I like the purple and blue. Look at the guy who's making it- so much hard work to make one saree. It's so easy for us to say- "I don't like this or that".
It’s a shame to have cheap imports.. when you have people making authentic beautiful crafts for hundreds of years! Every culture needs to preserve their wonderful crafts and not dilute or lose them . Such beautiful exquisite designs and quality saris.
not everyone can afford a rs. 10000 sari ...hence cheap variants..so people can atleast have that look . .and people who are used to wearing silk will always know the difference...no scamming there..only thing is those fake banarasis could be made in india and not in china...thats what we can do.
who said it's imported. Sorry but 90%of Fake Banarasi sarees are from India's western part. Synthetic city Surat - Gujarat which is more popular for synthetic sarees and specially banarasi silk , banglori silk, etc. You can check these Fake Banarasi Saree on Saccha Saudagar episodes from Surat.
Since this was my first vlog, I had not expected so many people would love this saree and want to buy it. I made this video to help people identify a real silk saree in Banarasi weave and give them an idea about it's price. I met some manufacturers and suppliers while exploring the market, who were kind enough to help us know more about this art. Most of the shops in Banaras have all three types of sarees: pure silk, art silk and fake. Once you learn to identify the difference, you can spot a fake one easily. Edit: I’ll try to go back to Varanasi again and film a Banarasi Saree shopping vlog. I'll also mention the shop's details in all my future videos.
You are so inspiring di. I also have vitiligo and I am 16 years old. Only by seeing your vitiligo story on Karl Rock’s channel have I been able to get out of the suffocating world of medicines. Otherwise I would’ve spent my entire 2020 in taking pills and cure vitiligo. You are a real inspiration for me. I have never found any person so relatable as you as we share quite the same vitiligo story. I am on my way on becoming more confident in my skin condition and the jorney has just begun. CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH🙏🏻❤️❤️
you are what you are as a person. your skin, color, height, hair does not define you. Keep your chin up and be a good person. nothing else matters. vitiligo is not a handicap. take care of your health as in staying healthy in both mind and body. there are a lot of people who will see beyond your physical features. God bless you
That’s a lovely Saree. I got conned by a seller in an exhibition he showed me the viscose silk blend saree and sold to me as 100% silk for like 15k. I only checked the threads by burning like a year later and realized.
Very informative video. Please also post the contact details of these weavers so we can directly buy from them. With ever increasing population and demand for sarees in india, fake replicas will find their way in market. Its hightime handlooms get some level of automation, so we still get authentic, original pure silk sarees, more made in short time and preserve this art and help protect artisans financially.
Hey Manisha, your info is very helpful. I went to benaras and was trying really hard to find the authentic silk.. even after spending 21000 i am still unsure if it the original one.. if you could have shared some craftmen contact or details of shops that would be a real ease
Thankyou so much for sharing this knowledge....and your are preserving our authentic craft by making us aware regarding traditional Banarsi silk and Handloom❤️
One of the sensible videos i found online in my quest to buy pure silk sari from India. There are so many fake sellers who are selling artificial silk which is non-envioronment friendly.Sometimes we are scammed into buying semi-pure silk for the price of the real one.😢
Wow! Your sari is absolutely beautiful! Supporting Indian artists is a must so that this tradition isn't lost forever! As a Black-American woman who has recently found out that there is an Indian ancestor, I look for ways to honor him and those before him. I feel that learning about Indian culture is one way. 👍
Hi Manisha. I saw this video years back and chose to visit it again as my brother is getting married and I wanted to buy some authentic Banarasi sarees for the wedding. All the information just refreshed my memory. Thank you for making an effort to inform us about genuine Banarasi. I wanted to ask if you could suggest a few shops I can visit to buy real zari Banarasi sarees in Banaras.

Manisha...thanks for this vlog. I am a die heart handloom fan and own around 15 banarasis till now. After seeing this I just checked all my saris . Only 1 which I already knew is a powerloom one rest all are genuine. I am so happy....

There is another kind, Pure silk but not woven on hand loom. It's woven on machine but mimics the handloom pure silk.. The way to recognise this is to look at the reverse. Hello Didi. I’m Aastha’s senior from college. I have been following your journey on and off but today found out your YT channel. My heart fills with immense joy to see someone spreading awareness about the dying culture and handicrafts of India. I was aware of the silk thread burn test but others tricks were a discovery and I absolutely love them. Gonna try them very soon. I’m from Rajasthan and it pains me to see the state’s handicraft on a downfall amid this wave of mass manufactured cheap fakes. I request you to kindly make some detailed videos on bandhej, leheriya, mothda, gotapatti and other kind of handicrafts so that there is a scope of them being saved and preserved.
