When bluprint took over the classes seem to be marketing "teens" and leaned more towards "entertainment ". They really dumbed the classes down.

I had never paid for Craftsy content but I did can an account there as I purchased many patterns through them which also were supposed to be forever. Did the same thing when they changed to Blueprint. Signed in on both. Made sure my content was still there etc. then when they shut down blueprint i got many emails from Craftsy. I tried many times to sign into my account to no avail!! I contacted them and gave them all of my info but they could not find me or my acct anywhere. Really pisses me off. But they keep sending emails to me however they say they dont have my email on file. Hmmmm how does THAT work?!?!?!

I appreciate your candor about these things, especially when it comes to things you have endorsed in the past.
In addition to the additional hurdle of steps to call and cancel a subscription, things like that add a barrier to folks like me who are disabled and have a difficult time making phone calls. A service which requires me to call to handle my account is a service I simply can't use.

I cannot remove my card or change it - both our cards have been shut down now bc of this - now We have to try to contact Craftsy - I will be cancelling everything - they show no renewal on their website but they went to great lengths to try and get money out of us - do not get a Craftsy acct

I has joined craftsy back in early 2019? And I loved it! I was brand new to sewing and a huge fan of Angela Walters and her midnight quilt show so i would watch her videos then go to the craftsy store and buy the quilt kit that corresponded so I could make my own version. I loved how it came with everything including instructions and tips and you could even buy coordinating thread, it had a very professional look and feel to it. I bought three kits from them and loved every one! I was a member and when I found out they had gotten rid of their shop I decided to wait a little bit to see if it ever came back because I didn’t want to lose my discount. A year later they still hadn’t gotten their shop opened back up so I called one morning to cancel, it took a little bit and the customer service representative said they would have a new shop opening back up soon it never gave me a definitive time frame and tried to get me to stay but I told her that I would rejoin when that day came to get my discount back. It was a bit arduous denying her and trying to get my point across that I didn’t want my membership anymore since I only really used It for buying their supplies and quilt kits but I finally got through and canceled.
I miss their shop and the old craftsy, I also miss seeing Angela Walters here on RUclips. They switched her to their platform and made it to where you would have to pay to watch which is really unfortunate. She was essentially the inspiration for me to buy a sewing machine and get into this new hobby, seeing her make a whole quilt in a “night” (I’m sure it was through the power of movie magic) made me feel like maybe i could do it too. Of course I soon realized it takes a WHOLE lot longer but still, she was real and even sometimes showed her mistakes 😅

Get the Privacy app and generate virtual cards (tied to your card, but kept private) and assign it to a single merchant. Set a limit so the merchant can't get more than your limit, and you can pause the card so it's no longer usable (you can un-pause it when you're ready to use it again. Works great on situations like this. No more cancellation headaches. There's also an option to create a one time use card.

About 3 months ago, I saw an advertisement for National Sewing, so I decided to join them. Big mistake!!! So I saw an advertisement after I joined like the day after I tried to get that price for $3.99 for the first year. I could not, so I cancelled my membership. Then I saw an advertisement for Craftsy last week for $1.99, went online to try and join and could not find that price so therefore I did not join. I had no idea that the two companies were affiliated. I'm so glad I saw your video today. I made the right decision!!! Thanks for speaking about your decision. Just wanted to mention, if you haven't already done so, it's a good precaution to notify your credit card about the cancellation and alert them about the potential renewal in March. Give them as much info about the conversation and transaction as you can and have them notate your account. It will be much easier on you in case you are charged in March, even though you should not be. Of course if that happens, it's time to notify the BBB, and possibly the attorney general to investigate fraudulent business practices. Hopefully, you won't be charged! I wish you well!
BTW, I found your site when all the major Craftsy/Bluprint changes occurred last year and have kept an eye out to see your continued updates. I love how straightforwardly and naturally you speak to your audience and appreciate how well-considered you are on the topics you discuss.

Personally I love the new Craftsy. I’m so thankful to have access to not only my forever materials but also access to new courses. Even at the new rate, it’s less than $7 a month for full access so I believe that’s a good deal. I will renew because I don’t want to ever lose Craftsy again like we thought we were last summer. I am incredibly disappointed that the product line is discontinued. But I do have a nice stash of fabric and thread to enjoy going forward. In full disclosure, I am an affiliate for the new Craftsy as I was for Bluprint (which I also loved). But I do pay for my own membership and I would not recommend anything I don’t truly love and use. It’s always interesting to hear other’s thoughts on matters important to our Craft community, but I’m going to have to be the odd voice and express my support for the new platform. Thanks for initiating the conversation. ❤️

How many of us have bought 'craft' things and they sit, sometimes still in the boxes they came in. Guilty. And almost anything you subscribe to you need to call to cancel. Good for you to tell this horrible experience you had. I've had them too, with other companies. It's just so easy for them to take advantage of people. After I cancelled one of them, not only did they take money from my credit card a few more months but they actually took additional funds. My credit card company came to the rescue as far as further deductions were attempted by this company. I may as well say it, it was Norton, a security outfit!!! First of all they hardly ever caught high risk intrusions and kept taking my money. That was about 3 years ago. Every now and then when I search my hard drive for something I see Norton listed and I can't delete it. Online is a risky business. I'm glad to see that your subscription cancellation worked. Too bad that when you find a company you like and they change it to something useless and even raise the prices.

Just happened to see your video and some of your concerns are exactly what happened to me. I called the number listed to cancel my Membership as of 12/31/2020. Never received a confirmation email or anything from the company. In checking my CC bill in January, I was billed for the $79.99 subscription. Sent an email explaining my previous phone call and was told they would issue a credit. Along comes February and still no credit. Another email and I was assured of a credit. Finally, my March statement had the credit. I also explained this did not make me feel comfortable if I wanted to rejoin. Keep checking our CC statements is all I can say. Good Luck

I had a company try to force me to call to cancel a subscription, but I had signed up through the website, so I felt like I should be able to cancel through the website. I emailed to complain about this, so I called and was on hold for over 20 min. I emailed again to add to my complaints and they wrote back that I was cancelled. I kept an eye on my bank account though, but never got charged again. I've found I can generally get what I want if I don't swear, use complete sentences, and be persistent in my emails. 😉

I really apreciate what you've done in this video. This is a public utility service. Thank you so much for this content! Companies that do such practices to retain costumers should be penalized by regulated practices on the market. Enforcement of legal practices does not always work in the practical field. The best regulator in fact are the costumers. When people start not endorsing questionable services or products the companies are forced to change those practices.
I also want to thanks you and congrat you for the very clear way you explained the Craftsy situation. The manner you broght out the facts made me understand clearly the content. I am learning English and this video taught me new vocabulary and also made me not fall into a trap.

I signed up for e-mails but never signed up for the membership but I did find it a bit desperate and excessive that on an almost daily basis they send e-mails asking me to sign up. $2 sounded great but knowing me I wouldn't watch any videos until I was reminded of the expiration so I chose not to and now that I know they would have charged $80 for the next year and made it difficult to cancel, I'm glad I didn't. However, I just recently rejoined but I haven’t seen any of the classes I purchased from my first membership. I will have to do a deep dive on that. You are right about the new classes/videos. I let my membership expire after they sold the company. Before that, I used the platform ALOT - both classes and patterns. I owned quite a few of the permanent classes. I was pretty disappointed. Also, I had a membership to Great Courses Plus. I found some of the best Craftsy classes on that platform, so I could already watch them there. Welcome to the world of American Business. I’m 64, and I wish we told young people that many of the best products and services go up in price and down in value, others go straight to scamming and grifting. I did try the NSCircle membership for $1 and found the content to be uninspiring. I had to call to cancel that subscription and will be following closely to ensure I don't get charged. One thing you can do is call your bank and cancel your credit card and get a new number. I've had to do this a couple of times. My bank is fast at getting the new card out and I made sure it was at a time I wouldn't need to charge something, like at the end of the month. So then, when they try to charge you again, it's a closed card. It may be a pain but if it saves you from spending $80 you don't want to spend, go for it.

This all would have cost a fortune if I had gone for private lessons. I paid $2.49 for all this. Quite a bargain, especially in a pandemic this has saved my sanity. I was going to try and change the auto-renewal too, in December, and found that you could no longer do that - cued me at that time, that problems may be ahead. (I did try to cancel my membership when I heard of this last change, but I could not get anyone to answer me through any of their contact listings) Since the new takeover, I really have not found any new content of interest either - allot of old outdated content imo, and it appears that many of the original teachers are no longer active and their content removed. Please do keep us in the loop - I am thinking I may have to start a few months earlier to cancel my membership, so I am prepared by my expiration time in June.

I did not like the fact that the lessons went from 25 min to 8-10 min long and I had to reset the video resolution down each time so not to use up my bandwidth. I also was not impressed with the classes including yoga etc, not a craft as far as I am concerned. I can still access my forever classes but truth to tell I have not watched them in a couple of years either and I did notice at least 1 that I wanted to check something on is gone. I own many classes purchased at least five years ago. Yes, I still have access to them, however I’ve been bombarded with offers to join for a low price, eg $2.49 for the first year. The emails do disclose that to cancel requires a phone call. I’ve been tempted but it occurred to me that maybe they don’t really cancel the membership-or only cancel after you make threats and then maybe they refund your money. This business practice is inexcusable when it’s so easy to allow cancellation on-line! It’s a shame that this is how they operate. Thank you for doing this video, and I am very interested in what you will encounter next. It occurred to me that I could purchase a credit card with a small balance just for Craftsy, but I am afraid that then they would send my next year membership fee (which I would have cancelled by calling) to collections and mess with my credit. Or at the very least, at that point, I’d lose access to my forever classes. I really miss Bluprint because of the ability to purchase fabric at good prices and with free shipping.

Thanks for your insight! I joined early in the pandemic, so right before the ownership changed. I have to say I missed all the other supply offerings and I don’t really like how it is laid out. Plus, as I’ve grown in my sewing journey for about a year now, I’ve come across so many other great resources and channels, like yours, that I prefer!

Agreed. I miss their shop too. I’d bought lots of fabric.
