Dead Horse Ranch State Park has shade, ya'll! Shade, trails, large sites, views, three scenic lagoons and the Verde River flows through here. What a delightful little slice of Arizona. It is not far from Sedona and Red Rock Canyon State Park - bonus!

What we love about Dead Horse Ranch State Park:
    1. Large campsites, many are pull throughs, many with shade
    2. Trails, miles of trails here for hiking, biking, horse back riding, and dog walking
    3. Water! Verde River and the three lagoons
    4. Lots of day use areas for picnicking or fishing
    5. Cabins available, electric with heating and cooling, but no bathrooms and no cooking inside
    6. Verizon works well
    7. Close to Cottonwood, Arizona for supplies, restaurants
    8. Plenty to do nearby, Wineries, Red Rock State Park, Sedona, Tuzigoot National Monument, Coconino National Forest (dispersed camping)
    9. Beautiful Sunrises and sunsets and an amazing night sky
What we didn't love about Dead Horse Ranch State Park:
Nothing to add here. We had a great stay!

Great video! My wife and I wanted to take our camper there but couldn’t determine from the maps which sites would be the best. The video you and your wife made was perfect for us to see each campground and the sites. Thank You!

Thanks... always nice to have Gary's "Going Camping" intro. We left Verde Valley RV Resort just down the road yesterday. It was nice to see inside the state park. We often get let into parks without a fee for a quick look as we advise are scouting for future RV sites. Dead Horse did not. We did use the dog park down the road and it was nice. Yes, there is an abundance of beautiful places and activities in the area. Surprised you did not get to Jerome (at least not mentioned). There are weeks of trails and sites in Sedona. Including jeep trails for a return visit if you get that jeep.

Thank you! I think we forgot about Jerome as we were wrapping up. It was on our radar. We were busy everyday as it was! This area is packed with things to do! I noticed that a couple of hiking places in Sedona required a high clearance vehicle. That let me out. lol...for now anyway. Yes, we've gone into a park for a quick look. Some parks are ok with it and some are not. Happy travels! 😊👋

I thought the Quail Loop with all the trees was beautiful! So many trails and activities too. This would absolutely be my campground if I were visiting Sedona since it is reasonably priced and only 30 minutes away. Thanks, Gary and Sharon! Happy Trails! 🌈🏜😎

We really love the mesquite trees, they are everywhere there. It was so nice to have the shade. Yes, it makes a great base camp for Sedona. Happy Trails! 😊👋

So when your tent camping, where do you set your tent up at? On the cement?

We saw tents set up in the campsite areas. There's also a designated primitive tents only section. Below is a link to the website. You can call and ask the park any specific questions that you still have. azstateparks.com/dead-horse/camping-and-cabins/camping-at-dead-horse-ranch Happy camping! 😊👋
