I'm 25 and this is about the coolest thing I've ever seen. I love Texas and I love this land. I wanted to attend Police Academy but I think Game Warden is the career path for me. Coming from a population 400 town I always loved my local Game Warden. Grew up with my Mom, taught me how to shoot guns safely, took me fishing and hunting. I really can't wait to get this chapter of my life started.

Respect to the game wardens. They protect the other resources taken for granted. There’s state troopers and there’s game wardens. Both have a wide range in jurisdictions and duties.

I am so inspired by this video. I am currently looking into a local college for a bachelor's in criminal justice, so I can be a TGW. I've been on the water and outdoors all my life and nothing suits me better than this. It was always my interest joining the army or the navy but GW never crossed my mind till a few months ago. I was off shore fishing and GW's pulled up asking for licenses etc.. idk something about it made me want to be just like them and I also love to protect our waters from trash, and over fishing. I cannot wait to start my classes to become a Texas Game Warden.

@challenge gamer this is true there are better ways that isn't so costly to vet applicants. Also they seriously need to increase there cadet numbers 40 every 6 months! There are to many people applying for this, the ratio is terrible its easier to get into Harvard. And to get into the academy you pretty much have to volunteer first in the Parks and Wildlife then work as an intern with the game wardens finish your degree then apply for the Academy do all that school full-time and working full-time volunteering and internship and pay for school and bill's stay out of debt is a bitch sure you can live off debt and do it but look what it is doing to us we are miserable.

Game Wardens on the border with Mexico routinely assist the USBP and all other federal, state and local agencies with general law enforcement duties. This could happen weekly and consists of everything from stopping illegal smuggling activities to enforcement of trespass statutes.

I do not have a bachelors degree "yet which I am working on"" but I am a honorably discharged and decorated combat veteran with military law enforcement experience which includes direct combat experience in Afghanistan and Iraq as a Military K9 Law Enforcement Officer. It's a shame that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will allow an individual with a piece of paper that states that he or she has a Bachelors degree to be accepted to the Academy even though he or she may have never handled a weapon, never had any law enforcement experience, never served in the military or never had any kind of life experience even remotely related to this career field yet someone like myself and other veterans are automatically disqualified because we have not finished our college degree. I will say this and I can directly attest that most veterans, particularly combat veterans are the most highly trained, highly disciplined most capable and physically fit and not to mention the most honorable and dedicated people our great country has to offer. I think the great State of Texas needs to reconsider this injustice and accept military experience as a direct qualification to enter the Academy.

I had no idea. I'll bet most people don't. Whoever is in charge of public relations, image, or information; marketing, - whatever - needs to step up their game. I suspect it is a case of this responsibility not being clearly stated as a performance parameter for a specific department, and everybody assumes that its somebody else's job. I'll bet there aren't even performance metrics in place for public awareness. Easy to fix, boys and girls ... And good PR is always good when budget and funding are the topic of conv..

OR Hmmm, stand between me and my purpose... I want this more than air, remember this is fate and I'll see you there..

I missed the part were they take an oath to the Texas Constitution and the U.S. Constitution .I guess they don't have to do that anymore. Maybe the one's in charge don't want them to feel guilty about stepping all over our rights. I wish them all well, but when you give a LEO the ok to search anyone's personal property, it will be abused over and above the ordinances intent.

How do I apply for the academy? I already have an online application on Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's NEOGOV web site, but there's no specific job listing for Game Warden that I can apply for.
