I just got my machine for Christmas and also have a Silhouette cutting machine, I would love to see more tutorials on how to be able to use cut files I've already purchased using my Alta. I'm not planning on using mine for major 3D images but as thinner designs for cards and layouts. I wish there were some design options for that.
Hi! Thank you for this awesome video and for the tip about the glue stick. I bought my machine at Cookie Con in February and it just arrived this week. I can't wait to get started! However, at Cookie Con, the demonstrator said the machine would need to be calibrated before using it. Do you know how to do that? Did you find that to be the case?
I bought my machine on Facebook marketplace and it didn't come with the tube you have on the outside😢. Also I can't get my filament to go through the tube on the outside
I am thinking about purchasing one. Are you still enjoying it? Do you regret your purchase? Where do you buy your filament (from Silhouette or another 3rd party)?
I got a Alta 3D Plus for Christmas and I have been trying to make solid plaques. I have watched all the videos, I have even emailed Silhouette America and I received no response from them. I am truly at a point where I hate this machine. So the plaque I have been trying to print, I size it at 85mm W and 2.0mm D and 75mm for Height. I go to print and it prints out a 50 x 50 and I am constantly having to calibrate. I truly need some help. This is really a not user friendly printer. the information received on this printer was truly false. If you can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance
thanks to your video i got my alta to feed and heat up the filament, after that i get nothing.. every time i try to print any item all the print estimants are 0.00 the time and filament.and the picture isnt on the print preview it show on the bottom in a box that say sliced.. any help for me? as of yet i so regret buying this $400 paper weight
I’m curious to know if this machine can be used like the glowforge? Can this machine make acrylic pieces for earrings and necklaces? Can we bring our own design onto the software like we can with Silhouette 3? Is this able to use some type of acrylic, gold or silver materials to make necklaces and earrings? Sorry for so many questions
Hey there! You could definitely print out jewelry pieces with an Alta, but they will have a different look and feel from cut acrylic or wood pieces like you can get with a Glowforge. In general, 3D printed items aren't as smooth or dense as cut acrylic. You can get filament in all kinds of colors and finishes though. I have used metallic, wood look, and glow in thee dark filaments. You can use your own designs with the Alta. I would say that is what kind of sets this machine apart, especially if you are already a Silhouette crafter. Hi, i'm from Costa Rica and a i have a cuestion.......when i'm printing a skull, sometime the machine stops and then continue printing.....and it print some blubbles outside the design......i have 2 days with the silhouette and i want to know if you can help me with that. I saw your print and i notice the machine never stops like mine.
Haha... new machines are sure to have some wrinkles to iron out! But, I haven't had many issues at all, honestly. There is a bit of a learning curve getting started, but I'm hoping this video would help with that. :) They did recently release an updated version of the software, and I expect they will continue to update and improve it just as they have with the Silhouette Studio cutting machine software.

Don't be discouraged! It all depends on the size of the object being made and the print settings. My projects have ranged anywhere from 7 minutes to 3 hours.
No matter how I jiggle or push I cannot get the filament into the machine. The newest software wouldn't work so I had to download the legacy version to even be able to see that this stupid thing was even connected. I am totally regretting ever buying this machine. So far I hate it.

Yes! Definitely. You can add text to shapes in the software using the fonts you have on your computer.
