Joe’s poem has to go down in Countdown history as one of the greatest moments. Not even Sean can hold it together and that’s an accomplishment in itself. RIP Sean

Seeing everyone laughing uncontrollably with Joes "Naming" poem is so relieving (stress / anxiety -wise).
It gives me a throbbing ache in the back of my head from laughing so hard, but the good kind of pain that I masochistically return to again and again.
Someone who was at that taping said that it took a long time to finish the poem because Joe was breaking up constantly and the audience (and panel) was in hysterics. The only thing I wished is they had shown Rachel and Susie's reactions. They may have had to take a break to re-apply makeup.

Joe's poem is funny but Sean laughing makes me laugh way more. I miss that man so much.
The No. 1: Even Joe Wilkinson can’t hold it together…and he wrote the bit! And Katherine Ryan’s reaction to “Mrs. Furnsby” is priceless. But the best part of the clip is Sean’s uncontrollable laughter…and his begging “please stop”! This has always been my favorite 8 o 10 Cats moment. I watch it at least thrice a week 🤣

I laugh hysterically every time I see Joe read his poem.
Where's Sean's 'Challenging Wank' zinger ? That's top three material, that is.
Sean's whole pregame segment (Seal clubbing, Rectum of the Year) was pure gold. The Challenging Wank was the topper, especially when Rachel later said that her father was in the audience that night.

With Rachel wearing her glasses and Aisling wearing the wig I couldn't tell the difference between them. Also love Rachel's attempt at her accent making Aisling crack up immediately. Errrm yes I got it 😂😂

I only ever watched the odd countdown clips and loads of QI. I still don't know why, but Sean's passing really hit me hard. I'm so glad Bill Bailey organised a charity walk on his behalf. He seemed like a genuinely decent guy and he's very much missed.
Damn, I miss Sean. Absolute legend.

Never in a million years, I’m nearly off of American TV entirely now. Between this show, Taskmaster, and WILTY I don’t miss US programming whatsoever.

The poem by Joe had Sean laughing like Jimmy and Jimmy laughing normally.
I was waiting for the "What have you been looking into..." clip to show up. Joe of all people losing his composure and attempting to say "the most unnecessary..." through his laugher makes it even funnier.
I think I remember Jimmy saying in an interview that early in the series run he wouldn't lay into Suzy since she was seen as a more serious person than the rotating pannel of mostly commedians, but Suzy told him to go for it... and it seems he did.

Being from America I have no idea who these people are (other than Jimmy Carr) or what the show is, but after having a clip pop up on my YT recommendations I sought out some more Sean Hook videos. The man is a comedy genius! I say IS because after some comments that he has passed his brilliant humour IS still alive for new fans like me. RIP sir and thank you. The gentleman's poem at the end had me crying (literally) with laughter and that was partly due to Sean Hook's reaction. We got the reruns in America of Monty Python back in the early 70's and I own most of what they ever did (including the scripts from the show). Forty years later I am finding this, and I'm having the same feelings of ecstasy and surprise that there are humans THIS funny in the world. It gives me hope. You Brits don't know how lucky you are!

Whipple did write a book on the subject in 1982 - more than 40 years after it had been discovered .

The brilliant thing about Joe's poem, is its a poem about violating the number one rule of the guy code. Which is: "when at the public urinal, thou shalt not look neither to the right, nor to the left, thou shalt only look straight down." Not only does it violate that sacred rule, but it goes so far as to give them a name.
