I like how he says nobody is going to be 8 minutes apart and then in the suggested videos to the side is a video about the guy who missed the end by 6 seconds :D
I am a native Tennessean and have always been involved in health and fitness events, but today (2.18.16) is the first day I've ever heard of the Barklay Marathons. I can't believe it. This place here in my own "backyard". And the place looks like it would be right out of the scene in a serial killer or alien abduction movie. I doubt I'd ever be a participant in this event, but I'd sure love to hear some folk talk who's attempted it.
Absolutely amazing. Imagine if in order to graduate high school, every American student had to complete a course like this. Or to mark their 18th birthday, 20th birthday, etc. It's similar to the Native American tradition of a Vision Quest. Challenging the Mind, Body and Spirit to its absolute extremes in order to find something deep inside you didn't realize about yourself and the world. This is amazing. I wish all the best for the Barkley racers and hope that some day a woman will be able to complete this race. Wow!!!
Not yet. But, look at that stupid race!?! IT's hard because only Senior Citizens (mostly) compete. Don't worry, I'm still training to win that garbage.

GOT WORD ON A STORY, THAT ONLY THE CHOSEN FEW ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER. WITH LITTLE TO NO CHANCE OF FAILURE BEING A PRE -REQUISTE. I WOULD LOVE TO TRY MY HAND AT THE RUN. BUT NOT WITH THE HOLE OUTCOME RIGGED !!!!!!! " SEE YOU SOME WHERE ELSE. " [ RABID BOB]
I loved the documentary, this race means so much to so many people, but for the inventor, at the end of the day is a meaningless race, he hasn't even tried. Formers and future racers give it it's true meaning, the mental challenge the struggle.
You can't accomplish anything without the possibility of failure. Brilliant!
damn right!
Gary, Gary, Gary, ... so good to see you kept this race going and even more thankful you failed to talk me into it back in the day.
One of the best documentaries i've seen this year. Thank you !
"Most people would be better off with more pain in their lives."
Absolutely loved this movie, got me motivated to do the SF marathon again, since that would be so easy compared to this. I love these guys!
Loved this documentary!

Great documentary! I live in east TN and get tired of walking the trails in GSMNP with hordes of tourists with bear whistles. Lol.
Amazing video!!
Thanks Nick!

Awesome marathon.
I can only hope to be next year's sacrificial lamb.
we're on E, we're in excellent shape
Frozen Ed is the man!
All long distance runners all look the same. They either have that short, grey haircut or have messy hair with a beard and are both built the same
I would love to be a sacrificial lamb for this
At least my home state has something to be known for other than jack Daniels and it's wildlife
I WILL compete and complete in this race…mark my words!
EvilSecondTwin you win yet?

I bet you us natives could finish it. Im willing to try with a group of friends. If applicable
No participation medals, Yes!!!
Cant people just do their own race ?
This seems like an awful lot of fun but I doubt they would let minors compete
so dramatic
This isn't harder than race across america6
