I was wondering what happened, and am glad you are back. With some experience with the topic, i'd like to tell you my story. I used to edit a video, while listening to maybe you "tutorialising" in the same space where my wife was watching TV. i was doing my thing, learning something from you, and laughing, yes laughing with my wife at something Chandler did. Now, after publishing over 1000 "educational" videos I realise we really don't need to know that many things. one activity at a time helps me enjoy the thing more, focus, and actually be more productive than i ever was while doing 3 things at a time. i used to sleep once every two or three nights, and constantly work on a script in my head... "productivity" can be a disease. now hushing head voices with any "useful" sound, kinda went by itself. i do wear headphones, but rarely turn on the music, or old mandatory podcast, editing tutorial... I am sure you'll find the calm, like i did, we have the same IKEA dresser after all :))

I can relate to that - but also: There is just so much to learn via youtube/podcast! You can spend a lifetime learning. 10 lifetimes. There is no end! My "watch later" playlist has reached the maximum allowed.
But if you spend all your time learning, you never put that into your own "doing"...

Your OG. One of those old school teachers that was a One Man Band teaching other people, like myself, how to be a One Man Band on RUclips. Mostly everyone back then was like this. But now, most channels have a small team, and many of these One Man Bands either grew, or disappeared. You disappeared.
I assumed you moved on in your career and did not have time for the channel. Its a lot of work. More then most people outside of the industry can imagine. So I figured you were in a good place with that. But every now and then you pop up in my feeds, and I have to see what your up to!
Your an inspiration and a reality check all in one. On the one hand, I've seen you succeeded, and on the other, I've seen your short comings. We all have them. I've tried to gauge myself and my progress to you, and the dozen of others that have either disappeared, or have teamed up. What I've learned, and getting to, its much harder now to be a One Man Band today. We all gravitate to the best producers of our interests, and most One Man Bands can't compete.
The only reason I will still watch you is because your OG. Your part of my Journey. A mentor. But if I had not have seen you a few years ago and seen you today, honestly, I probably would skip on by. Like this video, its more of a personal blog. Sure some like it. I create my own. But there not really meant for a wide audience. That audience wants production value.
So if your still with me, I want to thank you for everything you have put on RUclips. I cherish your channel a lot, and I may very well still watch the odd update. But don't be offended if myself, and others, don't quite engage with your channel like the days of old. The landscape has changed, and we must all now aspire to the next frontier of content creators, the Content Team. My dreams of following you in my own foot steps might be the past, but because of that past, you are a part of that journey today. And if you do continue to create short updates about your experience with the teams you work with, I may still be here, inspired. Or maybe you might drift off again, a memory of how RUclips content creation once was. We all have to adapt. May we both have much success with that! Cheers. :)

I remember reading something about " displacement activity", which I took to be making excuses for your own lack of motivation, by diverting your energy elsewhere. I think we all suffer from it, and I also think it's brought on by little disappointments, or failures. I'm sure we could talk all day about our own psychology. But I find that making a start, on anything, however mad or seemingly futile, is just what it says on the tin, so, I make a start, and a few days later I've actually got something.
I've learned that , for me, I must do a detailed, well rendered storyboard, with really good artwork, almost a finished comic strip version of the movie, is the only way to go.
Anyway, it's good to see you back, you make great ,quality content, you should know that.
    Cheers 👍

Hey Simon! Love your vids dude, I've learned so much, and am just getting started applying it to my channels. So I watch a lot of RUclips too, and my wife has an online biz that relies heavily on FB and IG. But we both make conscious decisions to have quiet time in our lives every day. We're quiet anyway, no TV yelling at us, and we both listen to little music during the day. It's so important to withdraw from the noise, chatter, and the unsolicited advice from others. I have for over 30 years lived my life, day to day, very mindfully, and with intention. Further, along the lines of "multitasking" It's something I've always advised against, since the term became popular years ago with the advent of computers used as work tools. It's an excuse to not be present with yourself, and not do your best job. There's a Buddhist saying, "Knowing one, accomplish all". How can one do thier best when they're doing multiple things at once? See how well you taste your food, while your busy shoveling up your next bite, then try putting your fork down while you chew and taste. Thanks Dude! Peace

I've recently done something similar as you did with facebook. Not to that extent, but I did get a wakeup call one sunday evening when I was reflecting on what I did all day and I was "I just spent all day on facebook, hardly did any relaxing at all" since then I've implemented a "no facebook on rest days" rule. I use a block extension to do it - which is really helpful because just like you muscle memory. It's helped me to relax a lot more during my rest days.

I was in Afghanistan. You were a teenager! I tried to find some tutorial videos about tools and equipments. I had a small film project and I was looking to buy some equipments for my company. You were sitting beside a window at morning in England I think. I'm watching your clips in Afghanistan. Mountain. Between lots of explosion and war and lots of killings. How these many years passed so fast? I'm in Canada now. I left film making and cinema. It's 5 years almost I left Afghanistan. I'm working in construction. I'm a painter.
But while I'm working, I'm thinking about writing and directing. My life had lots of up and down.

Same ... I talk about this, a couple days ago. Maybe I try the same. I spend so much time her but especially on Tiktok. And I don't get anything from it ... You're right.

You know that feeling when you notice that your brain is screaming to pick up your phone. You feel so dependent on your tiny glass and metal box. It's horrible. But still, I pick it up and look trough the same apps, the same posts i watched less then 5 minutes ago.

I have the opposite of that 😂, I’m too focus on my own thoughts that don’t let me do anything else. So without any new information I’m just in a infinite loop. Now I think I’m need that kind of stimulation like RUclips or podcasts to learn new things and try to see things in another perspective.

It's good to see you back I've taken many tips from your channel over the years, maybe I can do the same for you, Take yourself off twitter or cut it right back, it really is a negative life draining platform.
    All the best
