In this video Canadian Guitarist/producer Dean Wolfe reacts to The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding of Reality by Epica.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician on the road at age 17 for two years, but went part-time ever since while holding day careers including as a chef and in spiritual health care while raising a family.
I've recorded hundreds of my own songs- many being used in media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I abandoned the prog genre more or less back in the 1990s but have returned to it now with vigour a full 30 years later- so much prog I've ignored and quite frankly didn't have any idea about. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electric as well).

    What a masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥
The composition, the voices, the instruments, the lyrics.. all are out of this world.

Epica rules in the genre. They created over 100 standout songs. An achievement not many acts can follow. And Epica is still going strong hence their 20th upcoming anniversary! Add soprano Simone Simons to it ( she btw writes about 50% of all the Epica lyrics) and you're in for a treat!

I discovered Epica in 2016, and have been in love with them ever since. I had the pleasure/honor to see them live in Jan '20. IMHO this is one of their most underrated masterpieces. It's like the Bohemian Rhapsody of symphonic metal taken to a whole other level for which there are no words to describe it. Welcome to the Epicaverse, and may you have joy of it.

Epica is incredible and Simone is a goddess!
I never heard anything like that before I discovered them. Are you going to do more? :)

    Epica is superior! Nuff said
No one within their musical realm can even match and outmatch them.

I like Epica, but unless you are a Latin scholar, it can detract from your enjoyment of the music. I also don't have much time for Mark Jansen's cod-philosophy and embrace of conspiracy theories.

I honestly have no idea what most latin lyrics are saying but it's no different from when I listen to japanese lyrics or dutch lyrics and I can still enjoy those.
I do think this song has a bit too much of choir work (latin or english) and that makes it one of my less favorites of their long tracks, but the music is still damn good.

@@dac2007 agree! Latin lyrics in Epica songs fit in every song they make!
