Me too. I pretty much started here and have progressed rather well in my orchestration/arraignment/voicing, but I like to touch base with the ground level. Fred is terrific.
My father looked just like this man. This is so beautiful and fits how we played together. It's overwhelming I know my dad would have loved this. I wonder what he would have said about this song. I'm sure he knew it.
Thanks for the history, soft rendition of the song and the tutorial. I love many old lovesongs. I play in lobbies where most of my listeners are mature, meditative individuals. i see them sing the lyrics to my instrumentals and gives back more happiness to me. The melody of this song is soulful that anyone would love to sing to. Thank you sir!
Fred, Good Job. Enjoyed very much. I'm older but still a Player, Instructor and Collector. I find I learn something from every Person who gives of their time to post on RUclips. Been Playing for 58 Years and sincerely appreciate all different styles. Keep up the good work, Brother!
Fred this has opened so many new doors for me! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your instruction. To the nay sayer "if his voice wierds you out don't partake"! Were busy making beautiful music!
Fred thanks so much for all of your great tutorials. You have opened up a lot for me on the guitar. Some of your techniques for grabbing the chords and allowing solos to be incorporated, just great. It has even helped me to figure out things to play on other songs that prior wouldn't have occurred to me. Your techniques are great for the singer / guitarist.
Great ability to teach a new trying to be guitar player. I checked a few tutorials but yours are outstanding. Thanks so much for teaching me a such a beautiful song. God bless you🙏🙏
great explanation that gives encouragement to ideas rather than rules. One of the few teachers who seems at home doing this. Although stated this lesson is aimed at beginners, one would have to be an exceptional beginner to feel confident enough to be able to follow this through with any sort of result. I think it would be fairer described as intermediate.
Oh my god almighty..... That was incredible. Hairs are standing on the back of my neck. I think it worked so well because you just sang so naturally and effortlessly. Any albums.....
The B diminished 7th chord, abbreviated as Bdim7 or B°7, has the notes B, D, F and A♭.The chord spelling / formula relative to the B major scale is: 1 b3 b5 bb7. (The notes of the B Major scale are B C# D# E F# G# A#. It's key signature has 5 sharps)
First time I have heard this tune and I really love it. I was able to follow the chords relatively easy, nice teaching style too. Also first I've seen those B diminished chords, they fit very well. Nice mellow sound!
one heck of an intelligent tutor. makes it soo easy to make one build up his or her confidence in learning jazz songs. May God keep him around for many many years to come. Amen
Thanks Fred...this exactly what I.m looking for...a nice version to SING and play my guitar. This song is my assignment in my "Everyone can Sing" Adult class---kind of a tough one...easy to sing out of key--lol Nice guitar arrangement. --Van
I love your presentation! You are a much better teacher than any of these other guys on this same song! Most of the younger guys really talk too fast and are not articulate ....I'm not saying that they are not good guitar players but I have a hard time following their explanation......
I'm a beginner. I really love this song but i couldn't figure out the strumming. It would be a lot of help if somebody would provide me specific strumming or some tips. Thank you.
Here’s a tip: It doesn’t have to be strummed exactly the same way Fred does. Try and copy what he does to learn, but the key here is to learn the chords and the melody. You can play the song with just a singe strum on each chord and as long as the melody notes are there it will sound fine.
You lose me somewhere around Minute eight. Pity. Well, I'll just have to come up with something easier. I think you should have explaned more about how to practice the different aspects and how to put them together in the end. Unfortuneately there aren't many advanced players up to the task, because being able to play is already second nature to them.
10 years later I’m still comin back to this video god bless you Fred
Me too. I pretty much started here and have progressed rather well in my orchestration/arraignment/voicing, but I like to touch base with the ground level. Fred is terrific.
Fred, Thanks very much for your great instructional arrangements. I'm 81 and have always learned from and enjoyed your teachings!

Very, very, very nice. Beautiful.
The quintessential musical experience with a professional musician... much more shared other than fingered cords to Autumn Leaves.
Thanks Fred. Love your stuff. And your uke books are the best there are.

Beautiful rendition, Fred, it was very moving. Thank you for singing it too, rather than an instrumental. Best wishes from London, England. :-) xx

Fred,
Your lessons are great, but I find that I can't make them louder. Is there anything you can do at your end?

Pretty good, Check out Eva Cassidys version. She basically does the same chord progression though w more intricacies. And a voice from heaven.
His guitar is a Franklin jumbo !!!
Love it. Can we use a D minor instead of D7? NT
its actually a minor seventh chord
Please begin by playing the result
shaking his head up and down to get those runs lol
Finally a guitar lesson i understand, no petty british accents getting in the way to my ears!
it's jazz music
smooth like truffles

Also complicated finger positions, tough.
I thought it was a great version of Hello by Lionel richie
