Ya, this is a great example of how the best BABYMETAL songs are made up of the music, the vocals, the choreo, *and the audience*. When all 4 elements hit together the whole room gets completely elevated. When they finish a show by chanting 'We Are BABYMETAL!' they mean it...the crowd has a key role to play in the spectacle that is BABYMETAL.
Great reaction. 'Headbanger' is a song about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also about growing up. It is not autobiographical, Su was still only 14 when they recorded the song in 2012. In Japan compulsory education ends at 15 so the girl is realising life will never be the same, she will no longer be considered as a child and her first 15 years passed by so quickly - so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. They use 'Headbanger' for special birthday performances. In 2014 at concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals half way through the song when Su handed them the mic and stand and took their place in the choreo. Only fancam video for these performances exist. With 20 being the official age of majority in Japan, so they become an adult, in 2019 Moa took over lead vocals again at Legend M celebrating her 20th - with a change of lyric to "this special night of my 20th" - for MoaBanger. Momometal was not an official member on her 20th birthday so at Legend MM we got MomoBanger on the final day of her being 20, the day before her 21st.
The band feels that a song is complete only when there is an audience. They feel a studio recording is incomplete. It is all about becoming one during a performance, that's fuels this group. They have a unique stage presence.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 Even though Su has a beautiful soprano voice, I love that she sings a lot of this one in a lower register. That always sounds great. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits, and is really a BABYMETAL classic. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when this was first recorded. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was performing on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts, like the girl in the song. : ) Not sure what to suggest next. Of course you've reacted to 'Rondo of Nightmare' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow', but I don't see the other two solo songs from Su, 'Akatsuki' and 'Amore'. And Yui and Moa did four songs as "Black BABYMETAL" without Su. You've done 'Sis. Anger', but they also did 'Onedari Daisakusen', '4 no Uta' (Song 4) and 'GJ!'. Of course some of these may have been blocked.
Great reaction ... and here you can see exactly what the choreo is designed and intended for. They are leading the crowd, giving everybody their cue to jump, pump their fists, chant and become part of the performance and to become one as 'The ONE'.🦊 I don't see or hear anything whimsical in Yui's and Moa's Hedoban Hedoban at the start - that is just an essential part of the song and everybody in the crowd will be joining in and most will be doing the same sideways headbang.🤘
I think he meant Su's opening and then Her part in the slow down again in the middle. He just didn't care for Yui and Moa's "repetitive" Hedoban at the start.
@@mikepowers9486 You may be right, I understood the first to mention 'whimsical' probably was talking about Su's part, it was the second talking about it being repetitive that had me thinking he meant Yui's and Moa's Hedobans.
This performance really shows how essential Moa, Yui and Momo are, to link with and lead the crowd. Su and the Kami band are 10/10 by themselves, with Moa and Yui and Momo they dial it up to 11. It's sheer fuckin' magic 😎
Fun fact about this song is that each member has sang this song when they have their 20th birthday they get to sing the solo part towards the end and each member has put their own twist to this song
Nice reaction! Now you know why we flooded the comment section with this recommendation😉 I was introduced to BABYMETAL with this performance, and I immediately jumped into the Fox Hole to never ever leave it again. I personally experienced a live performance of this song in the meantime (Nov 2023), and it is THE banger. The whole crowd was so into this! Greatness!🤘🦊🤘
I love going old school with the original Trinity. These girls gave so much to us at such an early age. Look at them.... they are fearless and confident. And yet they continue to deliver new content to this day!!!!
Welcome back guys, and great reaction! From Su's 16th Birthday concert in 2013...my 16th Birthday was a yawn in comparison! As always, looking forward to the next one...and can't wait to see a reaction to "Night, Night Burn"!
Nice one fellas, I for one love the whimsical elements mixed with the heavy. One of Babymetal’s biggest draw for me! If I wanted to feel something dark, serious, or gloomy, I’ll listen to something else. But a lot of times, I want the heavy, but also wanna have a good time. This is where Babymetal shines, and always delivers! You gotta do Momometal’s 21st BDay special of this song, “Momobanger” from Legend MM this year! 🤘🦊
I am shocked you haven't seen this already? This isn't a reup? You should also check out when Moa takes over vocals on her 20th bday show known lovingly as Moa Bangerrrrrr and also the Momo's version for her Bday also known as Momo Bangerrrrr. Sooooooo Night Night Burn is when? 🤘🦊🤘
HEadBanger finally! Now you are fully prepared to see all the versions of one of BabyMetal's most iconic songs. I recommend following this order: 1 - Headbanger Night of 15 MIX + AVE Maria Intro (No spoilers, just NEED watch this one). 2 - The Original music video. 3 - YuiBanger (Maybe not the best performance of this song, but the most special because Yui is the protagonist 🍅). 4 - MoaBanger (Moa is Moa, I don't need to say anything else 💘) 5 - MomoBanger (The icing on the cake, MomoZilla delights us with something special...🍑)
This was at the legend 1997 concert, celebrating Su's 16th birthday in December 2013. Have you seen the finale yet. Babymetal Death? That's a birthday party and a half! 😂 If you look closely when Su is climbing the steps to the gong at the end you can see the bass player, Boh, has "Happy Birthday" written on his bald head.
At 7:10 you can see boh the base player has happy birthday written on his head for su-metals 16th birthday. Now do moa-banger, yui-banger and momo-banger. In the last one at legend-mm you must the the full version where momo comes down on a small pink stage frome the top of the stadium
Can't wait to enjoy this song live at Brazil and hopefully more solo shows around during South American Tour. Getting ready for dogeza hedoban -NotACult- 🦊🤘🛐
Whats whimsical about Yui and Moa singing headbang while dancing and headbanging? Catchy, cute, cool which is a big part of what Babymetal is about. You take all that out of their music then youre just getting more of the same from other music and its not even Babymetal anymore.
Thank you for finally summing up the word I’ve been looking for to describe this band!SPECTACLE!!!! I’m 66 and have a wide range of musical tastes but these kids are like nothing I’ve ever seen or heard. Glad I kept my open mind all these years. Great reaction guys! I’m subscribed!
I think it's because they are performers, artists and entertainers more than they are 'rock stars'. They are metal queens, but there's no ego in them, they are the polar opposite of posers, which is ironic for an idol group. Having no social media presence was one big thing that set them apart from typical idols before them. It allowed them to be normal people when they are out of costume, and not 'celebs' when they are onstage, which is probably why they seem so focused and happy. They still feel like they are a new, mysterious and unpredictable group even after 14 years.
I will disagree only in the slightest. Arkadia Legend MM 2024. The performance is perfection itself. At the end the ladies all look at each other with an expression of joyous recognition of just how awesome they are. Then they run out to center stage just basking in and sharing the mutual joy of everyone in that hall. Every time I watch that performance-when they're on center stage and the crowd is ebullient. In my mind what just naturally occurs is the recognition-in the best possible way-of what rock stars they actually are.
@@robote7679 I see what you are saying and they definitely feed off the crowd and know when they are loved. But unlike a lot of typical Rock Stars, you just know when they are off stage and just being Suzuka, Moa, and Momoko, they aren't running around acting like everyone should know them, or saying "do you know who I am?" To cut lines, or do things the peasants can't do :) 🤘🦊🤘
This is the first of the fnal three songs of the concert. "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" Suu is reaching the end of her childhood. Followed by Akatsuki (unfinished vesion), and the finale "Babymetal Death" where she leaves behind her life (as an idol) and arises as the Queen of Metal.
There is a Moabanger, Momobanger, Yuibanger. The performance you reacted was pretty old. They have adapted certain parts as they are getting older. Also, you actually said this and you probably didn't know this. But Babymetal fans are known as "The One", in Babymetal lore as dubbed by Babymetal as well as there song "The One."

Hahaha, impressed? This was 'merely' the Legend 1997 version, which took place 11 years ago (Dec 2013) & itself only some 1.5 years after BM first debuted it live. They would go on to perform it with new dimensions & significance over the next decade. Basically, the song was initially released as an indie single (Jul 2012) when BM was still part of Sakura Gakuin, before they were hived off & got their own record contract (early 2013). In between, BM was starting to headline their own small gigs, namely the three 'I,D,Z ~ Legend' shows, the four 'Death Match Tour 2013' mini tour, plus 'Legend 1999' (which marked Moa/Yui's 14th birthdays). On the other hand, the more intimate venues (1,000 to 3,500 sized) allowed BM to build amazing rapport with their fledging fanbase, particularly in audience engagement & crowd participation. The evolution of their live shows were all filmed for prosperity, & RUclips has the old clips incrementally showing how Headbanger developed into an astonishing spectacle: i.e. the Sakura Gakuin Road to Graduation 2012 version (Su's convocation), Legend I 2012 version (first-ever Kami Band appearance), Legend D 2012's Night Of 15 Mix version (aka the first would-be 'Su-banger', with the Babybones dancers lifting her up to dramatize the lyrics about turning 15 years old), the Legend Z version (Kami Band intro), the Legend 1999 version (Moa/Yui gleefully premiered spraying the CO2 fog guns). Towards the end of this period, BM would release their first studio album, & also Megitsune as a single. The latter, together with IDZ & Headbanger, gave them three standout anthemic hits (without counting Gimme Chocolate as yet) & drawing invites to bigger music festivals throughout 2013 (Summer Sonic, Inazuma Rock Festival, Loud Park, Act Against Aids, Countdown Japan 13/14), significantly raising their national profile & appearing on the international radar. This was the underlying context for Legend 1997, where BM triumphantly headlined a 9,000-sized show on their own for the first time. They would go on to sell out consecutive 10,000-sized shows barely two months later (the Red Night/Black Night Budokan 2014 gigs), & then abruptly moved on to a completely different & very daunting challenge (overseas mainstream metal). The initial 2014 European leg would kick off with Yui (at La Cigale in France) & Moa (at Cologne in Germany) each getting to sing Headbanger co-lead with Su to mark their 15th birthdays, aka the 'Yuibanger' & the first 'Moabanger' versions respectively, thereby adding a new live quirk to the song. However, the real Headbanger makeover took place at Legend S Baptism XX (2017), with Su changing the lyrics (from 15th to 20th birthday) to mark her 20th, the Kamis extending the 'hedoban' instrumental break, & the audience more coordinated in reenacting the 'we're not worthy' ritual. Unfortunately, this 'Su-banger' attempt never got a chance at going viral either since that was the gig Yui missed (& would never perform with BM again) & all RUclips uploads were suppressed (so newer fans never got to see the strange sight of Moa gallantly performing the choreography alone all show). Fortunately, the Moabanger 2019 (Legend M at Portmesse Nagoya) & Momobanger 2024 (Legend MM at Yokohama Arena) versions, with the updated lyrics to mark their respective 20th birthdays, would make up for the lost impact later & showcase again how unique the Team Babymetal live experience could be.
Headbanger is a foxhole unto itself Now you got to watch the dubstep remix, the compilation video that shows the different stages they performed on and the crowd reaction is even better, Then the Moa, the Yui, and the Momo bangers where the girls take the lead on their birthdays
Well now that you've seen Su's version, you have two other pro-shot versions of this song to react to. Both which have their own little twists to them. Moabanger for Moa's version (Available on K.S.'s channel) and Momoko's ver. for Momo's version (Available on For The Fox God's channel)
Nice reaction :) Headbanger from this show is the performance that got me into BabyMetal. Not to go off on a tangent, (But I'm going to anyway) have you ever heard of The Warning? It's three sisters who formed a power trio and they really know how to rock. The drummer won an award for best rock drummer last year (she also sings lead on some songs) and just today they were announced as the #1 up and coming rock band on billboard. I couldn't be more proud of them. Like BabyMetal they're best live. May I suggest Evolve, Disciple and Six Feet Deep to get you started. After that The Warning Army will show up and you'll have a ton of requests. Have a good one and keep rockin!
i like the song headbanger a bit more, but BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) is an even better live performance. for my money, it's the best live performance on youtube of any band, any genre. i just checked and see you guys already reacted to the song, but not that particular performance.

You need to watch this entire concert, it's amazing. Sue get crucified! nice reaction!!!

I'm surprised you hadn't done this one yet.

i like the song headbanger a bit more, but BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) is an even better live performance. for my money, it's the best live performance on youtube of any band, any genre. i just checked and see you guys already reacted to the song, but not that particular performance.
🤘🦊🤘
Try to watch headbanger in legend metal galaxy live in japan day 2
