What's the weirdest combination that led you to solve a problem?
And if you want to master the process I mentioned in this video, head over to the Evolve community at evolve.geekpsychology.com (there's still 1 more founder's slot before the price goes up).

I'm an ENTJ and I strongly suspect my ADHD supervisor is an ENFP. He will spew seeds of ideas into the air for 30 minutes, and I have to wrangle them into something cohesive and actionable. At first it was overwhelming, but we developed good synergy over time.

entp preference here. Currently just had a 5 hour flow session combining the CFs with the hero's journey, and how it connects to other stuff like the human needs, disc model, the scientific method, anima/animus, and the four patterns of dominant, creative, harmonizing, normalizing subtypes. I looked at your video about jack the skeleton, which I enjoyed, and I believe you can keep it to the four top functions, that it's enough for the hero's journey and easier for people to apply in real life, although there's always room to go more detailed, that's where lot's of contradictions comes up, which is like Jacob's ladder, it will never end, because it's created by the infinite number of personal experiences.
This was a great sweet video.

Thanks! That's definitely a fun rabbit hole to explore.
I totally get what you mean about focusing on the top four-makes it way less complicated. But sometimes Ne just goes where it goes and there's no stopping it :P

@@Simon.Z.Engstrom i have personally studied cognitive functions for years (i am an infj) i agree that your top four are primarily used because they have the most conscious access to. Note, however, that the fourth function has been identified as the "gateway to the subconscious." I am currently trying to incorporate more of my fourth function with the hope that it will help to balance my (sometimes) out of control primary (top three) functions.
I wish you well on your journey....

INFP here. I often will come up with a way of doing a project that works fine, but I will usually try it other ways as well, because I have noticed over the years that if I keep trying different things, I can usually come up with a more efficient/easier way to do a task. It’s pretty cool. I have noticed most people are not like this. If what they are doing is working, they aren’t as likely to try to do something in a different way. Sometimes I might find the way I was originally doing something is the better way of doing it, but just as likely it isn’t. It’s kind of like a puzzle I am solving. It is fun for me.
I find I am often the most creative problem solver in the room. It’s that ability to draw a solution from many different unrelated things that does it. This is why if you give me time, I can usually figure most things out. It’s probably why I don’t like my wife watching over my shoulder when I do a project either. I usually tell her you don’t want to see how the sausage is made. Haha
    Great video.

Amazing Video,!! Thank you for the great eye openning knowledge and insight. Ne is a beautiful realm to live in but also a great path to solving problems and simplifying/refining decision making which I think has been a though task for all of us INFPs :)

Thanks for the love! Ne really is a cool space to be in. It can get tricky for us INFPs, but it’s all about finding clarity in that beautiful chaos.

That was so good. 😁 Ne is like a journey around an infinitely expanding universe. I'm finding myself drawn towards my shadow these days as I am starting to see more that is universally authentic. It is not enough for me that any product of Ni is useful. For me Ni is ideologically invisible, like a magnetic north that draws me, in a meandering course and very often in the opposite direction. Ne and Ni feel like a push-pull mechanism, with Ne stronger and seeking perfection. It hunts for the perfect ingredients for the Ni pie.
I make all sorts of weird connections to solve problems, but they are not weird to me. 😂

And yeah, Ne and Ni are both exploring idea space but in very different ways

Ne sounds like making associations between seemingly unrelated things, and then applying the analogy/pattern of one to the other in a way that "works." The change of viewpoint thus generates a new way of thinking about the one thing. Does that sound right?
For example, if I wanted to harness the energy of my cat, I might think that, like a horse, I need a bridle to control the cat, or like a dam, I could put the cat on its cat tree and harness the kinetic energy when it jumps down on a platform, or maybe just rub the cat's fur until I generate enough static electricity to power a light bulb? Sure, these are a bit crazy, but notice how I am taking each "analogy" and transferring it to how I view my cat? Each association drastically changes how I think about harnessing energy from my cat.

Nailed it! :D Ne is all about making those quirky connections.
Your cat analogy is hilarious but so spot-on! It’s amazing how playing with ideas means you might just stumble upon something genius :)

Less joyful and are more in survival mode perhaps?
Could simply be you're maturing your Ni critic and have stopped possibly tearing apart your plans before they happen and are being more responsible with your choices and clear with yourself about what you want as you focus more on objective frameworks, pragmatism, and a communication style that's more direct.
In essence, if you're an INTP that is behaving more NTJ, you are becoming more Shadow focused.
This is neither inherently good nor bad, it all depends on what you want, do you want to be taken more seriously, or to be more light hearted at the risk of the cost of the former.

I have never met an Ne user and thought smart or accurate much less genius. I think it is really hard to take Ne dom types (1 or 2 stop) as serious. ENTP is notorious for low quality ideas. I could go on but Ne will always look like a bad joke compared to Ni. Ne feels like some random bag of ideas but really struggles to apply context to get the best result.

Is not always like that Ne is quite good coming with solutions, as its my auxiliary it improves ideas/situations by "what could be done different or more optimal" then taking the steps to do it.
Actually it doesnt have a clear direction but there is the gut sensation of (This connection of ideas is really good, i can see the relation of objects clearly) also you can use Ni if you need a clear visualization
