gonna go a head and say I've watched this about 100 times and I've been working on it half assed for a while on the mats. More recently, I'm 100% every time doing this, actively, every roll, 6 days a week for the last 2 months. I'm only now starting to hit it consistently and holy shit... guards i couldn't pass are now gone. I'm now in some mix of kasa, side, and north south and happy to be there consistently.
One question I have is why do you need the first step when you place your hands between their legs and get the windshield leg? I have been pulling this off (admittedly against whites and blues) by trapping the leg first then sprawling, depending on what the do I can windshield or usually just walk around
Im confused, he says not to put your head into the loop choke, then he proceeds to put his head into a position where you can just sit up and wrap that neck. Does holding the legs like he does make it harder to sit up? Just trying to understand fully.
As long as you control the arm and maintain heavy pressure with your chest/head, the person on bottom can't sit up and get enough leverage for the loop choke. I think.
It's extremely hard to get a choke when he lifts his head a bit and pushes it into your chest. It's amazing how just a little angle change can make all the difference when it comes to chokes.
lycan004 Notice the head is on top of the triceps. That eliminates the space he needs to get his arm around for the choke. (Pause the video at 3:00 exactly and look at the head position; you'll see what I mean.)

Yup. I’m focusing my game on kesa and north south because people tend to use those positions as transitional
I wish i'd seen this vid ages ago. Bloody knee shield causes me heaps of grief.
This is one of my favorite passes. Pinning the foot to the opponent's butt was a new detail I haven't seen before though. Cool stuff as always!
Nice detail on the loop-choke! I have been loop-choked there a few times before so thanks.
Would love to see some of those sweeps from shield guard you were talking about next.
dude, great videos and even greater techniques! you got a ton of sponsors, perhaps maybe you should just thank them all in a credits roll
Looking forward till the day I get my pink fucking belt
This comment made my day
Nice, slow, and tight - as I want my passes. Awesome!
Love the loop choke from shield!
I hate this guard and I hate everyone who uses it.
If they put me in that guard right there, they're dead!
+Ty Hatfield too far
Too far as in what?
worse than inverted heel hook hunters
Yea so easy to take that, and even if they try to get out of it if you go to the belly and I'll take the back!
This is good. First time I've seen this!
no-gi variation please? I love the little details of this leg rope pass.
I could have used this earlier ! Thanks😀😀
Awesome - thanks, Kurt. Always nice to have a second option. How about some Berimbolo counters for the next MOTW?
I loved it, prefer to pass this way instead of standing passes-
Ok this pass makes sense. I hate shield guard. Thank you for this
Looks workable.
sweet pass.
When your coach is Clay Guida build. 😂😂😂
is there any way to stop them from straighting their leg and just shrimping away?

Prana Kimonos
It's a Prana gi
Fuck yes! I always get stuck in this bitch
how can i counter this pass... all ive seen is an inverted triangle set up but that seems too risky in my opinion
so working off the knee shield concept you have any good passes for half butter/half guard passes?
Prana gi's !

Dont put the head on the chest, drive into the front part of the shoulder.

Why don't you just heel hook you when he does that
Because of the cross collar?
