68 years young here. I am from Rhode Island so naturally. I've attended many beaver brown concerts and viewing them in local clubs since I was old enough to buy alcohol at 18. I still enjoy John Cafferty & Cafferty and Beaver Brown. Ty for all your fantastic music and great times through the years and many Wild Summer Nights!!!
I have watch the movie probably 50 times since it's been Outland it's a timeless classic. Everytime I watch it it's like seeing it for the first time. Fantastic movie.
I Loved Both Eddie and the Cruisers Movies. I also Had the Opportunity to meet John Cafferty and Michael "Tunes" Antunes on a few occasions. Very Nice and Gracious. One of My Fave Bands of All Time. I could see the innuendo about Jim Morrison still being alive as Well. I really do Believe Jim Lives. Thank You for posting this video.
Thank you for taking me back in time. I just turned 68 and lost my husband in 2002. Every day i miss him so much.. You remind me so much of him. Thank you for a great song. Your band is GREAT to. Maybe one day I will be able to make it to one of your concerts. God bless you all.
Although I grew up in Chicago, my grandma was from Philly (transplant to Chicago) and my great grandma moved to the Jersey shore to Brigentine Island. I was only 7 when Eddie and the Cruisers came out but my dad had me watch it. I just loved it. I watched it many times on the pirated VHS or Beta tape. What was cool is how it was set in Jersey and they really captured the way the Jersey shore was. I spent 2 weeks there every summer and my aunt who was younger than my young mom moved out there so it was cool because my sister and I would go all around with her, even to parties on a remote beach area which you needed a 4x4 to get back there. Just a cool vibe out there in the early 80’s. John Cafferty has that vibe. One day I’ll see him and the Beaver Brown Band.l live. The Jersey shore and the people will always hold a special place in my childhood experience. I’m sure it’s totally different now like all things. I know the little bungalow cape cod houses like my great grandma lived in are gone (2 blocks from the beach and the hotel with the bar that was always blasting music out on the beach), replaced with fancy summer homes but what a cool experience it was at a cool time.
@@CreatingExcellence As a 76 year old Jersey Shore lady I thank you for your kind words about the area, the 2 movies, the band and the good times of the past. Yes, the Jersey Shore has changed drastically over the years for many reasons. Sad to say our beautiful Jersey shore was badly damaged by hurricanes like Andrew and Sandy. Many untouched and pristine areas, beautiful homes, and wide shorelines have disappeared due to weather, erosion and time. The passage of time has also increased the population (many of whom have no respect for the ambiance of the past, animal habitats nor the peaceful existence and cultural lifestyles of our area's history. Now, the trend is just to chase the Almighty buck by filling every empty space with more people and more construction of unsightly warehouses, cheaply built homes, condos and shopping plazas. What was once a compelling landscape of beauty has become a money-driven conglomerate filled with tons of unnecessary construction, traffic jams with rude impatient drivers and very little natural, unfettered land to be found. It's sad to see the area that I love be destroyed by the greedy hands of outsiders who only wish to line their pockets with cash and fill every empty space they can find. P.S. Just an fyi- it's spelled Brigantine and unfortunately, that area has also been the victim of growth and greed. Please keep your memories of the glory days of New Jersey close to your heart for yourself and pass them on to your family. THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
i got eddie and cruisers and part2. at first i really thought Michael pare was singing but i realized at was john Cafferty music sounded great i got soundtrack. great film.
It was after the movie came out that the band name changed with John's being up front. When they were playing in the bars here in RI they were The Beaver Brown Band PERIOD. And if it wasn't for the movie, only the locals would remember/know who they are.
That’s not true , as far as I know The name changed happened before that maybe, ‘82 I remember going to see the band at a place called Engine company #9 on South Main St in Providence and Bobby told me they were changing the name of the band ! It might be when they signed the contracts idk ! But what difference does it make! I agree with John the movie was odd with his voice and the lip sync was off !
My question is: why would you feel the need to “point out” stuff that is negative. C’mon man, it’s Fans and music, we don’t need you to “period” your statement. And, in case you are dense….I’m a fan, from way back when, don’t care if you have some “local beef,” breath easy and show respect. I’m sure your right, about your history, but, I for one wish you the best that life can offer, prosperity, as you go forward, and a better disposition. Your post, while it may be true, is petty, and beneath you.
Still one of my favorite movies of all time! Such a great soundtrack! I watch both movies at least 2 or 3 times a year! I would have loved to see a part 3. I have to go see JC and the Beaver Brown Band just about every time they are playing in the area!
It was easy for me back as a 22 year old watching E+C at the movie theater and the music blowing my mind as it was so cool. I believe it had a sad ending. 41 years later I have learned that intro and that is something I never thought possible. John Cafferty is a legend and I love his music. Pure legend.
Hey John. This film is the biggest rock n roll mystery to me, for a punk rock guy. I believed that Eddie was real for so many years to dig enough and find out about you guys. Still my favorite movie ever and even seeing YOU now man, nothing but respect. This stuff does pull me thru the dark side.
I was a fan before I saw the movie, I like Springsteen , but I want John to know that I've always been a bigger fan of his. It's just got a groove that takes me back. When their in the pocket I get lost in the music. Thank you, John cafferty for some of the best real get down and dirty rock and roll ever , and to mr. Antunes like a bell skipping over a clear lake. Big fan love your show Michael Brown
I see John Cafferty and it's an instant like on your vid... a huge catalogue of hits over the years, just brilliant... I checked out the link with the greatest hits, and one thing I noticed is one of their greatest songs isn't on the album, and I don't get it, because it's a single hit song just by itself... the 'NYC Song'... I don't understand how it isn't on there???? Lookin forward to your other vids on this man mate...
I was just leaving the military 40 years ago 😱and saw the movie on base. Loved the soundtrack. Have listened to John and the band ever since. Got tix to their show Mar 16. Can’t wait.❤️🔥
So im on RUclips trying to find the movie to watch because it's been awhile. And I ran upon this, I just want to say all these years I still love the movie and the music. I've played the music while listening with my kids. My son actually ended up playing the sax and now the piano and the guitar ❤
John Cafferty just seems like a good guy. Someone you’d want to hang out with. Seems so humble and blue collar like, but with the talent that is God given. Not that he’s not been very successful, but I could see him and the band being so much bigger, if that’s what he wanted, that with a little nudge could have been headlining arenas all over the country. Yes, the inevitable comparisons to Bruce, Eastern band, similar styles, especially knowing how to make the sax such an important part of their sound, almost like a 2nd lead singer. But being compared to Bruce is high praise. They both have the charisma and the chops to entertain for hours. Love his interviews.
A great band...and one that I've unfortunately never gotten to see in concert before. Eddie & the Cruisers was a fantastic film, and their music blended perfectly. I'd love to hear more about the songs from the film - how they were created/developed...and what they meant to the writer.
I was just a kid when Eddie & The Cruisers & it's sequel, came out & I thought that Michael Paré was actually singing. Later I found out he wasn't & only lip syncing & that John Cafferty was the real singer. I used to call his music, Eddie's music. NO, John's music. Much respect to you John. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to lend your singing voice to a movie like that, just for the fact that some kids may very well think that's MIchael Paré's voice. You deserve credit for your artistry & voice.
The lip synching thing takes on another dimension when the character plays an instrument. Michael Paré did a good job with the vocal miming but it was painfully obvious he was not a guitarist. It was refreshing to see a film like "That Thing You Do" where they taught the actors prior and let them woodshed a while to look believable playing as a band.
Absolute legends. This band got me playing guitar. Then my mom showed me the movie. What a decade the 80s were. But rose coloured glasses get fogged faster. Keep rocking you bloody legends.
No one and I mean no one sounds like John Cafferty... His sound and his band are awesome. I agree with him, Eddie and The Cruisers are playing HIS SONGS not the other way around.
I love the movie I think the actor chosen to play Eddie was great cuz his natural voice sounds so close to John’s singing voice it almost sounds like he’s singing the songs
If you watch the scene when they are on the roof practicing and they are doing On The Dark Side they forgot to turn off the microphone and Michael Pare was really singing
I started a band solely because of John Cafferty’s music. The dude has zero idea how influential he is. The movie sent me into a deep dive. I’m just a massive fan of his work.
John Cafferty was the first concert i saw at king's college in wilkes-barre PA in the earlier 80's. my dad dropped me and two friends off about 10 hours earlier because we wanted to get in line for tickets earlier. we were the only ones in line for about 9 hours....lol
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band's work on Eddie is iconic. I was 9 when I saw it, and I felt pretty inspired by it. Definitely influenced the direction of my tastes to this day, really. Actually it was one part "On the Dark Side," AC/DC's Who Made Who record, and the Beach Boys. I wonder if Cafferty maybe shoulda changed the band's name tho, haha. The Cruisers might have made it easier for guys to get their girls to the show.
I saw the beaver brown band live at thr club bene in NJ just as the were wrapping for eddie 2. I recall him saying to the crowd that it was weird to watch his voice come outa someone elses mouth all day
Whenever Allison Kraus and her band plays Man of constant sorrow, Mr Kaminsky tells his wife that it's his voice coming out of Clooney's mouth, too which she replys,"perfect "
I remember seeing it finally after missing it in the theater and the movie channels. The final scene leaves you wondering. That's your only spoil from me! John Cafferty does look healthy and youthful. It's hard to believe it's almost 40 years ago! John had good reasons not watching it. I mean it took me years to watch it. The sequel continues asking the question. You'll have to see it yourself for the "answer." Finally, John seems like such a genuine guy.
When Eddie and the Cruisers II came out, the music was fresh and original. Yeah the idea was... Elvis lives... I can still watch the DVD today if I wished.
Double edge to this cant have the movie without the tunes cant have the tunes without the movie at the time (HBO cought this movie on if i remember right.)
I was like 12 when I rented Eddie 2 , then would rent the original . Obsessed with the movies and soundtracks from that point . I would often play NYC Song in bars and stuff in a band I was with for years . People would think it was an original , and I would often recommend they find JCBB band ..
Very understandable that John would not enjoy hearing his voice coming out of an actor's mouth in "Eddie and the Cruisers." Maybe the most impressive thing about the 1978 film "The Buddy Holly Story" is that Gary Busey and his bandmates performed live for the cameras.
First thing that struck me is that his hair is not dark. But it doesn't look like he's gone grey. My hair is darker than his and is light in places but his is like blonder where his pictures it is dark brown. Interesting for him how he hears his voice come out of the singer. Must've been odd. But hey, it brought him and his band, (Named after a kind of brown paint.) Beaver Brown got a huge lift in their career.
I always said it was springteen style music put to the jim Morrison story. Just like the rose was put to the janis joplin story. Only bettevwas really singing. A great movie ,great acting and great music Eddie lives!!!
Perhaps unpopular opinion: while I love this soundtrack - I like the songs in Eddie 2 even better (there were other flaws with the movie but the songs are excellent)
..and lets not forget Michael Pares stunning sexy gorgeous looks. I mean, the voice coming out of Michaels mouth had to be 1000% awesome plus believable because with that face......sheesh ...!!!!!!!
He's had a beef with this idea for quite some time! I've always thought it was wrong crediting "On the Darkside" video as "Eddie and The Cruisers"! I've actually enjoyed the Music separately from the movie as the two other non-soundtrack albums "Tough All Over" and "Roadhouse". I never liked how they would. I never like the EATC album cover of TAO, that wasn't cool to the band at all. I don't need the "Greatest Hits"
No it wasn't a big budget film but it blew up into a cult classic. Not taking anything away from Michael Pare's acting but John's song was the catalyst. Tender Years was the follow up. It would have been great if John had acting ability and was cast to sing his own songs like Tommy, Purple Rain and many other movies.
The negative, IMHO, is that John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band has been kind of overshadowed by the movie. I own and have watched the movies numerous times and still, to this day, enjoy the h..l out of watching them. I love John’ song writing and music and, being western Canadian, would not have known about he, or the band, but for these movies.
After more years than I want to admit, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band is still one of my favorites of all time.
Eddie And The Cruisers is a classic !!!!.Great movie. Great cast. Great music. Great video
John Cafferty and the band were the most underrated musicians of their time
John's singing voice and Michael Pare's speaking voice were a good match and made it believable that Pare was singing.
Eddie and the Cruisers is easily my favorite movie soundtrack!
I still in my opinion was one of the greatest movies of all time and the music was perfect
Go see John Cafferty live. You won't be disappointed. Great party atmosphere!
I liked both movies, I have both cd's of the movies, I like John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Bands style of music.
They are great John and his band! Great songs!!❤ Thank you for the music!!

Eddie N' The Cruisers 1983 it's just G0LD.
John is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He gives 110% in his shows. Have to see him live never disappoints.
yes! John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band! ...one of THE GREAT all american rock n roll bands! thank u gentlemen!
I have watch the movie probably 50 times since it's been Outland it's a timeless classic. Everytime I watch it it's like seeing it for the first time. Fantastic movie.
I feel the same. John cafferty and the beaver brown band is the best. The music never changes. It's so good.

Music was amazing and totally suited the era and style they were going for. John Cafferty is fantastic

Crazy hazy memory of seeing Beaver Brown at Gullivers in Smithfield RI - late ‘70’s, early ‘80’s

I saw them at a club in Chelmsford Massachusetts back in the early 90’s
I’m glad they survived the lean years.
love john cafferty and beaver brown band
Thanks for those songs. Anybody who plays even a couple chords like me learned later + knows they are your songs. Dug the movie too ! Left a mark bro.
I was just a kid when Eddie & The Cruisers & it's sequel, came out & I thought that Michael Paré was actually singing. John Cafferty, A Living Legend!
Great People Great Band!
Saw them in Spokane, great show.🥰
Love this...
I saw these guys in Shreveport at Champion Lake with Black Oak Arkansas,Warrant and Blackfoot.Outstsnding show.

It was refreshing to see a film like "That Thing You Do" where they taught the actors prior and let them woodshed a while to look believable playing as a band.
The movie really caught the spirit of the South Jersey shore back in the day.

Just for a short time before they go into the video of him on stage
Believability is that you are so great John and the Beaver brown band that I hope you felt the tribute the way I did. Great American music.
I started a band solely because of John Cafferty’s music. The dude has zero idea how influential he is. The movie sent me into a deep dive. I’m just a massive fan of his work.
Great music in the movies (1 & 2) - also the greatest hits album is a great collection!!
The movies were awesome i only know of your music from the movie i never knew who you were until Eddie and the cruisers. Michael Pare' is so sexy.
JC is one of the real ones. Was around him a few times, shot his shows. Good peeps, Fantastic shows. He comes, check him out. Awesome performances! ❤
John Cafferty was the first concert i saw at king's college in wilkes-barre PA in the earlier 80's. my dad dropped me and two friends off about 10 hours earlier because we wanted to get in line for tickets earlier. we were the only ones in line for about 9 hours....lol
Always knew who originally sang songs y'all were the best
Best musical movie ever! As well as the sequel
It was a good movie and the sound track is stellar.
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band's work on Eddie is iconic. I was 9 when I saw it, and I felt pretty inspired by it. Definitely influenced the direction of my tastes to this day, really. Slide a Cheek for Beaver Brown! John Cafferty is the real deal man & musician and always has been.
Whenever Allison Kraus and her band plays Man of constant sorrow, Mr Kaminsky tells his wife that it's his voice coming out of Clooney's mouth, too which she replys,"perfect "
What John Cafferty was to Narragansett, RI, Mary Maguire was to Mackinaw City, MI. Legends.
You'll have to see it yourself for the "answer."
Finally, John seems like such a genuine guy.
Michael Pare did such a great job it kind of made John feel unnoticed. I can understand that lol
I love this movie.
Imagine how Springsteen must have felt.
About what?
When Eddie and the Cruisers II came out, the music was fresh and original. Yeah the idea was... Elvis lives... I can still watch the DVD today if I wished.
Really loved Roadhouse Album My Favorite Song on it is "Small Town Girl". I'm A Small Town Guy always Knew Who Small Town Girls Were
Yeah that all makes sense. Your songs and voice really fit the character played by Michael Pare. But it makes sense what you said.
Every since the movie I can’t hear John sing without picturing Mike singing it
Double edge to this cant have the movie without the tunes cant have the tunes without the movie at the time (HBO cought this movie on if i remember right.)
Music & words, words & music!
I love Eddie and the cruisers i have the movie and all the soundtracks on cds
Love this band
Well I'm 51 and saw the movie several times on cable back in the day. Until just now, I thought that Bruce Springsteen did the soundtrack.
I was like 12 when I rented Eddie 2 , then would rent the original . Obsessed with the movies and soundtracks from that point . I would often play NYC Song in bars and stuff in a band I was with for years . People would think it was an original , and I would often recommend they find JCBB band ..
Easily the best movie music tracks ever to exist
It did have that Jim Morrison thing to it . I was into the Doors as well .
I know the lead guitar player Gary Gramalini really good guy, plays out with my buddy Roger Cerisi all the time.
Very understandable that John would not enjoy hearing his voice coming out of an actor's mouth in "Eddie and the Cruisers." Maybe the most impressive thing about the 1978 film "The Buddy Holly Story" is that Gary Busey and his bandmates performed live for the cameras.

I always said it was springteen style music put to the jim Morrison story. Just like the rose was put to the janis joplin story. Only bettevwas really singing. A great movie ,great acting and great music Eddie lives!!!
TENDERS YEARS Hiraeth would be a nice retitle to the First soundtrack!
This channel should be bigger.
Michael made Eddie , John made the music!
Things are tough all over
Also big for me at the time was MSB Heartland
Please come to NY area!!!!
Cafferty didn't write the lyrics, not sang in the movie. Before the Cruisers John Cafferty was a garage band who played in bars.
Perhaps unpopular opinion: while I love this soundtrack - I like the songs in Eddie 2 even better (there were other flaws with the movie but the songs are excellent)
I have always felt that way too. The sequel soundtrack is on my playlist.
I think most thought it was actually Michael singing and not John!
I love your music 🎵🎶 Beyond Eddie
But My Opinion The 2nd Sequel has better music 🎶
Than the first
But 1st movie 🍿 Better Movie
John was saying my way with a sisarian in his head
Hey John, play your damn music! You wrote it play it everybody would enjoy it
..and lets not forget Michael Pares stunning sexy gorgeous looks. I mean, the voice coming out of Michaels mouth had to be 1000% awesome plus believable because with that face......sheesh ...!!!!!!!
Springsteen meets Hollywood...
My dad loves this movie but he thinks its based on real events and its not but its still a great movie
Wish John played the lead role - would have been better! Johnny! Johnny! Johnny! < that fits!
Interesting how he reminds me of Joe Walsh when he speaks.
His wallet certainly didn't suffer. And Michael Pare did an amazing job lip syncing the lyrics, the best job I've ever seen, totally believable.
