As a Latino, as a Peruvian, I can only thank the English for having given the world the most beautiful music. Their bands and their songs, for me, and I am sure that for many, they are already part of the cultural heritage of humanity.
Very nice of you to say, but I love the Latino influence on the West, too. If you like this, prepare to have your mind blown: ruclips.net/video/ym5npE0OX6k/видео.html
Man, 12" inch single versions of songs really allowed the artist to create such a much more indepth piece of work. Radio versions often scrapped important parts and just gave us the meat and potatoes of the song.
We’re not far from 40 years since this release. The poster of this EP hung over the turntable in the record store where I worked. I sometimes retreat to vinyl and the All Night Version when the atheism of my existence finds me needing some religion. Few in my small town, middle America, understood how magnificent this really was. They just couldn’t get REO Speedwagon out of the high school tape deck in their minds. The gift, these decades later, is that it still stands, out of time like the Pieta, or the Mona Lisa. It will, fate willing, endure even as those of us who remember the world before it fade into the blackness.
The song and this mix in particular speak to my soul. The break at 3:18 spotlighting the mandolin accompanied by the cello leaves me breathless and by the time the drums arrive at 3:55 with the entire orchestra ... let’s just say it’s an emotional experience. Thank you Ian, thank you God.
While this is a beautiful song to me,there are many awesome songs like Always the Sun & Golden Brown thee Stranglers, the Liminanas and Brian Jones town Massacre are great musicians too.
La oscuridad romántica, la siniestra dulzura y la melancolía, Lord Byron hubiese derramado lágrimas..gracias Echo and The Bunnymen...gracias por el esplendor...
I’m obsessed with Petes drumming in this ( well I’m obsessed with is drumming with every echo and the bunnymen song rip Pete de Freitas underrated legend
This is a Masterpiece, everything a song should have, the Orchestral section is so pleasing, the vocals by Ian match every mood of the music, it is mind blowing. just perfect in every way, offers everything
I can only imagine myself and my love lying on the boat. Our eyes glued to the great celestial bodies in the infinitely dark sky. Together, we are taking in the moment but it then passes but to only be replaced by yet another fantastic moment. We are fated to be here in this serene scene for eternity.
Don't take this as a diss, because I am huge fan of "death of the author", the beautiful ability for art to be this flexible, liquid thing that changes in the hands of those who experience it, but...that seems like a wonderfully optimistic vision for a song dripping with fatalist imagery called "The Killing Moon"....
To this day get the same feelings w this masterpiece! Loved it in 1986 when 1st got it to seeing them only 3x’s times throughout my lifetime.....WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS !!!
Now.. Is anyone else obsessed with the sound of the *strumming* (plucking?) of the guitar, during the chorus? I can't get enough of that sound, or this song. 1:17-1:38, 7:00 and up is a good example. Throughout the whole song though.
5:06 I read your plucking reply And it right there too Love it too Here comes the plucking in another way here at 6:26 and now along with la la la lalaaa Oh now deep voice of Ian at 7:26 and then right to high octave I am not getting enough even when I thought version would satisfy me Ohhhhh
Adam Peters played the strings on cello. The pizzicato sound is a bit of a mystery, as the register is too high for that instrument. But apparently the producer used a synth for the other string parts. Maybe an E-mu Emulator?
It is so good that spotify had to actually take it down because people would't list to any other track other than this one a legendary rip from the vinyl
2022? Never mind that this is 39 years old. If you haven't heard the London Symphony Orchestra remix of this from a few years ago, it's quite an experience.
This is the song from the Supernatural Season 1 UK Promo 'Scary Just Got Sexy'. Always wanted to listen to the whole song. 15 years later, here I am...
The picture on the cover says it all.I used to turn off the lights with just the strobescope on my technics lighting up the room on a Sunday dreading work the next day, half cut ......oooh take me back too those young free and single days
Its may 2022 omg has it really been 40 years i would have been 20 i got in to the the bunny men when they released the cutter album im still listening and still love there music top shit where did the years go shit cant believe im 61 i dont feel it

The most haunting dark New Wave song..this version is a killer!!❤🖤
9 minutes that passes all too quickly, I could easily handle a 20 minute version of this, a majestic masterpiece without equal.
I once made a 45-minute version.

Like Prince.
I can still hear Annie Nightingale's fan-girly ravings about this song.
For me, the best song in the whole world. Nothing compares to this atmosphere.
That guitar solo pulls my soul out of my body.❤
Who ever di this arrangement is a genius
FOR ME, THIS TRACK SUMS UP WHAT THE 80'S WERE ALL ABOUT !!!!!!!!!!
Exactly.
back in 2002 with my black camaro ss i would play this song with the top off and drive for miles and miles ………. damn those were the days
the most holy and sacred music
Just like New Order Perfect kiss this song cannot be shortened to a radio mix . This extended is pure perfection
released in my twelfth year
found me at my most formative
escorted me through the decades
many thanks to the musicians
This song takes me back and forward in my life. Not just a song, an entity. A presence.

Couldn't agree more. They couldnt not make a song like this today.
I understood.
For me it is…The Girl With The Pearl Earring
@@bentonrcmp ......who's that?
Wow. Poetic and strangely beautiful.
The b side of this 12” single is the most exciting thing I’ve ever heard.... ‘Do it Clean’ live at the Royal Albert Hall.
.
......I paid 1 dollar for the single version 4 years ago at Jupiter Records in Delaware. .......the cover caught my eye.
I was only 13 yrs.old that time but I'll never get tired of listening my favorite 👌🎶
A masterpiece.
My dad introduced me to this song when I was a toddler and I am so glad that he did.

Have you heard the 12'' of Blancmange's version of The Day Before You Came ?
That lets itself go a bit more,
too.
One of the greatest breakdowns of all time
the more i listen to this the more i think it may be the greatest pop song ever written.
Pop song? Really?
Maybe it was pop then, but now i think it's more understood as a neo 80s Gothic classic
@@Ocean-Rain well, yes, it’s pop

At the advent of eBay, I searched for the All Night Version on CD and overbid on a Japanese import. I haven't regretted winning it for a minute.

A master class on how to use the "Wall of Sound" production technique for a darker song... it's not all feel good Phil Spector.

I thought it was harps, at first! Really unusual, love it too!
Pretty sure it's plucked violin with chorus and delay added.
5:06 I read your plucking reply
