Thanks for the video , just wondering can this feature be customized to show the tool tip only when I hover on specific column? so far Tool tip shows when I hover on all columns in the table

Cool-o! Is there a way to bring in a field or measure description into the tooltip? We have fields with looooong descriptions and short names. I want the short names for labels, but have the lengthy explanatory description on the tooltip.

Love this new feature, at last I can add images on to the map and using this instead of drillthrough for graphs is much easier from a user perspective (no explanation needed how to use it as you said it Patric you hover over and “bam” its there). 👍

Hi Patrick. Great video! Made me smile again... I took me some time to find out I needed to check the 'Report page tooltips', under Options. That enables the option 'Tooltip' under Page Information in my tooltip page.
Yeah the preview features trip us up sometimes :)
Where is options at? Im trying to do the same thing.
File>Options and settings>Options>Preview Features>Check Report Page Tooltips. Hope that helps

Just a quick question, if you use a table as a report page tooltip you sometimes get a scroll bar when there are too many rows to display, is it possible to actually interact with the tooltip and scroll down or is the scroll bar just cosmetic at this stage?

Hey Patrick ! Hope you are doing good.
I am writing this as I found a cool way to show a tool tip which is actually inspired by this video.
Many times you get a requirement where you need to show a description/detail of your particular report page if you click a link/button. I got a similar requirement where I need to show a detail of the report page as a pop up when an user will over the cursor on a link.
What I did was, I put all the details, which was quite big and customized the page size accordingly after making it a tooltip page. I made a measure, which will be like:-
MeasureName = UNICHAR(128161)
After that I put this measure in a card, which was ultimately showing a bulb. I turned on the tooltip of this card and linked it to my tool tip page. Boom ! you got it. You hover your mouse and you see the detail.
And as you always say, you want it, we give it.

Nice one! Is there a way to show other tooltips/graphs based on the level in a matrix (hierarchy)? I have sales in countries (header 1), cities (header 2) and streets (header 3) in a matrix structure and i want my tooltip to show the details on each level. So when i hover over a country, i want to see a breakdown of all sales in the cities that are in that specific country. When i hover over a city, i want to see a breakdown of sales in the streets that are in that specific city. Basically I need to see another graph based on the "selection" in my hierarchy. Is that possible? Thanks a lot!!

Hi Patrick, Nice video. We know that if we place two fields in the same axis drill down option will be enabled in a graph. In this case how this tool tip option will work. Do we need to place those two fields in the tool tip page? Could you please clarify on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi, is it possible to create a tooltip that shows different values for each column of the matrix? For example, if I have a matrix with three columns (Store Name, Sales, and Profit) then is it possible to have a tooltip that shows information only about stores when user hovers the mouse on store column of the matrix, and so on)

Ho to keep the tooltip there on the screen for some more time if we remove the mouse from the visual?

today I watched your video for the first time and you are very very fast. I have to go back 10 times in order to figure out on which page you are making changes. you definitely need to slow down. I am here to learn the new feature of Power BI and you are changing pages so frequently that I couldnt figure out as which page you are on i.e. Tooltip page or Report page.

Thanks Pat. I'm trying to apply a tooltip to a Power BI card (numbers and text only, as opposed to a chart) and the tooltip does not appears to work. If I change from Card to Chart the tooltip works. Is this is tooltip limitation or am I missing something?

If you mean displaying the report page tooltip only on the column header, that doesn't exist.

Can we use calculate measure in tool tip?
Yes. Just be careful about your filter context. We have used Sync Slicers in the past to get the right filter context.

It's an older version. Video was published in late April of 2018. So either the March or April 2018 build of Power BI Desktop. We always stay on the latest build.

I've tried using the feature in embedded reports using Power BI Embedded but it doesn't work no more: isn't it available for embedding? Thanks
Report page tooltips aren't available for embedding yet. It is coming.
