    What is the difference between Ubuntu 20.04 and 21.04 ?

    • @TechINtn
      @TechINtn  3 года назад

      20.04 LTS stands for long term support, the regular is a every 6 or 9 month upgrade schedule. LTS upgrade every 2 years, they continue getting individual software updates and security updates, but the main distribution does not upgrade to the newest version until the 2 years is up. These are considered rock solid and secure and as a result are used for servers typically

    Your Video does Not Cover how to Update from 20.04 Focal Fossa

    • @TechINtn
      @TechINtn  3 года назад

      it's the same things for ubuntu 20.10 or 20.04

      @@TechINtn You have to take a 20.04 Install Ubuntu System and Upgrade it to 20.10 First. And Like upgrading from 20.10 to 21.04, there are steps that need to be taken that are similar to the ones you describe in your video. But I did not see any reference in your video to updating 20.04 and the required steps that are needed. Not trying to pick on you. But I am tired of Miss leading Captions. Respectfully Robert Tonkavich.
      PS: I will leave you alone now. I did get my 20.04 to 20.10 then to 21.04, similar to the steps that you describe.

      Brian Murray, Ubuntu Bugmaster working at Canonical, wrote an email to the Ubuntu developer mailing list explaining, "In case you missed it in the release notes[1] and hear people asking about it, I wanted to let you know that users of Ubuntu 20.10 are not being prompted to upgrade to Ubuntu 21.04 ... This is due to a bug[2] with the current version of shim in Ubuntu 21.04 which can cause systems with an early version of EFI to fail to boot after the upgrade."
      As mentioned in the release notes of the Hirsute Hippo, the current version of shim in Ubuntu 21.04 is not compatible with EFI version 1.10 and will make these computers unbootable after the upgrade.
      verify if your efi version is > 1.10 to upgrade to 21.04
