Bro same, my teacher is literally never there, doesn't teach us shit, treats us like an ap course, because she teaches ap chem, and then proceeds to quiz us on that shit that she doesn't teach us
@@captaincaliber i know the feeling bro. "Special program offered at (insert school here)" legit means that ur courses are gonna be taught with extra stuff that ur not gonna be tested on
This is so easy to learn from that algebraic way. My teacher literally said these words. "You just have to do it it isn't hard" He would just like expect us to know this algebraic way or other ways to solve. He would barely teach but this guy got me through science and I'm grateful for that.
Hi! U might not see this but I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for your videos bc without them I would have failed math and science countless times over. Your explanations are perfect and always help me through confusing lessons :)
I’ve ALWAYS been good in science classes, but Chemistry? CHEMISTRY? My brain just does NOT understand it😭😭 even after watching this video I’m STILL lost
@@ayoolaadedayo8414 Oh, it could be different for everybody. In my case, this guy made me understand and love chemistry when I couldn't process a single thing ever since 9th grade. :)
My science teacher: *assigned this for video notes nearly a week ago* Me, watching it for the 15th time, with the assignment now very late: *crying and not understanding a word of it still*
7 years and this video immensely helps! I’m in my 2nd chem class and this stuff still gets me like this blew my mind! U explained it with ease and opened my mind to another way to name things?! Thank you!
Naming transition metals from formula to name using the equation method is bulletproof. This is the only channel I've seen that uses that method. Thanks.
Good trick to use for chemistry: My science teacher told me this trick for when you're trying to find the oxidization state was to just swap the amounts and you'll get the answer instead of having to do a bunch of math. Might not work all the time though. Ex: V3P5 Flip the phosphorous's 5 with Vanadium's 3 and you'll get V5P3 or V(5)P as your answer.
If you have problem understanding this, I suggest you go follow straight science on youTube and choose the videos from the beginning and then when you come to this you can come back and watch. She explains very well too. You will be more confident. You are welcome.
Hey! I know this is 4 months after but, when you have a monoatomic cation (metal), you just say the whole name. Sodium falls under that category, so it will just be sodium. If the question was name Na3, it will be just Sodium Ion.
why do you have to use Roman numerals for "PbO" if neither element is a transition metal? Why can't I just say "Lead Oxide" Why is the answer " Lead 2 Oxide"?
I have a question. When you wrote the name for Na_2 CO_3, why isn't it Disodium Carbonate? Since there are 2 sodium atoms, why is it just sodium carbonate?
in 5;22 Na2 Co3 Does Na2 don't need to do prefix , just become sodium ?? why is it not Disodium? and for Co3, isn't Co3 -2 =carbonate?? Carbonate is also Co3 without the -2 ?
I have a test today, was sick the entire last week. I don't understand what is going on in Chemistry. I am going to fail this test if this video doesn't help. Yeah, I'm dead
My only real doubt or comment to add, is just we throw out the idea of the prefixes Mono, Di, etc etc? Or when is it appropriate to use those... if at all... just a bit unclear on that part...

I love you. Out of all the chemistry videos, you explain it very well that i can understand it easily. Tell me where do you want to go out to eat?
I have been having the hardest time learning these in General Chemistry and you just blew my mind! Thank you!!
why am i incapable of learning chemistry? the only class i sleep in. literally... 4th and 6th im ok, but that 5th period...
god knows why...
I'm the same case over here and I keep trying over and over
Same
jacobcrayola I understand all of chem except this, it’s too much
I have it 1st period and have my final in the morning.. I know nothing
jacobcrayola chemistry low key easy physics is harder but still easy
I’ve ALWAYS been good in science classes, but Chemistry? CHEMISTRY? My brain just does NOT understand it😭😭 even after watching this video I’m STILL lost

At 3:45, the chemical formula for oxalate should be C2O4^2-
That's hot
direct Charge what

Yes.
better explained than my teacher who took 3 days to teach us this

Omg thank you so much this helped me soooo much with finding the charges of transition metals, have a great year sir!!
you made everything clear and simple,,for me your are the best

3:47 the Oxalate should be C2O4(2−)
Yeah😭😭😭
I got confused so i checked the com sec huhu
so helpgul thanks, you've helped me in calculus, physics and now chemistry
10:00 to 11:00 was the happiest moment of my life thx sooo much I get it from doing equation

Because of this video I passed my chemistry unit exam
congrats bro, although i didn't realize ud take chem or an exam this early
This video helped a lot thank you so much.
you can just use crisscross method no computation required.
True. But I prefer this method for some weird reason

THANK YOU SO MUCH, espeially for the formula! :D

you're better than my gen. chem. prof lol
@theorganicchemistrytutor the chemical formula for oxalate is C2O4^-2
5:27 should it be disodium carbonate?
If you got an answer update mee please
I think it's just for the type 3 I'm not sure..
Hey! I know this is 4 months after but, when you have a monoatomic cation (metal), you just say the whole name. Sodium falls under that category, so it will just be sodium. If the question was name Na3, it will be just Sodium Ion.
3:46 correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't Oxalate C2O4?
I have a quiz in 20 minutes, let's pray
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!
This is amazing thanks!
5:25 shouldn't it be NaCO3²-
or Na CO three(3) negative 2 (2-)
@theorganicchemistrytutor at 5:50 you named BaSO4 Barium Sulfate. How do you know the SO4 is sulfate if it doesnt have the -2 subscript?
Because its in the -2 period
Thank you soooooooo much! 👍👍👍👍
why do you have to use Roman numerals for "PbO" if neither element is a transition metal? Why can't I just say "Lead Oxide" Why is the answer " Lead 2 Oxide"?
Best video ever
Am I the only one who understands nothing😢
Hahahaha same
Nope you are not alone!! Wondering why this subject matter even is necessary ugh!
It’s best to use a cheat sheet as it helps me alot, just search on google “chemistry cheat sheet”.
I finally understand it better
wouldn't 5:58 be Aluminum (III) Hydroxide?
Life saver
love ur videos
I'm about to Ace this test
How did you do?
you're naming them but not really explaining them. why are some with 4 oxygens ending with -ate yet others end in -ite or -ide im not understanding
The way i was so proud of myself when i understood it and did it by myself
We’re kinda lucky cuz in exams they give us the whole periodic table
It's it but the oxidation state of oxygen is -2
I pursue Biology and maybe it's weird that I am not good in math but I am starting to love chemistry haha..
I have a question. When you wrote the name for Na_2 CO_3, why isn't it Disodium Carbonate? Since there are 2 sodium atoms, why is it just sodium carbonate?
It's an ionic compound (metal to nonmetal) so you don't use prefixes.
There’s no way to get sulfurus iron from sulphuric dioxide. The chemical in kit there in the formula. Ask cottone if you need help.
thanks man, this is super helpful. why is ionic so much harder than covalent pleasee :( good luck guys !
I think this video is good for reminding but not learning
in my book acetate formula is CH3COO- 2:55
SaladSpoon.V4 that’s the same thing
wish me luck on my test
in 5;22 Na2 Co3
Does Na2 don't need to do prefix , just become sodium ??

Why do I always end up here at the beginning of every semester?
My only real doubt or comment to add, is just we throw out the idea of the prefixes Mono, Di, etc etc? Or when is it appropriate to use those... if at all... just a bit unclear on that part...
hold on isnt oxalate c2O42-
So when do we use greek prefixes and when do we use roman numerals?
