wishes to you and your garden)
@@RachelandJunAdventures for sure! my uni actually funded a big study that confirmed that greater tree density is really effective at dispersing heat (we're in the middle of the desert so they are trying to get people to plant more native trees so it's cooler whee).
