Wassup everyone, I just want to make it clear this song was a request from my last video where I reacted to the colab on the Electric Callboy song. I’m not purposely coming on here to hate on the band that is not my intention at all. I come on here to do honest reactions and give my own opinions. Hopefully this clears a few things up! The reason I started this channel is to learn about metal and really get to know the bands I’m listening to so I’m still learning. Really appreciate the support on the video 👀
Regarding their vocals: If you want them to do these godawful cookie-monster-type vocals, you will be indefinitely disappointed. At least if it's that what you inherently expect from a metal band...
they are japanese "Idol", but instead of singing "pop" song dancing/twerking with show a lot of skin costumes, they sing to a heavy metal music without showing anything but pure talent (singing & dancing).. thats pretty much it for now I'm sure a lot of other fans will give you suggestions and informations btw their musics is top tier world class imho
The guitar lines in this song were written for BabyMetal by Herman Li & Sam Totman of DragonForce, and they did the guitar work for this song on the BabyMetal album. BabyMetal performed this song on stage with DragonForce at the 2015 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards Show in London. They have also performed live with Rob Halford, Bring Me The Horizon, Tom Morello, and Brian Welch of Korn. They have toured with Sabaton and opened for Metallica, among many others. But there’s no need for anyone to change the game for you. Nobody cares if they’re not for you. That’s your loss. Don’t force yourself. Just stick to the standard worn-out metal formula that you can understand.
For me the liking or disliking the performances in question has to do with each one's ability to perceive and enjoy beyond stereotypes, as well as "out of the box". The future of music or that of Babymetal will not be jeopardized by the endorsement or approval of the current or any reactor to their product. As Sumetal said on an early interview is we are not doing Heavy Metal we are Kawai Metal (our own gender), we sing songs for young girls and their worries introducing them to Metal music. But as life always does, after throwing at you all kinds of curveballs and problems, the girls matured, the music matured, the themes got bigger and more serious, without abolishing the initial target. And we ended up with something unique, something precious, something wonderful. It is for us who can enjoy it, to support and protect it ..... and Nothing Else Matters. 👍👍👏👏👏
How to pick the perfect Babymetal song for those that are irked by the vocal style? Here's the thing, Babymetal does every genre of music you can think of and mixes it with metal. So far you've seen their collab "dancey metal fusion" with Electric Callboy. Now you've seen their Power Metal "DragonForcey" song (they have a couple of others like this). But have you seen their "Thrashy" Ijime Dame Zettai? Or how about some Progressive Metal, like Diving Attack or "Dream Theatre" like Tales of The Destinies. Perhaps some Nü metal like Karate or Onidari Daisakusen. Ska Metal? Sure, try YAVA! Indian Bollywood metal? Shanti Shanti Shanti. Trap rap? Yes...Trap Rap...try BxMxC. Traditional Japanese folk metal? Megitsune. Japanese festival metal? METALI. Gothic metal? Rondo Of Nightmare. Death Metal march? Try BABYMETAL DEATH. Epic Anthems? The trilogy of lights, Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia. Babymetal is not a metal "band". They are a Japanese Idol performance group set to metal music. It's NOT a band. The ACTUAL band behind them are just session musicians known as The Kami Band. KNOWN session musicians ( both Japanese and Western musicians), but session musicians nonetheless. The lyrical content ranges from uplifting and empowering, to just plain fun and silly. It's "Feel Good" metal. Not aggressive "scream in your face" angst, emo, angry, sweaty bearded male ego music. It's not for gatekeepers. It's made to make metal more accessible to those who are not familiar with metal or perhaps are turned off by that gruff sweaty image metal usually portrays. It's also a gateway for those hardcore metalheads to let go of their aggression and just have some fun with new explorations into what metal music can be. So let go a little. Babymetal (ベビメタル) is a play on the words Heavy Metal in Japanese (ヘビーメタル) and to go with their convoluted lore, the "birth" of a new genre of metal. This video was when they were between the ages of 15 and 17. They started when they were 10 and 11 years old, and are now in their mid twenties. Want something more... Mature? Since you're a rap fan, try BxMxC. It will give you a different viewpoint of her vocal style.
Good honest reaction. I'll be honest too, I put off watching your reaction and waited to see what was being said in the comments first. I will just add a couple of thoughts, but among some other comments I think Ganimal83 has summed up a lot of what I was thinking to say. Couple of things I will add ... we may well describe them as one of the best live acts (I saw some of the greatest and most recognised legendary live bands in their prime - I was never better entertained by any of them than I was when I saw BABYMETAL live), but I don't think BABYMETAL fans (with maybe one or two exceptions prone to exaggeration) describe them as "the best metal band in the world". They may be our own favourite, some of us may feel they are the best thing to happen to metal in 20 years, but we leave the hyperbole of claiming there has never been a better band, better musicians (they even play their own instruments) and so on to the fans of a couple of other bands. BABYMETAL are a band which, if they don't click immediately, take some getting used to because they are so different and because they mix things together that your ear has to get used to being mixed. They blend sounds and styles that nobody else blends - it may just not seem right the first few times you hear it. For a lot of people that might take 3 or 4 songs. I have watched a lot of people go through that process and some of them (who absolutely hated the first thing they heard) have become the biggest fans, some even going to the effort of flying to Japan just to see them play live in one of their arena concerts. Obviously that doesn't always happen and there are some who just never got it ... and that is fine, we can't all like the same things and we all like or dislike different sounds, music, styles etc. I would count this as your first BABYMETAL song. I wonder if it will click for you after another two or three songs ... maybe it will, maybe it won't. I will just say don't go in expecting to hear them doing what virtually every other band does or doing things the same way as all those other bands. BABYMETAL are their own thing. Personally I love Su-metal's vocals, she is easily my favourite vocalist. I am not a big fan of screamo and what sounds like people vomiting into their mic. It is OK in very small doses and where there is context, but I had all but given up on metal after three of four decades of enjoying it because that became the norm, there was no melody, every new band was sounding alike, nothing new or original, all seemingly trying to sound more angry or more evil than each other ... I grew out of that years ago. BABYMETAL brought me back with great songs, great instrumentals, great melodies and a smile in their music and performances. Oh, I'm sure it has been said already - the similarity in the guitars you were hearing was DragonForce and 'Through The Fire And Flames'. Herman Li and Sam Totman did the guitar arrangements for this song (it was the only one they were involved in) and even played for the studio recording. This concert was all Kami Band instrumentals from Leda Cygnus, Takayoshi Ohmura, BOH and Hideki Aoyama.
Karate at Download is the song that locked me up. But it was my fourth song and I liked the others. Their voices won't change to your ear. They're Japanese Idols. With more than half a lifetime of training and experience. And that's the way Idols sing. If you listened enough your ear would become accustomed and you would hear intricacies. But you still might not like it. I would suggest a different route. See if they can lock you in emotionally. See if they can make your big brother love come out. Try their first song. Doki Doki Morning official MV. Then you'll see why they're called Babymetal. They did make a backstory later that people will quote you. And it's cute enough.
I've heard people saying they don't like the girly/childish vocals before. Let's address the vocal topic properly and see if it is the high-pitched tone what is holding you back: here's the piano version of Monochrome (not my favorite but the full version of this song is in my personal top 10 songs from Babymetal) where we can clearly appreciate the vocal control of Sumetal but as an grown-up woman and her voice already matured ruclips.net/video/h-hPGRSjgms/видео.htmlsi=qIu1vZnqRqC976sj
Welcome back to Babymetal! I appreciate you giving them a fair shake, and it’s okay if you don’t end up liking them, as long as you remain respectful! *To answer your questions from the video:* 1). “Guitars sound familiar”: This song was created in the style of Dragonforce, and Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce played the guitars for the studio recording. 2). Babymetal’s name is a pun: ヘビーメタル: Hebīmetaru (Heavymetal) ベビーメタル: Bebīmetaru (Babymetal) Supposed to mean the “birth” of a new style of metal. 3). Lead Su-metal is 17 here, and Yui & Moa are 15. This show was Jan 2015, and the Live Debut of Road of Resistance (in Japan). Original Live Debut of the song was end of 2014 in London at the O2 Academy Brixton. *As for why you didn’t like the vocals? You should ask yourself:* 1). Do you feel awkward enjoying a couple of teeny boppers do metal? Even though your soul wants to like it? _If that’s the reason, then 🤷♂️. All I can say is (for myself) that I don’t GAF what others think 🤣👌._ 2). Or, are their voices just a bit too “child-like” here for you? _If that’s your reason, then check out their recent stuff, when they’re in their mid-20s, with a bit more mature vocals and content. They’ve replaced the early day “child-like” adorableness juxtaposed to brutal music with a “young adult sass and attitude”._ *Suggestion, and some of my favorites:* _Metali (Official Live):_ Groovy and bouncy festival song. Performance from Nov 2023. _Syncopation (Official Live):_ A great blend of pop + metal, in a more mature fashion, with some insane guitar riffs and drums. Performance from Apr 2024. Both of these should be available on Babymetal’s official channel. 🤘🦊
@@The-Mist-Wolf Relax, I was just trying to add some humor while conveying a point. And Babymetal's earlier works shouldn't be discounted, as they have a unique charm to them, even though I like their newer stuff more.
@@Ganimal83 It should be discounted, because if my first impression of them was them being children with those high pitched voices, and not Ratatata, I would have rejected them outright.
@@The-Mist-Wolf I hear ya, and I agree for certain folks, it's better to get them started on Babymetal's recent works. But, for many, their earlier works are equally amazing, just with a different vibe. By the same token, one shouldn't discount Electric Callboy's history before Nico, or Bring Me The Horizon's earlier works before they made a shift in style. The same goes for Babymetal.
@@Ganimal83 I will never like their performances, or recordings from when they are children. The voices are... annoying, to say the least. It's not the music, it's the squeaky children voices.
You wanna a game changer? Ok here we go, but don't say we didn't warn you: - *Babymetal Death* live at Legend 1997 (2013) with the intro. Just remember that we are -NotACult- 🦊🤘💀
I don't know, Jake: I think this guy made up mind after hearing the name of the group, their ethnic background, or that it was three teenage girls "trying" to do metal. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong. Hell, I'll admit that I think BABYMETAL is shit-hot but they do have a few tracks that I don't think are very good at all. But it seems to me that he had already made up his mind LONG before hearing any of their music. 🤘🦊🤘
@@Filboid2000 He can't cross the line with this one criticizing the girls, they don't sing here and they're doing an outstanding theatrical act not even the hardcore metal elitist can't deny unless you're a religious sensitive. Let's see what's happen.🦊👍
The best thing about Babymetal is their music is so diverse but that also makes it harder to know the perfect song to recommend to someone who is still trying to discover them. If you're looking for a great live performance with crowd interaction then this is a good bet. If the "girly" vocals are turning you off then try something more recent. This performance was from January 2015 when the girls were 15 & 17 and still in High School (actually Yui and Moa were just a few months away from graduating Middle School). If you want to see another great live performance with crowd interaction but that is more recent, you can't go wrong with Monochrome Live in PIA Arena 2023. If you want to see more of their live band I'd recommend Kagerou with Kami band intro. If you think Babymetal aren't heavy enough for you then watch their BxMxC Budokan 2021 live. If you want to see something completely different then anything else then check out From Dusk Till Dawn Budokan 2021 live. If it's just their dancing that is not your cup of tea then Metal Kingdom will still give you goosebumps even without the choreography just from Su's voice alone. I could go on but I think I've made my point!
Dude likes all the things he’s heard before, from other musicians and bands, but as soon as three teenage girls start singing he’s unhappy. This is a situation where a man’s closed mind works hard to defend its expectations, whilst simultaneously ignoring the enormous talent and creativity on display, not to mention the terrific audience engagement. Fortunately, the rest of the music world gets it. He can keep his desire for the predictable.
tbh they're about more than just the music - they put on a whole show/performance with many different elements - and they're a LIVE group with an insanely diverse (in a good way.....) set of tracks - they're always wildly different. They're also pretty much unsurpassed with their crowd participation/interaction. I DO have to say I don't really listen to them so much as watch them. As for age - they started this group at ages 11-13 (give them SOME credit - they work insanely hard :P). At this stage they were still playing the "cute" angle (considering their age it's logical) - but it changes
Don’t worry if you don’t like BABYMETAL. It took me three years before I started liking them. For some of us I guess it’s an acquired taste. I love their music now.
Headbanger live... Is best song babymetal for me! Set List all in lives: Headbanger legend 1997, Megtsune, Rondo of Nightmare, Pa pa ya, Kingslayer, Gimme chocolate, Metal kingdom, Monochome, Ratatata MV, Karate, Road of resistance, Brand new day, Leave at all behind MV, 🦊🤘🔥
That day UK fell in love with BABYMETAL❤ BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.htmlsi=dFGjrJnTjCNTYAWl Please try it!
You’re blocked on what the vocals “should” be. Forget that and just go with it! Su has an amazing voice for metal because it just cuts through. They are widely respected by the greats of metal and are now indeed part of that group.
Seen them live several times. Two nights on 2016 at Tokyo Dome. Definitely one of the best live acts on the planet! 55,000 sold out both nights - EPIC! If this is not to you taste, try these; Tales of the Destinies. Live From Dusk til Dawn. Live. Karate - MV Enjoy 🤟🏻🤟🏻
This song was arranged by Dragon Force for them. They had a bit of History behind them. DragonForce smuggled Babymetal into the Download Festival after they tried to play games with them. They tried to claim that Babymetal was no metal Band but a Gimick. And you have to consider that they were made with a purpose in mind. The japanedr .egal industry was stale. They had their old Highlights and ageing Fans but no young blood. And they were Kobas way to get young blood, especially Girls into metal. This was their Single purpose. He had no idea and no interest in potential success in the US and Europe. They only saw it worked very Well for them. They earned more Money outside of Japan than any other japanese Group. And look at the japanese metal scene today. A lot of female Bands. In the past totally unthinkable. And a lot of them has Babymetal in their past. That is the reason why Koba is nowadays so relaxed. They are Legends. If they would have worn cat ears, they would have been grilled. But knowadays : cute i have ro get these. A more fitting song? I am not so sure. Perhaps Monochrome.
When this tune (tentatively called "The One") was performed for the first time on 2014 Nov. 8th (in London), many people thought it was written by DragonForce (a British power metal band) because it resembled DragonForce's tunes too much. The fact, however, is that Sam TOTMAN & Herman LI, the guitarists of DragonForce, took part in the studio recording of this tune. According Herman's interview in 2015 June by Scuzz TV, Sam & Herman wrote (= arranged) the guitar parts (appended on 2015 Aug. 29, thanks to Dean san on 2015 Aug. 3). The music and the lyrics of this song are typical of the theme songs of Japanese battle animes (i.e. they resemble DragonForce's songs). Someone said this song might have something to do with a famous Japanese manga & anime "進撃の巨人" (Shingeki no Kyojin; Attack on Titan), but it seems wrong for now. Someone said this lyric is too straightforward as BABYMETAL's song (e.g. "IJIME, DAME, ZETTAI" has a kind of comical taste in Yui&Moa's chants)
As a few others have already said, it sometimes takes a few songs in order to really get into them and it is possible you may never get into them, which as long as you're respectful and give them a fair shot, fans won't be harsh on you. Vocally, songs of theirs can be similar but they also have so many that sound different just because they do so many styles. You'll have many different requests, I would say though you should do a double reaction to Monochrome Live @ PIA Arena and The First Take version. As it shows a mature voice for Su-Metal and highlights how vocally talented she is.
Video is paused too finely Can you calmly watch a video that others have paused too finely? If you want to talk, talk all together. If you pause the video, rewind it a bit and play it back. Be respectful of the artist, lyrics, and song.
This is my favorite song when it is live. If it's studio versions only then my favorite song is Megitsune. When I first saw one of there videos I was shocked. Watching 3 young Japanese pop idols singing and dancing in tutu's. I mean, wtf is this was my initial thoughts. Five years later they are in my top 3 bands along with Nightwish and Jinjer. I only found all 3 because of people doing reactions like you are. It's a shame that in America, where I am from we only get what mainstream radio station want us to like. This band also paced the way for a bunch of great Japanese female hard rock and metal bands. Japan has some of the best metal bands in the world now. Yes, I think they got their name because they were extremely young. I think Su is 16 here and Yui and Moa are 14 or 15. It's pop singing in front of a metal band. I think that's whatvyou are having a hard time with I just said to myself" well fuck it. Idc. I like it "when I was confused when I first saw it.
Oi Mate! Have a Listen to Babymetal songs: RONDO OF NIGHTMARE, BABYMETAL DEATH, MEGITSUNE. Also realize the girls singing are anywhere from roughly 14 - 16 yrs old. That is really impressive given their age, & also their choreography is dead spot on. They are also a new genre mix of Kawaii Metal = (Cute Metal). The Musicians are literally Pro Veteran, contracted, hired, Studio/Live Guns. They are some of The Very Best Musicians in Japan! Cheers!
I just started watching the reaction, I don't know what your opinion was but hey, listen to Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischief of the Gods Intro) live at Budokan, you'll see. It was strange to me at first but damn, Babymetal is actually amazing.
Good and honest reaction, appreciated. It is difficult for the Western metalhead to understand what he is really seeing. I'll try to give some notes to see if I can at least clarify something for you. First: you are not watching a heavy metal band, at least not a traditional one. Babymetal are Idols, born from a larger Jpop subgroup called Sakura Gakuin, where they were subdivided into small groups and one of them was "the metal club" where they experimented with the fusion of Pop and Metal. I guess what bothers you is the pop influence and it's understandable. Second: I sincerely believe that neither you nor I, who am already over 50 years old, were the target audience for BabyMetal's music, although they personally caught me from the beginning. Their audience, I think, was young people, mainly girls, who liked pop, but were "scared" of metal. They created a group of fans who otherwise would not have approached metal, regenerating a market that was exhausted. In Japan metal was in decline. Being a group of idols, they have had access to places and television programs that other more traditional bands would have found very difficult, if not impossible. Third: their fan base is... to put it mildly, and I include myself, different. Known collectively as "the one" and individually as "kitsunes (foxes)" we are probably one of the most active fan bases at the moment. I remember that when Metal Hammer, a well-known Metal magazine, did a survey on the most influential bands in the history of heavy metal, we put our girls in the top 10... Furthermore, the relationship between the fandom and the girls is very close, even making a song dedicated to us, called "the One" that I recommend ruclips.net/video/TZRvO0S-TLU/видео.htmlsi=es9wmk_KqFjcnT1p Fourth: they are currently the most influential Japanese metal group in Japan and one of the ones that have come the furthest in the world. I'm not talking about better or anything like that, than colors for taste, but about influence. I don't know if what I've given you will be of any use to you. I hope so. Although if not, I thank you for at least reading me.
Think you may need to check out older BabyMetal . They are teenagers in this song , so vocals may not be for you . I love Su's vocals. Any age Listen carefully the way she sings little things she does you might miss, like how she ends a note or extends a note. You can understand every word she says her pronounaceation, even in Japanese and with subtitles. You can see which word she is singing and has just got even better with maturity. Surrgest Monochrome PIA Arena 2023 live or Mirror Mirror same show . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
If you like guitar I would suggest "Metali" feat. Tom Morello, from the last album good heavy songs are also "Mirror Mirror" and "Metalizm". There were a lot of collabs coming out recently that are great too. I heard somewhere the name Babymetal is a joke on japanese pronunciation of heavy metal. In the video girls are: Su 18, Moa and Yui 16. Now, Su is 27, Moa 25 and Momo 21 (new member since last year, she does growls now 😊). They started this when girls were 12 and 10, such a long wonderful journey it is ❤. Saw them live twice, going 3rd time next year. 🦊🤘🏻
I think this reaction is a perfect example of why Babymetal is a tough act to get into for some people and that's totally ok. I know fans tend to get defensive or start recommending songs but I think there's no point. I can totally see where he's coming from, the metal instrumentation with their vocals and style is such a weird contrast that's definitely not for everyone. He may like other songs if he tries, or not and that's ok :) *Edit: Forgot to add that while I don't think any particular song will change your view, one personal favorite is Rondo of Nightmare live, where the Kami band gets to showcase and Su's vocals fit perfectly the somber and heavy tone of the song with minimal coreography, if that distracts you.
i dont mind whether or not somebody likes babymetal! everyone has their own preferences. the only thing that bothers me is when others disrespect babymetal and how hard they work. they have been out there busting their asses for almost 15 years. incorporating a wide variety of genres and refining and expanding their own. so yeah, to each their own. as long as they arent rude and hateful 😊 im glad you expressed your honest opinion, and did so respectfully. thats all i want
Late to the party here, but based on your reaction, I’d recommend some of their newer stuff like Metal Kingdom, Syncopation, and Metalizim for easier introductions to their vocal sound with less of the cutesy/kawaii aspect. I’ll admit, I had a similar reaction to their stuff as you did after hearing Gimme Chocolate way back in the day. That being said… Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan Black Night) is still my favorite. Absolutely haunting beauty right there, and it’s what really convinced me to give BABYMETAL another shot.
Well… that and the sheer theatrical insanity of BABYMETAL Death, but that showcases their theatricality and really leaves out most of the vocal elements.
You might like the newer album (The Other One, 2023) as Su's voice matured, her turning 27 this year. A few songs from it are Distortion, Divine Attack, Monochrome, and Metal Kingdom, which personally are all my favorites lol.. There are also four songs with English versions: Believing (also from 2023 album), From Dusk Till Dawn (although in English, subtitles still recommended lol), The One, and Elevator Girl. Also the song Mirror Mirror is mostly English but still good... I'm sure you'll get an overload of info in the comments here from the fan base known as The Ones (the same titled song written for the fans appreciation, in Japanese and English versions) so good luck reading through it all... Also, subtitles recommended on all videos, as pretty much most of the songs have meaning, Road of Resistance being about breaking down barriers of language and bringing people of differences together... Hopefully this has helped in some way... Also just want to throw in there, the song BxMxC (BabyMetalCypher) Su learned to rap specifically for this song, which the official music video and live performance are both awesome...
I got sick of grunt metal, so I found the clean vocals refreshing. I grew up with Iron Maiden, so I appreciate a cleaner vocal sound. The singer started out doing Anime singing, so it fits the style.
I am glad you mentioned that metal used to have actual singers, people now days think that metal always had unclean vocals and that was what made it metal, metal was always about not conforming to the status quo now it just seems to be about a generic image that every band must conform to or the gatekeepers will write you off
I feel like it´s the "cutsie japanese" parts that you have a harder time getting over and it took some time for me as well. I would recommend their song BxMxC (Live) as it´s a lot less "cutsie" and a lot more chugs. If you want some AMAZING guitar work with solos, breakdowns and great riffs I also recommend Syncopation (Live). It´s really underrated but is usually on peoples top 3 BABYMETAL song when they´ve heard it once.
Thanks for coming back and giving BM a second try. Personally I think you'd find a newer performance more to your liking-this one is 10 years old and the girls are 15,17 and 15 respectively. I'd like to suggest one of my favorite songes and a brilliiant perfromance: Babymetal, Monochrome, Live at PIA arena, 2023 or an even more recent (tons of guitar work here) Arkadia, Legend MM Live 2024. They're recent performances and while still Babymetal have a more mature sound. Thanks for putting n the effort.
This video is from 2014 you really should check out what Babymetal is doing now Monochrome Divine attack Maya Believing Metal Kingdom All these songs are from babymetals concert from PIA ARENA BLACK KNIGHT or CLEAR NIGHT and are on their current album The Other One also check out their collaboration with bring me the horizon The song kingslayer or there song Metali featuring Tom Morello from Audioslave Rage against the machine Prophets of rage
Monochrome live PIA arena or Divine attack live If you don't live Su's voice after that, no problem, just move on, no real fan is going to get angry or beg you to like them. (only trolls pretending to be fans do that) As long as you don't make out Su shouldn't be doing this, nobody will care. Su has been singing to metal for 14 years now. She's a great singer who has a amazing voice, but not everyone has to like it.
Babymetal is sometimes classified as kawaii-metal, which is a blend of heavy metal and j-pop. I wasn't big on babymetal when I first heard them, but after a second listen, that's when I became a fan. My favorites personally are headbanger, papaya, and road of resistance
I think you should stick with it, even if it's just in your free time. BM's got a lot variety. They tackle a lot of different metal genres. Even if you don't become a huge fan or anything, you may actually find some stuff from them you like and perhaps there's some songs where the vocals work for you. Kagerou (Legend MM 2024) From Dusk Till Dawn (Budokan 2021) Mirror Mirror (PIA Arena 2023) Brand New Day (Official Live MV) Just a few of the ones I personally like quite a bit. All very different from each other.
I think some people are just allergic to "Kawaii". It's fair. Some people love kawaii, some hate it. My best friend can not for the life of him understand the kawaii culture. And I get it. So maybe their more Kawaii stuff will not speak to you (and the clean young girl vocals are part of the kawaii elements of BM for sure). Maybe it will come with time and exposure, who knows. But they do have songs and performances that lean less into the kawaii and more into the dark, metal aspect of BM that might speak to you more. There's also an element of maturity. BABYMETAL and specifically their members have grown and matured over the years. Su's vocals obviously matured and acquired more range and versatility and technique since her debut with BM at just 13 years old. She's now a 26 years old young woman. I think it's the right approach that you have here to let us know you will not judge an entire band with 14 years of activity and 4 studio albums that is known for their diverse sound and genre bending approach to music with only 1 or 2 songs but rather 5 or 6. You might miss songs or performances that you might enjoy quite a bit. I'll just add a little piece of my mind on this reaction: your issue seems to be not with music, or performance, or whatever. The thing with BM is, if you removed their vocals/aesthetics, you pretty much also remove their uniqueness. There are thousands of bands that do that kind of music, but literally only BM does it with a cute young vocalist singing positive and uplifting messages. I personally dislike power metal. But if it's BM doing it, I can get into it.
I'll say, and I hope I don't sound rude, but it happened to me watching your reaction that I seem to understand your "issue" with the vocals. It has several aspects behind it, and it's exactly because you have this barrier with the vocals that they are perfect. I know that at first what I'm saying will seem counterintuitive, but maybe you will understand what I want to say with that at the end of it all. However, if you still don't like BABYMETAL, know that no one loses anything. There is a reason why BABYMETAL is special, considered "the best band in metal," and there is also a reason for you to dislike or like BABYMETAL.
@@BeccaVinesz thanks for the comment! I think the reason I’m struggling to like them is because I went into it with the hopes of heavy metal and I associated that with harsh vocals o think that’s what it is for sure
@@ZKReacts39 SU-METAL does some little harsh vocals in specific songs, but nothing extremely gritty. She has pretty much a very piercing yet clean style, MOMOKO is the only BABYMETAL member that does harsh vocals like scream in specific moments of certain songs. A band I know that has a vocalist with clean style but takes the risk to sing harsh vocals properly would be Galneryus. But anyway, yes BABYMETAL is a different genre that utilizes more the clean style of vocalisation, and screams are generally coming from the backing tracks.
I mean, yeah, if you don't like actual singing and you just want pigsqeeling noices, babymetal ain't going to be for you. Su, being one of the most talented singers, and current leader of the vote for Metal Awards' best female metal singer of 2024 isn't going to do that no.
I understand the hesitation, you come from a Western Metal background. you said you like the music, and the voices and imo i think that leaves you in the same group as the "haters" and the reason is that they are young girls dancing to the music. The thought process of the people who cant get into their music, a big part of it is the visuals, you cant help but think you are going to be judged if you like a Girl group with baby in the name but if you were to listen to just the music with no voices or visuals, the Music stands up and even surpasses alot of bigger bands I dont think that you are going to get into them with the normal suggestions, so these are going to be a little more out there (with some big songs mixed in) Metal Kingdom (No dancing or skirts just voices and an awesome set, its also much more melodic) Monochrome (Deep meaning behind the song and its not as crazy as alot of their other stuff) my fav song BxMxC (their version of a Rap song, so its a little more repetitive but very worth it for the music) Rondo of Nightmare with mischif of Metal gods intro (A solo from Su and a more dark tone) Light and Darkness (this is from their experimental album "The other one" ) Devine Attack (a personal top 5 song, chuggy guitar and the first song written buy Su!) The Legend (similar to Metal kingdom this is more melodic and not as in your face) now they have a couple collabs aside from RATATATA that i think are worth it to listen too as well Kingslayer-Bring me the Horizon (just an amazing song) Leave it All Behind-BM x F.Hero x Bodyslam Metali!! Ft Tom Morello from Rage against the Machine I really think once you can get around the fact that they are girls in dresses dancing to the music, i really think you will be able to open up to them more. I understand not everyone is going to like them nor do they have too, and if you just dont like it then hey thats cool too. BABYMETAL truly did have a huge part in saving my life, not gonna get into it but re discovering them 3 years ago was the best thing thats ever happened to me, and i know many in the Kitsune community are not your typical metal heads. so i really do hope you can dive in more and really give them a shot, it may not happen soon but they will get in your brain lol P.S ive been to many a concert, seen plenty of amazing bands and Babymetal stands head and shoulders above the rest and its not really that close, the only other band in the same stratisphere is Twenty One Pilots
If this doesn't convince you. I don't think any song from them will at this point. The band was formed around Su-Metal when she was just 13 years old (soon to be 27 years old in Dec.) the main vocalist in which you have the biggest issue with. In my opinion, I just think you're one those guys that are not open into new stuff. Babymetal has been around since 2010 and one of the reasons they are one of the biggest bands right now is that they're unique in their own way. Something new, something fresh. Soon they will tour with Slipknot because Corey Taylor is a fan of Babymetal. There's some bands that tried to imitate them but never made it bigtime or not yet. Btw, they created this new sub-genre of metal which is called Kawaii-Metal (Cute Metal). As a huge Babymetal fan this is not a issue for me, it's your ears and your liking. I feel in love with Babymetal since Doki Doki Morning MV dropped (2012). Atleast your reacting to Slaughter To Prevail which I also freaking love.
@@ZKReacts39 awesome! Also, what you say is true. We watch reactions for the honesty. And the reactors that likes what are we into then we will obviously stay with them. As long as you don't disrespect the girls. The fans won't go after you LOL. You've already watched Slaughter To Prevail - Viking. I would like to suggest the Live performance of that because Alex is going to do something awesome and something beastly in that video. This is the title... "Slaughter To Prevail - Viking (Live in Germany)".
I’m 60 years old and grew with Cheap Trick, Santana, Lead Zeppelin, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Judas Priests, Scorpion, Pink Floyd, etc etc. But I got to say today I’m a huge fan of Baby Metal. Had the fortune of seen them live and was great.
Good on you for giving them another go. If it's not for you it's not for you. Babymetal aren't for everyone and that's okay. The name Babymetal has two meanings. The first meaning is that Babymetal is meant to be the birth of a new style of metal in "kawaii metal" (cute metal), which is the style of metal music they pioneered. The second meaning is a Japanese play on words; in Japanese "heavy metal" is ヘビーメタル "hebimetaru", and Babymetal is ベビーメタル "bebimetaru". When written and spoken in Japanese, they are almost identical. At the time of this performance in January 2015, Su-metal was 17, and Yuimetal and Moametal were 15.
I recommend: 1. BabyMetal - BxMxC ( BabyMetal world tour 2023 - 2024 legend MM ) 😁 2. BabyMetal - FROM DUSK TILL DAWN ( Budokan 2021 Live) eng subs😄 Thanks for your great reaction.
I became a fan of them when I discovered them through Ratatata, I will continue to never like performances from when they are children, but I like all of their new performances when they are adults, which includes new performances of Road of Resistance. You should react to their newer performances which include any songs performed at the PIA Arena 2023 and Legend MM 2024 concerts. I would suggest Monochrome.
i think if you're looking for more of a straight metal vibe and less pop then you'll prefer their newer stuff. a few songs i suggest: "PA PA YA!! ft. F hero", "METALI! ft. Tom Morello (LIVE)", and "METAL KINGDOM (live at PIA arena)"
If you can’t seem to grasp the concept of this type of New Metal it’s probably because most people listen to different versions of Metal. Baby metal is (for lack of a better term) Metal Fusion. Metal instrumentals are being fused with pop vocals. It’s a type of music built on contrast: dark & light/ sweet & sour/ rougher & smooth etc… Electric Callboy does the same thing in a different fashion by mixing by mixing EDM, Dance, and Metal Core with a hint of comedy to come up with something completely different. I’m 50yrs old and have been listening to Heavy Metal since I was 14yrs old. It wasn’t until I truly started learning about musical composition and all the older forms of music ( jazz, symphony, blues, folk, etc) that I realized in order for music to survive it must change and evolve. If you listen to Heavy Metal / take away the growling, take away the distortion, lessen the aggressive undertone of the vocals and you know what you have? The Blues! If you don’t believe me, play Enter Sandman on an acoustic guitar, slow the rhythm you’ll see.
It seems that it’s the vocals that you having the greatest difficulties coming to terms with. If you want the traditional harsh vocals that goes with most metal bands, BabyMetal is unlikely to be the band for you. Their earlier albums really leant into the kawaii factor and tended to blend more pop sounds into their songs. For someone like me, who likes heavier music but has a low tolerance for growls, BM is the perfect tonic. If it doesn’t appeal to you, that’s fine. BM already has a legion of fans Worldwide so one less isn’t going to make a difference.
I love Babymetal and I don't really watch their old stuff because it's not as enjoyable to me as the most recent 2 albums/concert rounds, they sound way more mature/more interesting music.
ur big mistake u trying feel this as metal. But its not pop and not metal. Its their own genre. I like it. I like when ppl fk the trends and traditions.
Some people just dont get it. That's okay. This is a new genre they will continue to rule without you.. Saw them i Sydney live , sold out concert hall. The air was on fire ! Ages here 15- 17yo. Started 11-13yo. try this one Headbanger live Legend tour version.
You don't like BABYMETAL's vocals because you don't like the voices themselves?Or is it because they sing most of the lyrics in Japanese? Which song would you recommend to someone who stated that they don't like the lead vocalist? It's been a while since I've seen someone with such entrenched ideas.maybe 5years. No no!! heavy metal means singing with a devilish voice! Is that what you think?👿 I hope your channel overtakes the number of subscribers to the official BABYMETAL channel!😂🤣
@@ZKReacts39I think a lot of us are fans because Babymetal don't sing like a normal metal band. We were bored with the same thing over and over again and very much appreciate someone who does something different. And Babymetal certainly is different. If you're not at that point in your life where you're sick of the same old same old when it comes to metal, I can understand why you wouldnt like it. I still like conventional metal and listen to it a lot. I just appreciate how unique and awesome Babymetal is.
@@ZKReacts39 Babymetal was the goldilock zone for me. I love heavy metal music, but never enjoyed most of the super harsh vocals (I do like some of course). On the other hand, I love a lot of the actually good vocalists in pop/ballad songs, but the music is usually too soft for my taste. Babymetal combined the best of both worlds for me --> Aggressive music + solid melodic vocals. With that said, I went from "WTF is this gimmicky pop metal thing, I probably won't like it" to "Babymetal is my favorite band" in the course of ~1 month lol.
I think that is part of the attraction for those of us who grew up with pre-2000's metal that had clean vocals and didn't like harsh vocals. Babymetal was a breath of fresh air for us who wanted something new.
Collabs do not show what Babymetal is about. Glad you took another look of just Babymetal. Try BxMxC, Metal Kingdom, Pa pa Ya. Su metal's voice is unique.
For some, BABYMETAL is hard to wrap around their brains... that´s a fact. No problem, if there´s no mocking of them. They earned their fans through talent, hard work, and persistance in amounts most of us are unable to bring in. In other words: they should be respected at least. Sometimes there even are people having a problem with the mere tone of their voices, that´s okay, too. We were all born with a certain hearing feature, and that´s nobody´s fault. Yeah, we all know the one guy wo-ho-hoooing louder than anybody else 😄 Salutes to him, and respect! I wish I would have been there, it must have been an amazing concert to experience in person! The Wall Of Death is a given since this song was first played live. The Circle Pit right after the WoD is a notable feature of the Japanese BABYMETAL crowds. Fascinating, how they transform the WoD into a CP so fluently. Never seen that anywhere else. Maybe the Brazilians change that in the near future? As for a song that might change things for you, I would recommend "BxMxC" live(!). dingjk5630 suggested a great live performance of this song already. Should do the trick 😉
Try listening to some of the songs they have in their latest album "The Other one". These songs are were written 10+ years later after the stuff your looking at now. Their sound has definitely evolved and is now a more "mature" sound. Try "Divine Attack" and definitely "Monochrome". Older songs you like might like are Pa Pa Ya! and Megitsune, and def "Headbanger". If you want a Look at some of the Instrumentals, try "Rondo of NIghtmare", make sure it has "Mischief of Metal Gods" is a part of that video, since that portion of it is purely Instrumental.
So yes, most of us are die-hard fans. When you watch a band LITERALLY grow up from 11 and 12 year olds to what they are now, you tend to become attached to them and think of them more like your little daughters or sisters. As such most of us are very protective of these girls as you mentioned. That being said, most of us are very reasonable and understand Babymetal just won't be for everybody. Some people just can't get past the cute factor tied with the heavy music, or the vocals in your case. Personally I don't see how vocally it isn't much different from Nightwish, or After Forever, or any of the other female metal bands that do symphonic metal, but that again is just my opinion. The important thing is that regardless of your feelings you treat the girls with respect and dignity and you shouldn't get any flak from the Babymetal audience. Those that do turn on you and go ham aren't real Babymetal fans as the girls a) wouldn't want that and b) goes against everything the girls sing about and preach. So you do you, we respect that you're giving them an honest chance, and if at the end of it you're still not on their side, that's ok. At least you tried. The one good thing I CAN say is that every Babymetal song is going to be quite different from each other. With that being said, in this concert, I believe Su-Metal was 16 or 17 and the 2 dancers were around 15, so they were still very young. You might want to try one of their newer songs as they've matured a bit and you might like the vocals more then. However, personally I find the newer music isn't as "hard" as the older stuff, it has more of a rock feel almost. It's still quite good though. I'd recommend Monochrome Live at PIA arena maybe. Or if you want a real SHOW, then I'd recommend Babymetal Death!! Legend 1997, that's the other extreme, more metal, less vocals. Another option you can try is one of their darker songs, Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of gods intro (the mischief of gods part is the musicians getting a chance to show off their talent, so you're sure to like that part at the very least). Rondo of Nightmare is just the main vocalist without the dancers as she does this in some concerts to give the dancers a quick breather so they can rest a bit, then there's the times where the dancers do a song with just them so the main vocalist can have a quick break too. Anyhow, good reaction, I respect you're at least giving them a chance and trying to keep an open mind. Either way, thank you :)
Oh, don't worry, of course they can't be every one's favorites 😅. I see lots recommending From Dusk Till Dawn, one of my favorites, though it's quite unique and not very representative of their style I would give that one a look, of course the Budokan X 2021 Live show. Megitsune is a classic and the last live versions, PIA Arena and MM 2024 are both excellent. Karate is another classic. Akatsuki has a special place in my heart, but it's a SU solo song, I would pick something with the whole formation. So, IMHO their two best songs at the moment are Monochrome and Shine, the latter is the middle part of the Trilogy of Light. Of course the live versions, always look for their live shows, after all that's their focus. I'm pretty sure many had already explained it but no, the Baby in BABYMETAL is not referred to the girls age at the time, though they were really young (the video you just watched is from 2015, they began in late 2010, early 2011), but tp the birth of a new genre and a new approach to Metal. The revolutionary thing was not just the kawaii part, that was shocking and the first thing that caught the attention, but the positive mood, the relentless resistance against all the negativity that afflict us on a daily basis. That is still one of their most distinctive traits. 🤘🦊⚡️
Not offended. You don't like it but are willing to see if you can find something you like. That's more than a lot of people so give yourself credit for that. If you want to explore more, I would try Oh Majinai for the celtic metal, YAVA! for the ska metal, Awadema Fever! for the jungle/dnb vibe, Shanti Shanti Shanti and Metalizm for the middle eastern feel. You have to get past the idea that metal is all masculine, growls, screams and yelling. Sumetal is vocal powerhouse and has tremendous range, which does NOT include growling, much to distress of many fans. LOL In any case, glad you are willing to give them a shot. Hope you join The One!
🤔 Grington and Ganimal have covered the arguments for. I’ll add a few of my own thoughts. I found BM a couple of years back here on RUclips. I’m 72 and have listened to rock/metal since the late 60s. Grew up with The Who, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin… Fell out of love with the genre when hair metal/glam metal came along (Van Halen was fun, but most were annoying). Thrash/speed metal and death/black metal 🤔 I liked the music, hated the ‘singers’ (if you could call it that). Tool didn’t fall into that hole, and I’ve ’followed’ them since the 90s; but they’re pushing 70+ and not likely to produce another album. The RUclips algorithm pushed Babymetal at me after I’d searched out reactions to the Vic Firth drumcam of Danny Carey playing Pneuma live. Luckily (?) for me it was this video along with IDZ at Download 2016 which turned me on to them. Fell down the foxhole: bought their first 4 albums and concert videos for Budokan Apocalypse (2014), Wembley (2016) and Tokyo Dome (2016) shows. The (?) above is because that is the Babymetal I know and love. The current iteration without Yui and with masked rotating ‘Kami’ band members just doesn’t cut it for me. Oh, music video recommendations: Try Black Babymetal (Yui and Moa version) from those years. ‘Sis.Anger’, ‘GJ’, ‘Song 4’ and ‘Onedari Daisakusen’. Cuteness overload on top of awesome musicianship.
It's OK to not like a band/group, if you've heard Ratatata and RoR and still don't like them, then don't put yourself through it anymore. And, yeah, we like honest opinions more than you just claiming that you like it when you don't.. It's also appreciated that you gave it a fair chance, that's all anyone can really ask for. I humbly disagree with your assessment, but we can both have different opinions.
Thanks for giving them another shot, I still suggest something newer, performance wise, you may find you like better. People have suggested BM DEATH from Legend 1997, not a lot of singing in that one and the spectacle is something else for sure, but not sure it will get you to like them any better. I'll leave my same suggestions from last time just in case. Oh also, don't think anybody said they were the best band, just one of the best "live" bands, but they are not for everyone, can't force yourself to like them. Suggestions: Babymetal - Kagerou (Legend MM 2024 Live) Babymetal - Monochrome (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Babymetal - Maya (PIA Arena 2023 Live) I'll give a couple suggestion for other Japanese bands you may find you like better as well: Hanabie - We Love Sweets MAXIMUM THE HORMONE - SHIMI feat. ATARASHII GAKKO! (just released, this is a updated old song and it's so good) Nemophila - G.O.D
I feel like a lot of us felt what you felt at first about the girls. Like it being too cutesy. Like it doesn't match. Or maybe it's a little cringe. I suggest listening to some songs from their most recent album.. I recommend. Divine attack. Maya. And monochrome.
Without knowing your usual music tastes, it's hard to recommend a song that would change your mind. But there *is* one. XD There are plenty that will NOT help your opinion, tho. I don't agree with other commenters that Death is the way to go. Their newer stuff is probably going to be more your speed because what you're struggling with is the singing. It's something that takes acclimation, and Su's more matured vocals would likely be more to your tastes and help you get a toe in the waters. I would recommend Monochrome live at the PIA arena. Or a live version of Starlight or Shine. Alternatively, the MV for Megitsune is quintessential BabyMetal. Do not, whatever you do, watch Gimme Chocolate. Just don't touch it. Or Doki Doki Morning or Iine. I *do* recommend Metalizm, Maya, or maybe BxMxC. But mostly Monochrome and Starlight. They might just not be for you in the end, but they have such a broad range of sounds that there's almost definitely at least one song that's going to click for you, even if it's only just that one song. Glad you're giving them a serious chance. Thanks! 🤘🦊🤘
Babymetal are officially one of the 10 greatest metal bands ever, METAL HAMMER MAGAZINE.
This song was made with the help of Dragon Force.
Regarding their vocals: If you want them to do these godawful cookie-monster-type vocals, you will be indefinitely disappointed. At least if it's that what you inherently expect from a metal band...
they are japanese "Idol", but instead of singing "pop" song dancing/twerking with show a lot of skin costumes, they sing to a heavy metal music without showing anything but pure talent (singing & dancing).. thats pretty much it for now
I'm sure a lot of other fans will give you suggestions and informations
btw their musics is top tier world class imho
They were not written by them, they were only played for the record.
Well said!
Excellent comment 😁🤘🏼🦊
Tepat sekali
nailed it
Good honest reaction.
*To answer your questions from the video:*
1). “Guitars sound familiar”: This song was created in the style of Dragonforce, and Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce played the guitars for the studio recording.
2). Babymetal’s name is a pun:
ヘビーメタル: Hebīmetaru (Heavymetal)
ベビーメタル: Bebīmetaru (Babymetal)
Supposed to mean the “birth” of a new style of metal.
You should ask yourself:*
1). Do you feel awkward enjoying a couple of teeny boppers do metal? Even though your soul wants to like it?
_If that’s the reason, then 🤷♂️. All I can say is (for myself) that I don’t GAF what others think 🤣👌._
2). Or, are their voices just a bit too “child-like” here for you?
_If that’s your reason, then check out their recent stuff, when they’re in their mid-20s, with a bit more mature vocals and content. They’ve replaced the early day “child-like” adorableness juxtaposed to brutal music with a “young adult sass and attitude”._
*Suggestion, and some of my favorites:*
_Metali (Official Live):_ Groovy and bouncy festival song. Performance from Nov 2023.
_Syncopation (Official Live):_ A great blend of pop + metal, in a more mature fashion, with some insane guitar riffs and drums. Performance from Apr 2024.
Both of these should be available on Babymetal’s official channel.
🤘🦊
Except BABYMETAL are not teeny boppers. They are grown women, and people should quit suggesting old videos to perpetually infantilize them.

@@jakemuller8626 I agree - see how it pans out. But he's walking dangerously close to a kitsune shit-storm. 😁 🤘🦊🤘
How is that a game changer. He already stated he loves the instrumentation. And babymetal death is like 99% instrumentation...
From dusk til dawn by Babymetal 2021 live! Metal head for 40 yrs and that is my favourite performance EVER 🤘🏼
It’s EPIC! 🤟🏻
The song that can change your mind is "Rondo of nightmare with Mischiefs of god intro budokan live"
Don’t worry if you don’t like BABYMETAL. It took me three years before I started liking them. For some of us I guess it’s an acquired taste. I love their music now.

If this is not to you taste, try these;

Enjoy 🤟🏻🤟🏻
これが気に入らないなら多分何を聞いても駄目でしょ😂
世界で人気の「J-POP」は、口に合わないようですね。
The song Headbanger (live version) was the one that won me over to liking them. Also BxMxC live.
Hey man, we the fans appreciate you giving our ladies a real chance
If you didn't like the vocals then you won't like any Babymetal songs.
As someone pointed out before, the guitar lines in this song were written for BabyMetal by Herman Li & Sam Totman of DragonForce.
It's not for everyone for sure. But BabyMetal Fan here since 2013/2014 :)
Babymetal ( death legend 1997 )
Cheers!
Saw them live at Legend MM in Yokohama... Nothing beats seeing them live in Japan..
Karate is my all time fav. Babymetal song. Such a sick riff.
Furthermore, the relationship between the fandom and the girls is very close, even making a song dedicated to us, called "the One" that I recommend
ruclips.net/video/TZRvO0S-TLU/видео.htmlsi=es9wmk_KqFjcnT1p
Fourth: they are currently the most influential Japanese metal group in Japan and one of the ones that have come the furthest in the world. I'm not talking about better or anything like that, than colors for taste, but about influence.
I don't know if what I've given you will be of any use to you. I hope so. Although if not, I thank you for at least reading me.
@@armitage9 thanks for the info appreciated the comment I’m glad you found some value in an honest reaction
He may like other songs if he tries, or not and that's ok :)
*Edit: Forgot to add that while I don't think any particular song will change your view, one personal favorite is Rondo of Nightmare live, where the Kami band gets to showcase and Su's vocals fit perfectly the somber and heavy tone of the song with minimal coreography, if that distracts you.
Try something newer like Mirror Mirror, Divine Attack or Metali.
I vote for Metali!
i dont mind whether or not somebody likes babymetal! everyone has their own preferences. the only thing that bothers me is when others disrespect babymetal and how hard they work. they have been out there busting their asses for almost 15 years. incorporating a wide variety of genres and refining and expanding their own. so yeah, to each their own. as long as they arent rude and hateful 😊 im glad you expressed your honest opinion, and did so respectfully. thats all i want
Yeah some people just brush them off cause they're 3 girls "trying* to do metal as they say
Also just want to throw in there, the song BxMxC (BabyMetalCypher) Su learned to rap specifically for this song, which the official music video and live performance are both awesome...
favs:
bxmxc
akatsuki
babymetal death
the one
arkadia
syncopation
etc...
If you didn’t like the “childish” vocals.
Try some more recent and mature
Ex: Metal kingdom or Divine attack
Divine attack is an amazing song for this mature era ❤
I got sick of grunt metal, so I found the clean vocals refreshing. I grew up with Iron Maiden, so I appreciate a cleaner vocal sound. The singer started out doing Anime singing, so it fits the style.
I am glad you mentioned that metal used to have actual singers, people now days think that metal always had unclean vocals and that was what made it metal, metal was always about not conforming to the status quo now it just seems to be about a generic image that every band must conform to or the gatekeepers will write you off
@@chrisharris1522 Yeah, Metal is the music not the vocals, esp. with females like Nightwish.

Monochrome live PIA arena or Divine attack live
If you don't live Su's voice after that, no problem, just move on, no real fan is going to get angry or beg you to like them. (only trolls pretending to be fans do that)
As long as you don't make out Su shouldn't be doing this, nobody will care.
Kagerou (Legend MM 2024)
From Dusk Till Dawn (Budokan 2021)
Mirror Mirror (PIA Arena 2023)
Brand New Day (Official Live MV)
Just a few of the ones I personally like quite a bit. All very different from each other.
You could try divine attack, that's my favorite babymetal song
And then there's the dancing; Su calls themselves a metal dance unit. For her, singing seems to come second to that.
The thought process of the people who cant get into their music, a big part of it is the visuals, you cant help but think you are going to be judged if you like a Girl group with baby in the name but if you were to listen to just the music with no voices or visuals, the Music stands up and even surpasses alot of bigger bands
I dont think that you are going to get into them with the normal suggestions, so these are going to be a little more out there (with some big songs mixed in)
Metal Kingdom (No dancing or skirts just voices and an awesome set, its also much more melodic)
Monochrome (Deep meaning behind the song and its not as crazy as alot of their other stuff) my fav song
BxMxC (their version of a Rap song, so its a little more repetitive but very worth it for the music)
Rondo of Nightmare with mischif of Metal gods intro (A solo from Su and a more dark tone)
Light and Darkness (this is from their experimental album "The other one" )
Devine Attack (a personal top 5 song, chuggy guitar and the first song written buy Su!)
The Legend (similar to Metal kingdom this is more melodic and not as in your face)
now they have a couple collabs aside from RATATATA that i think are worth it to listen too as well
Kingslayer-Bring me the Horizon (just an amazing song)
Leave it All Behind-BM x F.Hero x Bodyslam
Metali!! Ft Tom Morello from Rage against the Machine
I really think once you can get around the fact that they are girls in dresses dancing to the music, i really think you will be able to open up to them more. I understand not everyone is going to like them nor do they have too, and if you just dont like it then hey thats cool too. BABYMETAL truly did have a huge part in saving my life, not gonna get into it but re discovering them 3 years ago was the best thing thats ever happened to me, and i know many in the Kitsune community are not your typical metal heads. so i really do hope you can dive in more and really give them a shot, it may not happen soon but they will get in your brain lol
P.S ive been to many a concert, seen plenty of amazing bands and Babymetal stands head and shoulders above the rest and its not really that close, the only other band in the same stratisphere is Twenty One Pilots
@@scorpio5174 I mean that’s fair enough. Slaughter to prevail are amazing i definitely want to do more reactions to them 👀

Try something newer from Babymetal like Metali with Tom Morello or Monochrome or Kingslayer collaboration. 🤘🦊🤘

Dont force your self if you dont like it
But still thank you for your honest reaction
Stop fighting it dude. You like it. You know you do. You just don’t like woman vocals in your metal song.
you mean
Though fire and flames? and yes. Herman Li and Sam totman did the guitar parts of this song
Is that what you think?👿
I hope your channel overtakes the number of subscribers to the official BABYMETAL channel!😂🤣
@@METAL_heads maybe that’s it! Because I’m taking the heavy metal genre and associating it with screaming 😂😂
Clean singing has been in metal for decades.
I think that is part of the attraction for those of us who grew up with pre-2000's metal that had clean vocals and didn't like harsh vocals. Babymetal was a breath of fresh air for us who wanted something new.
Sight mis onception. In reality they didn't have one big Mosh pit but many small ones (more than 20).
If you don't like them, you don't like them. It's ok.

"Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational BABYMETAL!" 🦊🦊🦊 🖖❤
Hahahahaha its ok, everyone has their own opinion and taste bro
Please try Headbanger @Live 1997 Apocalypse it’s a good one
I recommend BxMxC Legend MM

Thanks for giving them another shot, I still suggest something newer, performance wise, you may find you like better. People have suggested BM DEATH from Legend 1997, not a lot of singing in that one and the spectacle is something else for sure, but not sure it will get you to like them any better. I'll leave my same suggestions from last time just in case. Oh also, don't think anybody said they were the best band, just one of the best "live" bands, but they are not for everyone, can't force yourself to like them.
Suggestions:
Babymetal - Kagerou (Legend MM 2024 Live)
Babymetal - Monochrome (PIA Arena 2023 Live)
Babymetal - Maya (PIA Arena 2023 Live)
I'll give a couple suggestion for other Japanese bands you may find you like better as well:
Hanabie - We Love Sweets
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE - SHIMI feat. ATARASHII GAKKO! (just released, this is a updated old song and it's so good)
Nemophila - G.O.D
Thanks! 🤘🦊🤘
