I had heard much about this tiny eatery located in a bylane of old Mysuru, especially of its biryani that back in the day would be cooked over a wood-fired stove. And so when I received recommendations in response to a recent “where should I lunch in Mysuru” post, I lost no time in making tracks to Nasheman. The place is drab, and that’s putting it mildly, a handful of tables sit cheek by jowl in a modestly-sized room, and the service is industrial at best. But it is the mutton biryani here and other meaty delicacies, especially a delicious twice cooked mutton phaal that draw customers to this 50-year-old restaurant. In this outing, I tasted most of what was on offer for lunch, after an insightful kitchen tour.
Hope you find this episode enjoyable. Take care; stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

Karela is basically shanks, it braises beautifully when cooked in a Biryaani. Tastes heavenly, certainly the most sought after piece in any mutton dish
Hi Kripal, long time subscriber and first time commenting here. I am an NRI basically from Andhra but I have educational connection with Mandya. I am watching both of your channels for about 3 years. I see you traveling around Mandya many times but never any visits to any Mandya town eateries. I left Mandya about 30 years ago and waiting to see at least some eateries from your visits so I can reconnect with Mandya I left long ago. Needless to say I have lots of admiration for your work on both of your channels.
Initially, I misunderstood karela biriyani as preparation with bitter gourd 😂😂. Learnt something new, karela being part of meat
Same here
Me too understand in same way😂
Karela is mutton shank in English
Yes😂😂
Me too
The magician keeps bringing food to life....
Thank you. God bless

Watching this video from Frankfurt - Germany and my mouth is watering 😋
My mouth was watering like river Nile...
Good morning dear Kripal - As usual kudos to finding yet another gem in Nasheman . It’s been a 5 decade restaurant and surprised you missed out this one 😀 Karela ? I thought it stands for Bitter-gourd but was surprised when the chef took out a piece of meat which in no way resembled a Karela known to me 😀 Phaal , yet another new terminology. If it’s Kripal he has to understand the ingredients, process, secret recipe ( decodes to almost 90 % ) . This information provides a lot of insights to foodies like me and our viewers. Seems to be an extremely popular place . Love your humility when you share the table with patrons . Too good . Speaks volume about you as a person . That’s why we all love and respect you dear Chief 💯💯💯 Wow Spinach Daal as condiment for the “Karela” Biryani . Awesome spread of lunch on the table - Meat lovers delight . Ok now I got it ; Karela is the leg of the sheep 🐑. Even the slight hint of heat you are able to figure out that the dish has a wee bit of green chilli . Ha ha ha good one “ Biryani ka Nasha” . That’s a satiated feeling on your face after you finished your Karela Biryani . No wonder it’s their most popular dish . The Karela seems to be melt-in-mouth . Now time to figure out what is Phaal . Had to back to the kitchen part to what’s the Phaal ( whole sheep cut into various parts) . This no wonder would have elevated your Biryani taste profile . Something interesting to have vegetables in the Kheema . Good palate cleanser . The chicken texture seems thick and not too great I believe. The liver Masala would be a great combo with a mild Jeera rice . Oh wow I simply love watching the Masala of the Phaal . Would be great with Biryani 💯💯💯💯 Lamb chops finally and possibly a regular one in terms of taste profile . I agree a MUST try for any meat / mutton lover . This was a simply awesome Vlog . Will recommend it to my hard core carnivorous buddies 😀 Today my dad will Join for lunch . We have Rice , Chinna Vengayam Sambhar , Baby potato roast , vadam , Dahi Boondi ( different from Boondi Raita ) , Vermicilli Payasam . Thanks so much for this spectacular Vlog . Loads of love and respect to you , FL crew , especially our dear Cameraman ( Nitin ? ) 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Now off to lunch 😀
will reply next week

FYI Sir Nasheman actual meaning is nowhere close to "Nasha". It actually means Nest or resting place or residence.
I have visited Nasheman hotel, over hyped place, taste is okay but the quantity is very less. It's like you are paying 500rs for the food which is worth of 100rs ( even in top restaurant)
Looks soo delicious
Intersting vlog sir 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Welcome to chottogram.
Nadheman means residence, settling place and not Nasha, plz keep that in mind
Nasheman means house, home, bird's nest, etc
50 saal purana hotel hai na kaali mirchi ka salan banee ayega kya
Hi sir, fantastic what you show is very spectacular, but please we are into shravan time and not to think of these things,,(non veg)
If I consume anything because of you in pune, I think you should be blamed. 😂😂😂
I just want to share some points (that would be issues if people watching this recipes on smart TV's ) I cannot comment on, I cannot subscribe, or like and share.
Sir I am very much fan of your shooting, editing and the way you eat the food without messing your personality, in a eliqute way,
Some of the pros and cons , if you allow..
Pros:
Fantastic shooting covering location, ower the owners introductions.
The location/ kitchen where it actually gets prepared. The things that are gone into the makeing of the recipe.
History behind it.
Asking continuously why, where, how.
And of course if anything that you have not covered, you catch the ingredients while eating that's because of your great test buds..,,😄
Little about cons ( I have this privelage as a fan of yours.
The price of the dish you eat. (sometimes it is mentioned)
And the most one is what are the negative points, such as it may be very spicy, oily, cost effectiveness ,availability as sometimes i feel that you are in love with the food that neglates some minor negative points.
I have mentioned this just to add my review but what I see is, making me bycot my daily food that I am getting...😂😂
All to sum up, Fantastic, wonderful,
Sir.
Please continue to share such videos and just tell us how do you keep yourself fit, slim ..cause only by the watching your videos, I have gained some + weight 😂😂
Keep sharing, lots of love from a food lover ... Rajesh from Pune.
After seeing the video, we went to this hotel when we are in Mysore, very very bad experience the rice was not cooked at all and mutton kheema and chicken was worst. I don't recommend this hotel

It's not upto mark as he say in the video. Prices are too high.. and they are empty seats will greet you.. cleanliness is also not upto standards.
Too much time for discription
Nasheaman means home. Not nasha

Hi guys… i had biryani in this hotel… its not all good.. biryani was tasteless… n price was also too high compared to other good hotels of mysore… plz think thrice before gng to this hotel…
In the UK a Phaal is a stupidly hot curry that is all burn and has no flavour. It's designed to kill the person's tastebuds, it's a test, who can eat a Phaal! I was sure it was a British invention and had no connection to real Indian cuisine. Yet here it is! So please tell me, what is the Phaal you are eating? How was it prepared? I'm pretty sure it isn't like what we serve here because if it was you'd have been on fire, complained, and walked out.
This is the worst hotel and downvote for this videoas it's unhygenic, seeing the black walls in that hotel. I see @Unbox Karnataka which is doing fabulous work visiting food places around Karnataka.
No hygiene
This kind of hotels mixes spit in food Items...
Just hipe biryani is not good it's a normal biryani without hygiene.
Very bad experience sir😅
300rs mutton biryani😂
No hygiene!! It’s okay for one time and those who don’t care about cleanliness besides it’s not cheap as well!!
Uff...beefy 😤
Food not good and not hygiene. Please don't entertain 😢😢😢😂
please dont speak with food in your mouth
Jealous of you
I travel from Mandya to this hotel just to eat Hot mutton biryani with leg piece and dry mutton chops....😊
Topi walleeeeeee......lossing your credibility.....dont suggest places like this
